The economy declined the first quarter 2.9%. Why?
Great job by the Administration. The tea party wants 2008 back to have something
to be mad about.
I hope we can put the partisan bickering on hold for moment and celebrate what
is certainly good news for everyone. Who cares who gets the credit?
The economy is growing. More people aren't looking for jobs so they
don't count as unemployed.
"The economy declined the first quarter 2.9%. Why?"Many good
reason.Weather slowed construction projects- reducing demand for
hard goods.Fewer goods being sold decreased demand for
transportation.Weather kept people from going out as much... they
hunkered down at home - reducing eating out, movies, and many forms of
discretionary impending. For some reason it doesn't surprise me
that the DN and Foxnews didn't have this as front page news - the fastest
job growth rate over a 5 month period since 1999 when the tech bubble was going
on. Which begs the question... why?
woo hoo!lots of people getting those $7.75/hour service sector, 25
hours per week jobs!that is really something to crow about!
Yeah, as lost in DC pointed out, all jobs are not the same. I didn't
notice in this article any indication of just what kind of jobs these are that
are being added. I doubt that the big paying high tech ones have been replaced.
And truth is, our current work force is smaller now than it has been in the
past. And with a much bigger population, the simple fact is, a lot less people
are working today. These numbers are not telling the whole story.
