Isn't hpocritical ans sad that those who support illegal immigrants being
able to take jobs away from law abiding Americans are those who throw a fit when
corporations send jobs overseas. They both result in Americans losing jobs to
non-Americans. There is no difference. Well, except for the fact that one is
legal and the other is not.
This is politics, plain and simple. As has been the case with most social
issues over the past 50 years, the GOP just does not have the stomach to lead.
They have the majority in Congress and can certainly pass a bill if they could
get their own members to just compromise within their own party.
Heavens forbid we get anything done in an election year.
@FT: This is not a social issue. It is an issue of whether or not our laws
will be enforced or ignored. No Administration since 1986 has fully enforced the
current law. No Congress has fully funded enforcement either. So until our
Gov't can prove that they know how to fund and enforce the current laws
there should be no changes made.
@techpubsImmigration laws are being enforced more now than ever. As with
every law, there are degrees of variation but anyone who has studied immigration
and is objective agrees that there is more enforcement now than there ever has
been. I've been traveling the SW for years and just go South of Phoenix and
look for yourself if you don't think things have gotten much better over
the last 5 years. For the GOP this is strictly political within their own
ranks. The party cannot come to a compromise to get something passed.
It's just a ruse to say something would be done if they trusted BO on
enforcement. I'm afraid that the GOP needs to lose another national
presidental race before they realize they swept this under the rug for too long.
@VSTBut rarely do you see one political party be so dysfunctional within
it's own caucus to get something passed. I cannot support the GOP because
outside of hating Obama I don't know what they stand for and what
they'll do. Seems they're just content to shoot themselves in the
foot instead of taking aim on the important issues of our day.
This do-nothing Congress continues its trend. But, it hits a new low when
Boehner and others blame Obama for their own inability to act.
Why pass new laws when Obama won't enforce them. Our immigration policy has
been to give amnesty the past 30 years. It's a failed policy.
When we already have 50 million Americans out of work, why would we want another
30 million competing for those jobs? There's nothing at all
wrong with the laws we already have. Just enforce them.
Watch out for John Boehner, he wants to wait until after the party primaries to
keep supporters from losing their party nomination(Like Bennett). Then he will
try to pass a version of the toxic Senate bill for the business lobbyists.
Who represents the GOP?I say the platform the delegates approved in 2012
is the place to look.We oppose amnesty because it rewards bad behavior. We support a strong border defense. We support enforcement partnerships
between local and federal law enforcement. What Boehner and Ryan have been
selling favors businesses (the Chamber) and panders to Latino voters who are
going to vote democrat anyway. So, to those who think
Boehner/Rove/Ryan/Rubio/Cantor/Hatch represent the Republican voters, you are
mistaken. And election years are when they fear the voters. This is NOT a
Tea Party thing. It is the platform of the mainstream party to oppose amnesty
plans, regardless of what the elites want to call it.
"FT" IF the laws were being enforced we wouldn't even be talking
about a "new" law.The border patrol says illegal alien
trespassers are coming en masse. Who should we believe, Obama, or the border
patrol? Most of us know the answer to that one!
@ Fitness FreakWe have laws and enforcement for murder, rape, etc and yet
those acts continue as well. Please, anyone looking at this objectively knows
the GOP can't pass legislation because they can't unify on something.
Time to throw them all of them out of office and get some people in there who
can get something done. Have you driven along the border lately?
It's a war zone. Every car gets pulled over at least once and checked out.
No way you can keep everyone out.
