How is it that the Dear Leader can arbitrarily suspend part or all of a law? I
realize he wants to be king, but the last time I looked, this was a
democracy...well, it WAS a democracy.Rule by decree.
nothing but window dressing - the insurance companies will not reinstate them.
The insurance companies never would have dropped them without Obamacare, but
they will not bring them back. Just a band-aid to try and hide the giant pimple
that is Obamacare, at least until after the election.
I agree he should not be able to overtly over rule the law that was passed. This is purely a political play. Most of the current polls show that the House
will gain some democrats but Republicans will most likely gain control of the
senate at the current rate.It is sad to see the executive oligarchs doing
as they wish in enforcement of the laws.Look at the department of justice
as an example, the leader said to state AGs don't defend your states own
laws. That is an AGs job.
The Czar has spoken. So let it be written, so let it be done. With
Harry Reid in the Senate & Obama in the White House blocking all Republican
efforts to correct our nations problems its good we can bypass congress and
simply have a president who will write whatever laws he wants. He
can write the law, sign it, and enforce it...if he wants to.
Where are the liberals? They were outraged at most anything that Bush did, and
constantly claimed that he was exceeding the bounds of the Constitution. Now, we have a clear example of Obama not only failing at his
Constitutional duties to uphold the laws, but Obama is re-writing laws and
executing them in their new form, and is also doing his re-writes without the
concent or approval of Congress. If this was Bush we would already
have 100 posts screaming for Bush to be impeached. The silence from the
liberals tells us that they don't have a problem with ignoring the
constitution. They only have a problem with Republicans.
Barry haters, "what difference does it make?". ..... The guy just
can't help himself.
So when barack promised we'd be able to keep our health plans he really
meant "you can keep your health plans unless I say you can't keep your
health plans"?Thanks barack
I bought a thickness plainer a few years ago along with a two year extended
warranty. My needs changed and now six years later I still have not plugged it
in.Endlessly extending the deadline is like not using a product
until after the warranty has expired. If Obama Care is so good, why do some many
people need to get out of it?If a Republican were doing this Harry
Reid would be holding congressional hearings in to the corruption.
He will dump it all onto Hillary.
What is the legal authority for ANY President to arbitrarily change provisions
of laws passed by Congress? If he gets away with doing this on
Obamacare, then is there any reason he cannot, or will not simply decree that
"the rich" will henceforth be taxed at 99% of their income? Or that
anyone who voted for Democrats will not have to pay any tax at all?It may sound far-fetched, but once we accept that a President's powers to
change laws are unlimited, it is the end of our traditional form of government
based on the rule of law. And, the start of a strong man dictatorship.
How any Obama supporter could deny the inherent hollowness of these leaders,
both democrat and Republican, is beyond me? What a shameful mockery of
integrity we are seeing almost on a daily basis from these pandering power
hungry juveniles! First, Harry Reid, the epitome of the flailing politician
testing the political winds on every issue of the day, or Obama who knows the
damage that is being inflicted on his co-conspirators, it is absolute delusion
to think that these men are anything but men of integrity! Obama and Reid are
nothing compared to the ignorant followers that support them, or their
Republican copy cats.
If Obamacare is so great for the country as touted by the Democrats -- Why has
the Obama suspended or made exception for 30 different parts of it. And they are
spending Millions of taxpayer dollars on advertising to convince people it is
good for them. To top it all off they still don't have all the website
Let me get this straight....the only "accomplishment" of this
'President' in 6 years is the biggest failure in the history of
legislation?Worst. President. Ever.
I agree Redshirt 1701Notice how none of the usual Obama defenders
are nowhere to be found in defense of this. And this is supposed to be Obamas
big legacy. Just goes to show everyone that liberals "Can't Handle the
More in an ever growing stack of proof the government is not capable of running
your healthcare, period!
Smoke and mirrors . Barry is a pro at it.
Whatever. Surely you remember the howls of protest from the Demos when some in
the GOP asked for a delay in Obamacare to "get it right" don't you?
Now guess who is demanding delays? Can you imagine more blatant hypocrisy?
yet another extension band-aide for this train wreck law
Talk about just kicking the can down the road. This doesn't fix anything at
all, but just delays the inevitable . It's only 2 real
objectives are... 1) To try to help democrats past these next 2 elections
(especially this year's), and 2) To pass on this huge, ongoing
headache over to the next president. This administration deserves no
phrase at all for this action. It's main motives are primarily
the definition of a tyrant is someone who makes up his/her own laws without
regard to any other law. Obama should be impeached and it is only the weak knee
politicians, who are in many cases just like him, from either party, that they
won't take this step. The irony is watching the supposedly Constitution
loving citizens of Utah jump on the charade hoping for the best, rather than
standing up for something! It is a mess people and there is nothing that is
going to change unless people understand that it is a mess, perpetuated by a
stream of power hungry weak knee politicians that don't want to do anything
but spout off nonsense in front of a camara and abuse the very citizens they are
supposed to represent. Public servant is an oxymoron of epic irony! Open your
@SCfan"Notice how none of the usual Obama defenders are nowhere to be
found in defense of this."I don't know what to even say. I
mean, you all complain about a provision of Obamacare. Obama does something
about it to address your concern. Then you complain that he did that. So... I
don't know. What's there to say that would be of any practical use at
all? The only plans that get dropped are ones that were created
after Obamacare was passed (the ones before that were grandfathered in) that
didn't meet Obamacare standards, so really... it's the insurance
companies' fault that the plans were dropped. They knew what the standards
would be but they created these plans anyway. Anyone who got onto a plan that
has been dropped, it's said that this is a major burden for them. The only
way to even be on a plan dropped due to Obamacare is for it to be created, and
then signed onto, after Obamacare was created so every one of these people had
to go through picking a new plan within the past 5 years anyway since they got
onto these plans initially.
