It sounds like some of these potential Canadian immigrants were counting their
chickens before their eggs hatched. And now they are trying to make Canadian
government officials feel guilty in a last-ditch attempt to get their own way.
Rich people around the world aren't used to not getting what
they want. Their attitude is that money is supposed to be able to buy
anything... even citizenship to other countries.
Let's see - there are 65,000 people willing to hand you 500K-1mil each and
you're deciding to stop it all, just because your secretaries are
"backlogged"? Seems like just a couple of those investments could pay
for any additional staff to take care of the entire backlog. Unless Canada has
other unstated reasons to stop the program (nearly every country in the world
has some form of a similar program), it sounds like Canada's passing up
easy money from a group of financially stable businesspeople.
Why not the US? Is it because our immigration enforcement doesn't follow
the rule of law? Why would a countries welfare system attract millionaires? Maybe other countries are following Mexico's example and
"farming out" citizens to other cultures to build their country, and
Canada has wised up.
Dare I suggest a little isolationism is in order? The economy is sluggish,
unemployment is high, the trade balance is way off and assimilation is low.Oh wait, I was thinking about the United States. We import needy people from
the third world yet our teens can't even find jobs. What's wrong
with this picture? It sounds like Canada is acting in its own interest
rather than the interests of the politicians. What a novel idea.
