Why would anyone be surprised that the rate has gone down? The government made
it illegal to be uninsured. This is not a success story. The
insurance most people are buying has high premiums and high deductibles, despite
all the fluff that the commercials for healthcare.gov is spreading.Socialism at it's best. Sad.
The take away message from this article is that the poor didn't even want
Obama Care. The uninsured rate has gone down by only 2%. WoW!The
only people who wanted this are liberal politicians. The goal was not to
provide affordable health care, it was to redistribute wealth and gain life and
death control over the people.1. The government has full access to
your entire health history because of Obama Care.2. The NSA knows
everything about you.3. They control who gets health care and who does
not.Everyone will get sick at some point. How hard would it be for
some government flunky to misplace your request for life saving treatment? How does the Obama crowd use private information?Obama
defeated his Democrat opponent for state senate in the primary because David
Axelrod went to his old employer, the Chicago Tribune, and got them to go to a
judge to unseal the divorce records of Obama's opponent. The material was
enough to get the guy to drop out of the race.Same thing happened to
Jack Ryan, only it was the LA Times this time.
The sad part is it should be much closer to zero. If only we'd gotten a
proper single payer system instead of this mess.
I imagine the numbers would be even better if the ACA didn't have a
low-income cutoff for insurance subsidies which effectively says "You
don't earn enough for insurance; have some Medicaid. What, you're in
a Republican state? Sucks to be you."
Have we figured out who will pick up the tab for those previously uninsured? And
where will we get the new doctors to treat them? And what about the treatment
costs? Who will pay for the surgeries and regimen for their pent-up
illnesses?Based on the pathetic planning so far, carrying out the ACA
should be total chaos.
So, after the desperate attempt to positively spin the dismal numbers as much as
possible, what do we have?-- The percentage of uninsured has dropped
an **astonishing** 1.5%, about half of what was projected at this point.-- Hispanics, the most targeted demographic group, has the lowest
percentage of acceptance.-- The share of Americans who lack coverage
is on track to drop to the lowest quarterly level it measured since 2008.
Meaning, we're basically back to where we were before the Great Recession.
Huh?Every fumbling aspect of this disaster in the making has all the
typical signs of ineptitude and ineffectiveness that are the hallmark of
virtually every big government "initiative" that has been cooked up by
these latest socialists. No wonder that it also has all the hallmarks of
dictatorialism in its "buy it or else" purchasing mandate.I
haven't had health insurance for almost 14 years because of a pre-existing
condition that made it prohibitively expense. Nevertheless, having Obamacare
shoved down my throat feels worse than treading the thin ice of no coverage.
When President Obama was campaigning on health care reform, the uninsured rate
was 14.4% (source: Gallup). Now we're celebrating because the
government is spending hundreds of billions of dollars and the uninsured rate is
15.9% (source: Gallup)? It's amazing how willingly some people
adjust their standards in order to fall in line with a party's politics.
All of this raging success, and Dear Leader has announced yet again that key
provisions of this disaster are going to be delayed until 2016. And we know why
this happening, don't we? Democrats are feverishly trying to distance
themselves from this disaster they've heaped on our nation. Dear Leader is
doing what he can to help them with this transparent delay. The
"Individual Mandate" potion of this disaster, saw 5% of the population
lose their insurance coverage due to the provisions written into the law. Now
Obama says they can keep their plans until 2016. Only one problem, they
can't get these plans back. If the insurance companies reinstated these
plans, they would be breaking the law!To those clambering for Single
Payer, be careful what you wish for. If the Feds fully take over healthcare, it
will no longer be about what's best for the patient, cost will be the final
factor. It's very easy to see utopia when you and your kids are healthy.
Many who get a terminal illness would do anything to extend their lives. Under
single payer, this will not happen.
Didn't the Democrats tell us that there were 40 million uninsured? We only
got less than 10% of the uninsured to actually sign up. Doesn't that alone
tell us how big of a failure this is.
