Like the article clearly pointed out, Americans have lost confidence in the
administration's ability and willingness to enforce existing immigration
laws. Obama has shown a strong tendency to pick and choose which existing laws
he will enforce or ignore. He can't legally do so, but does anyway. Just
one more reason why his popularity numbers keep dropping in the polls. And now
to near record lows for a 6th year incumbent president. Acting
unilaterally to create and/or ignore laws is always a bad idea. It sets a bad
example and creates lots of political enemies. One of Obama's campaign
promises was that he would reach across Congressional isles for more
compromising between parties. And yet just the opposite is
happening. There continues to be more political ideologue bickering than at any
time I can remember in my half century of living. It's created a Washington
DC stalemate that is only getting worse. If the administration would
simply get serious about enforcing existing immigration laws, much of this
current controversy would take care of itself. Sign carriers say
"Keep families together". There's an easy fix. Just don't
break laws to begin with.
And we recently heard about how the justice department has released thousands of
crimminal illegals back onto American streets. These aren't just visa
violators, but violent people as well. Notice how the mainstream media has been
keeping us informed on that one? Haven't heard about it you say? Only on
FOX News I guess. I tell you. If Obama had been a Republican he would have
been impeached by now.
Secure Communities works, except when politicians get in the way. There
were two main objections to it:1) The race card. What do you do about
that? The guy is in the county jail and his fingerprint scores a "hit."
The scanner doesn't know the color of his skin.2) The program used
the word "convicted." Most folks in the jail haven't been convicted
yet. That loophole needs to be closed. The overarching problem is
capacity. If someone is identified in the county jail they need to be picked up.
But ICE is unable to keep up with the demand, so they prioritize and the program
loses meaning. In the end, the problem is the same; Washington lacks
the political will to enforce laws that have been passed by Congress and signed
by the president.
What is the point of the NEW LAW, when you have a President who refuses to
enforce laws we currently have and covers up scandals like Fast and Furious,
Benghazi, NSA and VA?Waste of time dealing with a Lawless
President!Cheney was right, worst President in History!
