rare indeed. Like a first.
Maybe Romney would have just lived large and golfed every day and giggled that
he could take trips on Americas dime, but somehow I don't think so.I think Romney has already been there and done that. He probably would
have just gotten to work and made things better.
The income gap is widening, and is allowing some to take several vacations a
year.Who's paying the bill?
Awe...the poor guy just can't catch a break.I guess he needs to
get back to DC to put his Community Agitator skills to work. Can't let a
good crisis like Ferguson to go to waist.
Okay what exactly is he going back to Washington for? He has avoided Iraq like
a plague and has already nixed the idea of helping any group that is being wiped
out bi the enemy. And he needs to return to the White House to hear about
Ferguson, Missouri? That is a local issue and is being resolved by the state,
federal help is not needed.Obama just can't get it right, when he
does try to act concerned, it is over the wrong issues. Oh well, at least he is
Photo op pure and simple. Try to make people think you are doing something.
Yeah because we can't have a vacation interrupted by ... oh ... work.
President George W. Bush took 879 days of vacation during his eight year term.
Thus far, President Obama has taken 150 days. No modern president took fewer
vacation days than Jimmy Carter, who took 79 days. President Reagan took 335
vacation days at his California ranch during his time in office. In
fairness, and I paraphrase Nancy Reagan, presidents don't really go on
vacation, it's just a change of scenery. Their work continues. Get sensible people. Everyone needs a little downtime from their work. The
last thing we need is a president going bonkers from stress.paraphrase Nancy Reagan, when a president goes on vacation it's just a
change of scenery. Their work continues.Get sensible people.
Everyone benefits from a change of scenery and a little recreational downtime.
Personally, I'm grateful that presidents schedule some relaxation. We
don't need a president going bonkers from stress.
The article title is very misleading. It's not that the president is
taking a rare vacation break. It's that he's taking a rare break
in one of his vacations. And that's the reason the Ferguson
rallies continue nightly.Because they love getting this kind of
attentionThat the president will now continue giving to them.Stop giving them national media attentionAnd they will stop the nightly
rallies in short order.Try it and see. It's almost a guarantee. As far as the Iraq crisis goes...The president will study and
ponder and study and ponder.Like he always does and does and does. It's too bad decisions involving taking any action are so rare.
The photo ops are more in DC than on a secluded vacation spot where Teddy
Kennedy spent some very good times. DC is where the action is. He knows action
as a community action person. Funds flowing is his game for politics not making
real plans and governance.
What, no mention of Congress being on a 6 week vacation?
@ Spas...It's not the number of days of vacation the president
takes that bothers his critics so much (which are growing daily, by the way),It's the timing involved. He seems to often take them right in the middle
of national and world crisis situations when the world most needs American
leadership. Very poor timing again. You mention that a president
could possibly go bonkers from stress.Based on many of Obama's
decisions or often lack of decisions, it's completely possible he might
already be there. The current and very apparent lack of American
leadership is costing our country and the world as a whole.Washington DC
has lost all respect from American voters. And the administration has lost
much respect and credibility from America's allies and enemies alike. The world needs a superpower that can lead. Unfortunately, there no
longer seems to be one anywhere. Obama is trying to make America just any
other country of the world. One that won't step up when needed. Sadly, he seems to be succeeding in that one particular goal of his.And
sadly, both America and the world at large are paying the price.
No president really ever goes off the clock, it's the headline that is a
joke. According to SPAS we are supposed to believe that over eight years the
president was on vacation for 30% of the time which is ludicrous. Also,
following SPAS reasoning, since Carter was indisputably one of the least
effective Presidents in history and given his current comments and efforts even
less capable in foreign policy than Obama and that's saying something, then
few vacation days is definitely not a plus in job performance. Obama would get
less criticism for this stuff if he were not so inept at foreign policy and had
he not been so utterly polarizing.
When Bush went to Texas, he was working--fixing fences, that sort of thing.
Obama goes to golf, to shop, to eat lobster--if his wife doesn't eat them
all first. If you check his schedule even when he is in DC, it's usually
empty or full of photo ops. The man never works; and he clearly hates it.
@Rufus T. Firefly,I don't care what GWB did, and I don't
excuse Congress. What's that got to do with the price of beans?Don't reason in narrow terms!
Once again the regular neo-con intellectual posters on this forum comment
disregarding the need for facts beforehand. Dare anyone of you to research how
many vacation days President Bush took while in office compared to President
Obama. Take your time. Site your sources and feel free to post the results of
your investigation. I'll be right here waiting........
How many vacation days including the entire month of August has the Republican
Congress taken this year? I'll make it more simple for you true
intellectuals out there. They have only worked for 69 days this year! What do
you have to say about this besides spin? @Worf? @Vanceone, @Copacetic,
These vacations are the liberal ways of doing things. You know!Spending other peoples money! No spin.
@Worf...Posting prior to factual research is the neo-con way of doing things.
You know! Attempted
substance rather then intellect!
Romney doesn't play golf. He just fixes problems.
Hey USAlover -"Romney doesn't play golf. He just fixes
problems."In a way, you're right.Romney did a
Great Job of losing in 2012.And that saved us the problem of dealing
with a "Conservative" clone of GW Bush in our nation's highest
