The job report initially looked pretty good. The stock market popped up. Then
analysts starting digging a bit deeper and discovered the numbers weren't
as good as they initially appeared. The mail reason for the apparent drop in
unemployment is because a record number of people gave up looking for jobs. The
stock market then lost more than it initially gained this morning. Decent, well-paying jobs just aren't available. Many of those jobs that
were added were part-time lower paying jobs. As such, it's really not much
of a surprise that so many people are now discouraged and quit looking
altogether. There are currently 9,800,000 adult Americans not
working... the most since 2008.
288 k. That's not horrible, but the employment situation would have been
much better for the last three years if were not for the obstructionism of
"Conservatives" in Congress.Obama's 2011 Jobs'
Bill would have resolved most of the unemployment issues in this nation, but the
Tea Party Congress would not allow it.It's truly a shame that a
such a large proportion of government actively works AGAINST good governance and
instead seeks to harm this nation and its people.
@Gary OJobs are not good for the GOP's outlook in the next 2
elections. Let's be honest, middle class jobs are going overseas to
cheaper labor, and they're not coming back.
The participation rate is about 62%, on par with 1978 figures. That is
terrible. Then there is the underemployment problem. Salary growth
isn't happening. Despite a depressed home price market and cheap interest
there are far too many people who cannot afford the American Dream of home
ownership. 30-somethings cannot afford a home because both are working, one in a
warehouse and another pouring coffee. That's no way to live your dream,
especially with a degree (and the attendant school loan debt).Happy days
are NOT here again.Let's hope the Democrats get another shellacking
As one who voted for both Pres. Obama and Mr. Romney (in different years;
don't call the police), things are good. There is a lot of good. For a
better nation, I recommend the following: eliminate the Ivy league, bulldoze
all Law schools, close all graduate schools, dance often, write, sing, and
there is nothing wrong with making $25,000 a year.
Hey Say NO -"Let's hope the Democrats get another
shellacking in November." I agree. "Another
Shellacking" . . . Just the like the one in 2012 where Obama beat Romney by
124 electoral votes.
@ GaryO:For those of you who obviously have a hard time keeping up
on what's actually going on (and for some reason, that seems to include a
disproportionate percentage of liberals), there is no presidental election this
coming NovembAs such, it seems pretty obvious to most readers that "Just Say
No to BO" was referring to the Congressional elections... which Democrats
have consistently been losing ground in lately... as the liberal facade becomes
more and more exposed. Their socialist agenda is not good for America in any
way, shape or form.