Atl: I find it frustrating living in a society and culture that believes
liberty and freedom come from giving it to the federal government and being
willing to live without the liberty to make choices anymore. I also find it
ironic that the progressives who want the liberty to make any choice they want,
whether moral or not, and will vociferously defend their right to make immoral
choices, will want the government to dictate to everyone else how to live!
Doesn't integrity require consistency in principled living? Why is it that
people aren't capable of understanding liberty?
Atl:What is it about the statement "If you like your plan, you
can keep your plan. Period" earning 4 Pinocchio's and being honored as
the 2013 "Lie of the Year" that you don't understand?Republicans were happy to make these same changes last fall-you know, during
the debt ceiling debate when the Democrats wouldn't budge and the
government shut down. What is your issue with having the President go through
the Congress to legally make changes to Obamacare instead of him just
unilaterally changing it? He is in the Executive Branch-not the Legislative
Branch. The people who have had plans dropped do not think they are
junk plans-that's why the Obama administration doesn't want more
dropped plans before the next few elections. Many have found the new plans to be
more expensive, less coverage, not covering their doctors/hospitals, and higher
deductibles. It's reflected in current polls that show about 39% approval,
56% opposition to the ACA. It's purely political. I don't
know why you trust your healthcare with these people.
Wow! Quite the unbalanced slant you put on this article Ricardo. And the
comments! Right-Wingers came out swinging like punch drunk fighters seeing
double. Do you really think Republicans can sustain such a level of
unrighteous outrage until the November elections? Maybe they can. But will all
the fuming, and wailing, and teeth gnashing help their cause? For me, that
rolling pity party is an interesting phenomenon to watch from a distance, but I
wouldn't want to get too close to it. I don’t think most swing
voters will actually jump on that rickety bandwagon.Way back in
2009, Obama clearly stated the ACA would be imperfect and would need
modification along the way. Everyone knew that. But since Congress
is now infested with obstructionist anti-government Tea Party ideologues, it
makes perfect sense for the executive branch to take the initiative in making
necessary modifications facilitating the implementation of this beneficial new
law.Republicans elected anti-government politicians into positions
of governmental power. These politicians imbued with an anti-government ethic
have done everything possible to show just how bad government can be. Fortunately, Obama is able to deftly circumvent some of that obstructionism.
So when is a law not a law?Apparently when Obama says it's
not..... Fools. We are led by fools.
@bandersonLiberals tend to apply the "right to life" in the
Declaration of Independence a bit differently than conservatives do. @LoveLifeI explained the context of the statement. Before the ACA was
passed, all plans that existed at the time could be kept under Obamacare since
they'd be grandfathered in. The claim only is false with regards to new
plans created after Obamacare's passage that didn't meet Obamacare
standards, none of which originally existed before Obamacare was signed so the
statement was correct before late 2009 and incorrect afterwards. There's a difference between delaying particular pieces with the intent
to fix them (Democrats) and delaying everything with the intent to never start
it (Republicans). That's why Congress can't manage to fix anything
with regards to this.
To "GaryO" tell us, what has gone well with the ACA? What promise has
actually been kept?Is health insurance cheaper now than it was
before? Will this add to or reduce the deficit? Can you
keep your doctor? Is it a tax or not?Is healthcare
cheaper?I have yet to hear about anything that has gone well. Even
the subsidies have been messed up.It isn't that hard to beat
something that came in DOA.
Atl:I also find your assertion that "Congress can't manage
to fix anything" as an excuse without merit for a couple of reasons:1. They have never been given an opportunity to fix it. There has been
no bill introduced previous to any of Obama's unilateral changes that would
prove that this attempt would be futile. No fighting, no arguing, no
deliberations, no compromising, no committees, no hearings-nothing. Again, Obama
is in the Executive Branch, not the Legislative Branch. Those are supposed to be
equal branches of government. Just because you feel he is justified to make
those changes doesn't make it legal. 2. The Republicans offered
a one-year delay in return for the debt ceiling extension. Now we are looking at
a two year delay-and that is better how? If this law is so great,
why are Democrats/liberals like yourself willing to excuse these delays now but
were excoriating those who were trying to delay a law that was so obviously not
ready for primetime? Republicans can't delay it forever if one year is
agreed to and that is what is signed into law.
