"Despite a disastrous start . . . " Disastrous? . . . As in
disaster?Like GW's Iraq war fought under false pretenses that
did absolutely no good for the USA and destabilized the Middle East possibly
beyond repair?Like GW's Great Recession caused by irresponsible
Right Wingers in undeserved positions of power and public trust. Now
THOSE are disasters. The Obamacare roll out was no
"disaster." But it did have some major problems. And of
course, one of its major problems (and our nation's major problem) is the
malevolent Right Wing presence that pervades this nation like a toxic cloud.
I've always wondered just how many of the problems encountered in that roll
out were directly due to right wing sabotage. The Koch brothers and others like
them have proven time and again that they are willing to lay down billions of
dollars to hinder the administration's efforts at helping this nation. In any case, in spite of the worst wishes of Right Wing Publications
(like Deseret News perhaps?) Obamacare is a success so far. But of course, it
has issues that need to be resolved, as we always knew it would.
gary,1. I assume you slept through the first 2 years of the Iraq
War. You know, the war that was approved by a strong majority of both houses of
congress. The war that both parties supported. Yes, it was fought for all the
wrong reasons, and it hasn't been of any value to the U.S. at all, but to
claim that it was Bush's war is just false. Americans on both side of the
aisle were angry after 9/11 and demanded action. Our representatives in the
Federal Government gave us what we wanted, right or wrong.2. The
recession you are talking about came about because of the housing crisis. The
housing crisis was triggered by bad mortgages. The bad mortgages came about
because of "equality" laws that required mortgage houses to lend to low
income families who could not afford the mortgage. Those "equality"
laws were put in place primarily by progressive (notice I did not say democrat,
there is a difference) politicians.3. By every imaginable standard,
the initial roll-out of ObamaCare was a complete disaster. (continued)
4. It is the right, and the obligation, of every American to fight against bad
politics.5. There is no way to judge the success or failure of
ObamaCare yet. People have not yet been subjected to the penalties for not
enrolling, and we are still seeing an under-enrollment in the young and healthy
(a required demographic for success). As for my personal experience, my
premiums have nearly doubled since the passage of the law, and living in Utah I
am sheltered from much of those increases until the end of this year.
We'll see what happens in 2015.
Other great presidential quotes:If you like your doctor, you can
keep your doctor. If you like your insurance, you can keep your insurance.
Kirk R Graves -1. Yes, Democrats in Congress were deceived by the
Bush administration into believing our nation was in imminent peril from Iraqi
WMD attacks. 2. The recession was triggered by horrendous
mismanagement on the part of the Bush administration. At the behest
of the housing industry in 2002, GW Bush himself pressured Fannie into giving
no-interest, no-down-payment loans to 5.5 MILLION dirt poor minority
families.“I set an ambitious goal. It's one that I
believe we can achieve. It's a clear goal, that by the end of this decade
we'll increase the number of minority homeowners by at least 5.5 million
families. . . it's going to require a strong commitment from those of you
involved in the housing industry . . . Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac . . . have
committed to provide more money for lenders. They've committed to help
meet the shortage of capital available for minority home buyers.” - GW
Bush 2002The rest is history, and the cause is no mystery.3. WRONG. The GW Bush administration was a disaster.4.
EXACTLY5. So far, so good, in spite of the worst wishes of
malevolent Right Wingers.
Is holding vote after pointless vote to overturn Obamacare the only thing the
House can do these days?
Obama says the health care program is stable huh? This is like saying the
Titanic is stable 30 minutes after hitting the ice berg. Yes just stay on board
people and all will be well...so long as you don't mind living at the
bottom of the Atlantic! "If you like your insurance you can keep your
insurance period". Hmmm....now who was it that gave us those comforting
words...over and over and over? A good test of how stable this sinking ship is
is to simply look at the number of exemptions and delays that are in
place....and continuing to grow by the week for this bureaucratic nightmare of a
bill. A new 2 year delay was added just this week. Mind you ...this is not to
fix anything ...this is just to delay the pain until after elections are over.
1. Wrong. Everyone agreed that the existing intel showed significant risk.
History showed that Iraq had WMD and were willing to use them (Kurds). 2.
A policy that began under Clinton and continued under Bush 2. Yes, Bush blew it.
Yes, his presidency will never go down as one of the top 10, or 30, or 50.
Which is why I said Progressive, not Democrat. I blame the Progressives in both
parties (Bush being one of them.)3. Your reply was nonsense as I was
talking about ObamaCare and you responded about Bush??? If you have no valid
rebuttal, just admit it.4. Glad we agree.5. Again, you claim some
level of success when there are NO metrics to prove it, and a number of metrics
(one of which I mentioned) showing the likelihood of significant future (failure
level) problems with the system.
Yes! $550 every two weeks is good.
"Is holding vote after pointless vote to overturn Obamacare the only thing
the House can do these days?"To answer that question, I direct
you to Kirk R. Grave's point #4 in his post at 1:23 pm on March 14. In case
you missed it, it says "4. It is the right, and the obligation, of every
American to fight against bad politics."So Obama says the health
care program is stable. Well, he said that we could keep our doctor if we would
like. He also said we could keep our insurance if we'd like. He also said
the economy was fixed. He also said he deserved to be a one-term president if he
didn't fix the economy in his first three years (well, I suppose that
statement is technically true, but he didn't follow through on his
promise-- surprise!). He also said about the IRS scandal that there was "not
a smidgen of corruption".Bottom line: Obama has said a lot of
things. We can count on him to be dishonest.
This is good news, without enough young people signing up, taxes would have been
raised to cover the shortfall. Of course we don't know if Obama
is telling the truth this time.
This is scary. The words Obama says makes red flags pop up. Please enlighten me
as to when Obama says means this is the truth. His latest in a long string of
lies is the premiums will be about what your cellphone bill is. Say what? Is
anyone signed up for less than a hundred a month? Or closer to seventy a month.
Wake me up when the words Obama says really mean the truth
I still don't understand how government officials can represent us the
people if they don't have to abide by the same rules? Until that changes,
nothing will be done for the best interest of the people in this country!
And it would have been wonderful if all American political parties had
supported it from the start but DELIBERATELY naming it after A black president
riled up the "UNCIVIL WAR FOLKS",THE US TALIBAN IN CLOWNGRESS.But then
the GOP fought Social Security and Medicare as wellGERMANY has had
national healthcare since 1885, has no deficits and America owes them 300
Billion dollars.Twenty nine other civilized nations had it for decades or a
century or more. American Exceptionalism?
If posts do not contain harsh or "curse words" why does this paper have
