Israel, quit while you are ahead. Make peace with the Palestinians. If you
did, you would be an economic powerhouse.I read somewhere about a
reference to Hamas 'terrorists'. If they are firing missiles,
haven' they now become the Gaza Strip Defense Forces. What then
is the difference between Israel shooting at buildings and Hamas randmly
shooting missiles at Israel? Is the only difference that when Hamas
fires a missile the guy pushing the button isn't wearing a uniform. (He
might, I am just assuming he isn't.) Is that what makes him a
terrorist? One other question. I see only one comment on this
thread. (Me). Am I the only liberal on this site?
You are not alone.I tire of our tax dollars supporting Israeli
military. This war is not a war of equals..85 Palestinian killed zero
Israel accuses Hamas of hiding behind civilians. Gaza is an over-crowded cage
with the second most geographically concentrated population on the planet...
there's no room for them NOT to be near civilians! Not
defending Hamas. Targeting populated cities with rockets is inexcusable. Take note Israel? No double standards.
"Israel uses sophisticated attack jets and naval vessels to bomb
densely-crowded refugee camps, schools, apartment blocks, mosques and slums to
attack a population that has no air force, no air defense, no navy, no heavy
weapons, no artillery units, no mechanized armor, no command in control, no army
and calls it a war. IT IS NOT WAR, IT IS MURDER." Noam Chomsky
Israel does not attack Gaza without good reason. Hundreds of warhead rockets
were fired into Israel before they launched any strikes and they keep coming.
And did the Palestinians do anything to find the murderers of the three teens?
No, Hamas just praised the act. Where do all the rockets come from? Do the
Israelis publish school books teaching their children to hate and kill Muslims
like the Palestinians do Jews? If the rockets stopped Israel would stop like
they have in the past.
Breakfast of Champions: Targeting populated cities with rockets is inexcusable.
Good advice for the United States. Not that it can ever take back
the hundreds of thousands of civilians it targeted and killed in Japan and
Vietnam, the thousands in Iraq and Afghanistan. But looking forwards.
timpClimber is the only comment here with facts and ethics.Go visit
the Gush Etzion, hang near the Gaza border, try going to school on a bus from
Tekoa to J'lem past the B'lekhem Wadi. See who goes to school and who
waits in the crevices with deadly stones or silencers. Then pop off
about moral equivalency. There is none, Mr. Chomsky, et al.
Israel should be livid with the US. We have provided billions to the
Palestinian Authority and now Hamas and the Authority have combined. In effect
we are financing the rockets being fired at Israel. Terrorist have
no shame using human shields. Would Israel's actions be okay
with posters, if they suffered the equal number of deaths. I did not know
defensive measures are limited to the number of casualties you suffer. Does
Israel need to stop until their casualties equal the Hamas toll?"Not that it can ever take back the hundreds of thousands of civilians it
targeted and killed in Japan" What about those 7,000,000 to 11,000,000
civilians killed in China by the Japanese. Civilians killed in Japan about
500,000. What are the moral equivalents. We now have
progressives who believe wars should be fought like youth soccer games. They
think it is wrong to keep score, every team wins and no one should lose. Hamas
fires rockets into Israel civilian centers, and because Israel fights back, they
promise every citizen of Israel is a valid target. Were not the civilians
targets to begin with. This is war, and people die. That is why we
try to avoid wars.
Why in the world is Israel still supplying Gaza with electricity??? Whoever
heard of such a thing? Israel needs to destroy Hamas as quickly as possible, and
supplying them with electricity will only prolong the war and increase the
casualties. In case anyone is wondering about the reasons for the
conflict, I urge you to read the Hamas Charter. They tell it like it is, namely,
that this is an Islamic holy war (jihad) against the Jews, and they quote
Islamic sacred texts. Please Google the Hamas Charter and read it for yourself.
I must say condoning Palestinian aggression and condemning Israel seems rather a
stupid argument, when you are vastly out number with technical weapons, one
would expect to not tug on superman's cape to do so is folly. There is
no cure for the mandate of eliminating the Jews from the face of the earth,
anyone exposed to the same thing happening to them would retaliate or annihilate
the problem, if the Palestinians were not so stupid they would realize they
don't have anything but bodies to throw at this war with Israel.Maybe
if Kerry could control the arms going to the Palestinians, they could talk some
sense in to this so called peace negotiation, until then the Gaza strip will be
a casualty zone for the Palestinians
Hamas wants this war. Three Jewish teens were murdered. When a revenge killing
occurred against a Palestinian, Hamas began directing hundreds of rockets into
Israel. What is Israel to do? Would liberals propose that Israel just sit and
let Hamas bomb Israel? It appears so from some of these comments. If
a neighboring state were to fire hundreds of rockets into the US, there would be
a military response and Americans would demand such a response. So how can we
criticize Israel? Timpclimber is correct with the history and facts
of Hamas. They exist to destroy Israel. There is no negotiation, no
compromise, no middle ground that will satisfy them other than complete
destruction of the Israeli nation and all Jews. It is difficult to
understand how any nation or group could excuse Hamas' behavior, and
condone them as if they are a legitimate representative of a nation. They are a
terrorist organization. They exist to destroy.
It seems rather obvious to any objective observer that Hamas simply has to stop
firing their rockets into Israel if they want the air strikes on the Gaza to
stop. Every single air strike in the Gaza by Israel has been in
retaliation for rockets fired into Israel by Hamas. If I was the head of
military for Israel, I'd do exactly the same thing. Every country has a
right to defend itself. I haven't heard a single notable charge
of Israel blatantly bombing the Gaza without first being provoked. Even Hamas
hasn't claimed such a thing. Sadly, they just keep sending rockets from
civilian sites, hoping Israel won't retaliate because of their use of those
civilian sites. Or when they do, then hoping that any Palastine civilian
collateral damage will cause the world to condemn Israel, as it often has been
doing. From everything I've studied and read, the Palestinians
are bringing this upon themselves by not stopping Hamas from firing rockets into
Israel... who can and will continue justifiably retaliating each time it
re jsfCenterville Utah"We have provided billions to the
Palestine Authority."Would you please share with us your source
for that statement.Perhaps I am wrong but to the best of my
recollection we provide around $456,000,000 each year to the Palestine Authority
and we provide more than $3,700,000,000 each year to Israel. Egypt receives a
little less than Israel each year also. The Palestine Authority
receives only a small percentage of aid in comparison to Israel and Egypt.Am I wrong?
