I was at Para Lodge (where Hemingway was rumored to have died-nope just crashed
plane and lost use of radio for 2 weeks) anyway, went down to the river and
filmed a hipo pod play for 20 minutes. Next day was going up the river in a
boat and pointed to the area to my wife. She said "you were under that
tree?" I said yes, she asked "that one!?" I said, YES. She asked
one more time "That one right there with the 15 foot crocodile under
it?" I gulped and said meekly, yes, that one. I did not go back down to
the river on foot anymore.
I like a good adventure like this. The Nile is a very historic river. I hope it
sheds light on the tragedy of war.
