Science is a good way to control people. One is the zero population movement.
Dying down now but saying we could overpopulate the earth so cut back on kids.
Doomsday failed big time there and they try to cover it. Climate Change, Well
Climate is something man cannot change. If there was this much hysteria before
the industrial revolution would still be in horse and buggy days.
When you feed people a false narrative long enough, they begin to believe it.
Climate change is merely the morphed moniker of global warming which
is not used anymore because it has been proved to be false. Global
warming / climate change and much of the environmental movement is the brain
child of the founders of agenda 21 namely the UN and is a front to take control
of the productive abilities of nations and enslave the people. Doing
your homework by learning the objectives of agenda 21 might make you thing twice
about joining the "mass movement".
I read some place that everyone in the world could live in a house with space in
the state of Texas. I think we must have an ego the size of Texas to possibly
have any effect on the weather.
The problem with the whole Climate Change debate in the US is that prominent
Democrats like Gore and Clinton picked it up and in today's world if one
party believes something, the other party automatically CANNOT believe it. In
Europe and Asia, Climate Change is a de facto issue for BOTH sides of the
political spectrum. That settled, they go about finding ways to address it -
improving energy efficiency in their power generation (moving towards renewables
like Wind and Solar vs. oil and coal), producing hybrid and electric cars, etc.
The result is they are developing solutions and new technologies while we sit on
our duffs and debate if there is a problem.Once we all realize there
are distinct advantages for our country in developing new solutions and that we
can't take fossil fuels out of the earth and burn them forever without
consequences, we will be in a better place. Stop acting like it is some
conspiracy and move with us into the modern age.
Hillary hasn't heard? Global warming hasn't occurred for the past 17
years. (That is why they stopped calling it global warming). Were it not for
the man made carbon dioxide in the air, the earth would be getting colder and we
would now be headed towards the ice age that scientists predicted in the
We just had the coldest winter in decades in most of the Northern Hemisphere
which was NOT predicted by climate scientists! Come on people use your own
@ higvSo you believe that we don't have an overpopulation
problem? Ever sit in traffic in a developing country -- or in Salt Lake City?
We're expected to have 9 billion people on the planet by 2050, and
Utah's population is suppose to double by then. We aren't getting any
more water or roads... enjoy shorter showers and more life lost sitting in
traffic and pollution!@ G-Day-M8The environmental
movement started long before the UN with Teddy Roosevelt and the emergence of
national parks. Clean energy and clean technology to reduce carbon emissions
are sparking a revolution in industry, from Silicon Valley to red states
building America's growing renewable energy infrastructure. Iowa gets 27
percent of its electricity from wind. Texas gets 10 percent. That's
clean, price stable energy that requires no clean up, tax-payer funded
government oversight of nuke waste or pollution, or Mideast wars to secure. Agenda 21... please! We should be more concerned about Big Oil's
current control over our lives with yo-yo oil prices, its funding of terrorism,
and its demand for American blood shed of our military to keep them in business!
Oh, and one more point: With Putin's take over of Crimea, we're
seeing oil prices on the rise... talk about the "control" of being
addicted to oil and fossil fuels. Price of wind and solar in light
of these events? Nothing... in fact, their costs continue to fall, with wind
now being the cheapest power source of much of the world!
I should think that anything that dries up the wealth of countries like Russia,
Venezuela and Iran would be appealing to those of you who love conspiracies. Why
not develop new technologies and industries to get us off oil that puts money in
the pockets of despots??And stop looking at the weather in
Idaho...this is called Global Warming because the planet as a whole is seeing
increases in average temperature. The glaciers and Polar Ice Cap are reducing in
size. Europe had a very warm winter. Even if it isn't as dire
as some say, why shouldn't we get in the lead in creating new energy
sources and uses. Let's make battery powered cars BETTER than the Japanese
and Germans, instead of sitting around producing the same old gas-guzzling
internal combustion cars and trucks.
Baron Scarpia. I don't know anyone who is opposed to solar or windmills
(except a few million dead birds) but they are not less expensive and the wind
doesn't always blow and the sun doesn't always shine. In the meantime,
where will we get all the electricity to replace fossil fuels?
I can always count on some comments in the DN to take me into a trip through
Memory Lane to the 19th Century. Is Earth being overpopulated
(YES)Are WE destroying our ecosystem (YES)You can argue all
you want based on your beliefs. Try to present some evidence to prove that the
Clintons, the Gores, the Scientific Community are wrong. You
don't want to change your consumerism, that is fine. But please don't
blame the "judgment of God" when we suffer droughts, air and water
pollution, and other ill effects of our own making.
Hillary Clinton set records traveling near a million miles in carbon spewing
aircraft she doesn't want the rest of us to use. Judging by our diminished
foreign standing in the world, those trips now appear to have been superfluous.
I'll start believing climate change is a crisis when our leaders start
acting like it is a crisis.
@Baron there are miles and miles of space without towns. Only crowded spaces
are the cities. And developing countries it is lifestyle and government not too
many people. Hong Kong, now India though they had trouble in the past, Japan
are people starving there? It is also ironic that the machines and fuel that
feeds us is criticized for hurting the planet. Drilling, logging, mining, that
is what gives us our longer life expectancy, comfort and adundance of food.
Climate something beyond our control.
re: higv"Science is a good way to control people."But, religion is the ultimate.
per Baron Scarpia's 2nd post earlier todayAgreed. Russia has
plenty of oil and natural gas reserves. Alot gets exported via the Black Sea.
Now, ask yourself, where is the Crimea located?
Global Climate change is about global trends, not winter in your
neighborhood. We are seeing twice as many record setting high
temperatures than low. We had a cold winter in parts of North
America, we also had record setting heat in Alaska, South America, Africa,
Europe, the Indian Ocean, central Asia, the western Pacific, including the
warmest January ever recorded in Australia. In fact, globally, this was the
fourth warmest January on record. We are seeing increased
desertification around the world. Australia lost almost 35% of its growing land.
Some glacier fields have increased, many have shrunk significantly
or are gone. Antarctic ice is increasing over land - predicted from more
atmospheric moisture - but the calving at the edges has also increased
significantly due to raising water temperatures. Atmospheric CO2 was
measured at 400ppm, the highest ever recorded and 100ppm over the highest
historical levels during the warmest periods in the past.In the last
century global average temperature has increased by 1.4 degrees, with most of
that in the last couple of decades. For 348 consecutive months global average
temperature has been above the 20th century average.Global warming
has not stopped.
Why am I not surprised to see so many "Conservatives" in deep denial?
Yes, there is man-caused climate change, and no global warming has never been
proven to be a hoax, not even close.Global Warming is only a hoax in
Right Wing Fantasy land, the home of Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, FOX
"NEWS," and about 20 million other "Conservatives."Here in the real world, man-caused global warming is very real, and it should
NOT be ignored.
@Gary has global warming been proven to be a fact?
@higv "has global warming been proven to be a fact?"Yes, it
has pretty much been proven to be a fact. The questions now on the table are
"How much?" and "How soon?" and "Can we do anything about it
or have we reached a tipping point?"Look at the global data, not
just what you see in your own back yard.
When was the climate constant? What year was it that, prior to, everything was
If climate change is such a real problem why haven't governments state,
federal and local switched all EX vehicles to natural gas or electric. Practice what you preach and set the example.
NO change in temperature in 116 years. It might be better to have a little
