Since Obama has spent the majority of his life as a practicing Muslim (even
saying their prayer chant is the most beautiful sound he's ever heard),
he's much more likely to defend Muslim values than Judeo-Christian values.
I don't recall him ever defending Christian values in any
setting. In fact, it's been quite the opposite. That's the reason so
many Christian groups have been forced to bring legal lawsuits against him and
some of his laws and policies. They are often anti-Christian in nature.Rubio is spot-on.
This is what makes the right wing EXACTLY like the Taliban.
I'm not against Christian values, but just how does "defending
Christian values" get mentioned in the Constitution? After all, many posters
here insist on basing all administrative decisions on some kind of
constitutional footing. One thing it doesn't include, however, is a
requirement of having a Christian president.
“Cruz highlighted what he called failures in the Obama administration that
allowed attacks on Christians abroad, particularly in the escalating violence
across Iraq.”Huh ???So that must mean that the
almost one thousand Christians killed in Lebanon in 1990 was all Bush
Senior’s fault?Jeeez ! . . . . Why can’t Republicans do
@Mark BThe whole constitution is based on Judeo-Christian values.
Every aspect, every item was based on something from the bible.Writings and communications of the founding fathers confirm this quite
clearly.I believe t4he success our constitution and our country
has had for as long as it has was directly because of it basing on
Judeo-Christian values and principles and respecting God.Obama has
been administrating by ignoring and even trampling on the constitunion and the
rule of law, and ignoring our judeo-christian basing. Which has not only put our
country in the situation it is in, but the whole world. You cannot
ignore God and principles he has given us, and expect good things to happen.--@ScrewdriverYour comparison is just completely
nutty, without foundation or common sense. And funny since it is Obama and his
administration that is supporting such radical islam.
Our Constitution is not based on the Bible and the Bible is never mentioned in
it. It has nothing to do with religion. I get a little tired of the right
using the Constitution for their own purposes while it has nothing to do with
anyone's religious beliefs.
The writers of our Constitution certainly did follow the Bible. They made
precise judgments about how much to value a slave in tabulating the total number
of people in each state. Then our good Southern congressmen used the Bible as
justification for maintaining slavery. Now in modern times, our
Republican congresspeople ignore the admonition in the Bible to take care of the
weak, the sick, and the disadvantaged. And they surely ignore the condemnation
of hypocrisy, as they argue that the sick (but not themselves) will somehow be
better off without medical insurance.
Loconic, what are these "Muslim values" that Obama is going to defend?
@ Gary OGood point. Cruz's broad jumps in logic to paint the
Obama administration in this light was almost silly. But why make the same
error yourself with your conclusion? Just like it makes Cruz look
untrustworthy, so it lessens your ability to sway independent voters.
@Loconic 3:00 p.m. June 19, 2014I read your commeent looking for
even a tiny scintilla of truth. Sadly, none was to be found.
@the truth 6:09 p.m. June 19, 2014God is mentioned nowhere in the
Constitution. Religion is mentioned twice, both in ways that works to keep it
out of government -- in Article VI which states that no religious test shall
ever be required as a test for office and in Amendment I which allows people to
worship as they choose but prevents the government from an establishment (an act
of establishing) religion. Jefferson underscored the effect of this provision
by describing a wall between church and state. While some of the
Founders were followers of a Christian faith, an even larger number were Deists
(who believed there was a Creator but followed no particular faith). In fact,
the US Constitution is based on English common law, as anyone who had really
studied the Constitution would know.
Hamoth -"But why make the same error yourself with your
conclusion? " . . . Not the same error . . . just a little
sarcasmThink of it as satire. It's a reaction to the
startlingly senseless actions of "Conservatives" who heap
transparently ridiculous criticisms on Obama and other Democrats.Rubio's criticism was ridiculous, as in worthy of ridicule. It's interesting, isn't it, how many "Conservatives" base
their opinions around completely ridiculous notions.
How ludicrous is this?!? The fact that Rubio invokes "Judeo-Christian"
values is nothing but pandering, indicating no understanding of what is being
said. "Judeo" is not a term for Christianity.@ Loconic,
Obama is not a Muslim, practicing or otherwise. This is the kind of stuff that
is getting beyond old. Christians saying stuff like this defies the principles
of Christ. The old adage goes, "By their works ye shall know them", and
by saying like what you said shows that many who say they are Christian are in
fact not Christian. Finally, the assertion that the Constitution is a
religious document is absurd. I will go along with the idea that it is divinely
inspired, but that does not make it holy writ, it does not make it perfect, it
does not make it a holy document. To people like "the truth", please get
some perspective and a little education on the history of the Constitution other
than faith-based charlatans who are seeking to make a buck from selling a
Me thinks Rubio has a different set of "Christian Values" than
say....Christ did.The crusaders and inquisitors had a version of
Christianity that is more inline with conservatives, what with all the wars,
wanting for more wars, torture, xenophobia, & the firmly held belief that
all other religions are an abomination and threat to their version of a
The biggest supporters of so called 'christian values', an oxymoron if
there was one, are usually why I don't believe in them, and why the entire
concept was left out of the constitution. These people are nothing more in
intent than ISIS.
