By his flawed and perverted logic, if you and I were to not pay our taxes for 10
years, then all that would be forgiven? This person is just another
voice in the Obama chorus arbitrarily ignoring laws, failing to enforce laws,
and ignoring our constitutional form of government. We have instead, government
by decree, and use of they government bureaucracy to intimidate and extort
political enemies.Remember Fast and Furious, refusal to prosecute
New Black Panther voter intimidation, IRS harassment of conservative groups,
selective prosecution (e.g.- Dinesh D'Souza), failure to enforce
immigration laws, refusal to prosecute arrested immigration violators, Benghazi
denials and endless other examples.Worse, Obama is stealing
veterans' earned pensions and demanding huge raises for federal contract
workers.This is intolerable!
Oh, for heavens sake, stick to the topic. It is a myth that people who are here
without documentation can gather their families, pop back to their country of
origin, and fill out some paperwork to get here legally. I have known righteous
undocumented immigrants who felt inspired to come to the U.S. I have known
hardworking young people who were brought here as children and excelled in
school, but faced an uncertain future because of the lack of options for
becoming legal. If an undocumented immigrant came here after 9/11, especially
from Mexico and a few other Latin American countries, s/he would need a lot of
money and a lot of luck to get back in after leaving, and no hope of becoming
legal by declaring, "I want to do this right," once here. Our
immigration policies need fixing. Earning the right to remain here would bring
many immigrants out of the shadows. A lot of people who claim to love God and
their fellow man are really full of hate.
@Janet - so demanding that other people obey the law is being full of hate? Not
qualifying for immigration benefits does not give people the right to break the
law. Let's say for the sake of argument that illegal aliens are offered a
path to citizenship. What would you do with the next wave of illegal aliens?
Would you provide another amnesty? Where do you think we should draw the line?
If 11 million people broke a law, and it did not benefit the business community,
we would be enforcing it. People are full of hate because they feel that letting
business use cheap illegal labor is wrong?Another amnesty would
guarantee the next wave would be larger and more demanding. The only way to stop
people from coming here illegally is to enforce our laws. You
don't reward illegal behavior, and people should never earn citizenship by
breaking the law and demanding it. @Janet, that myth brings us over
a million people a year, more than anytime in our countries history.
"IF" we were to allow illegal aliens here now to stay, I'd start
with building a fence the entire length of the southern AND norther borders and
post armed guards in pairs every 100 yards.I'd have a 100 day
period for illegals to register/identify themselves.I'd require
them to pay all state/federal backtaxes (if owed). A $100 a month minimium
payment would be required.I'd require a fine of $100 a month
for every month they've been in the US illegally (applied to those who came
here over the age of 18). A minimum payment of $100 a month would be required
until paid in full.I'd revoke the citizenship of anyone born
here as the child of an illegal alien.I'd require that all
illegal aliens here learn to speak, read and write English to an 8th grade level
(and prove it) within 2 yrs (3 yrs if > 45 yrs old).I'd
mandate all businesses must do business here in American in English.I'd have the illegal aliens take citizenship classes and pass the
required tests. Then, after all that, I'd grant them citizenship
but would NOT allow them to vote.Ever.
To clarify my previous comment: the children of those who are here now illegally
would have their American citizenship revoked (no, the 14th Amendment was never
meant to grant citizenship to 'anchor babies'), however those same
children would be able to gain full American citizenship, including voting
rights, after taking the required citizenship classes. The reason I
would not allow illegal aliens here now (those who came here over the age of 18)
to vote is because the Democrats continually claim "compassion" is
what's needed. Well, "compassion" is granted under my plan, by
letting them stay in a safe country, with their families and with a job.
However, conservatives are 100% correct in saying that the Democrats pander
incessantly to illegals/their families by promising an endless supply of
perks....so the children of the illegal aliens vote Democrat.Letting
them all stay but NOT vote (the elders who originally broke our laws) is the
perfect balance.Anyone ('student' or 'teacher')
caught cheating on the language or citizenship tests either gets deported in 7
days or loses their citizenship, or both.Anyone not registering
within the 100 days and is found out later, is deported within 7 days.
So does my plan sound harsh?Oh, well. Anything worthwhile is worth
protecting. If you don't protect it, you don't value it.
The proof is in the pudding.America is valuable, far, far beyond
what most of us here think. What a shame. Our country, our culture,
our way of life and the goodness that Americans everywhere have shed on the
world, is worth protecting.America: love it or leave it.
Washington logic never ceases to amaze me.When GWB was pushing for amnesty
back in 2006-7 who did he send to the hill to do his bidding? The very man
charged with protecting our borders and enforcing immigration law - DHS
Secretary Michael Chertoff! So, here we are again with another apologist
for illegal aliens.A different administration; the same nonsense. As
long as those in a position to enforce the law refuse to do so, you can be
assured that illegal aliens will not feel motivated to obey our laws.
It's called "illegal immigration" for a reason.
Does anyone remember with chagrin when Reagan capitulated to the Democratic
Congress on amnesty? They promised to pass strict employer penalties for hiring
illegal immigrants. Guess who never followed through with their commitment.
Guess who never follows through with their promises. The moral of the
story: you can't make a good deal with a bad Congress.
