There are so many things America should be doing to help.... should have been
doing. The State Department is clueless again.
@ utah engineer:Please tell us precisely what the USA should be
doing that they aren't already doing. We've donated tens of millions
of dollars, plus sent a ship-load of medical supplies. We've also allowed
USA aid workers to expand their efforts. We've basically done everything
the effected countries have asked of us. So what more would you have us do?
I think the article's suggestion of sending trained military medical units
is the "more that could be done". The idea that it will only stay in
these African countries is false. It will continue to spread if it isn't
dealt with now. It has the potential to become the next "Spanish
Influenza". People move around the world much more easily than they did in
1918-19. This article even shows how it has already moved to a neighboring
country that was already exercising controls.
