Hey, DNews........ Why don't you let readers comment on the rankings. It
attracts a lot more people to the site, and it lets people discuss who should be
ranked and why........
I guess that I should have posted the top five RPI in 2A boys basketball instead
of all 24? I believe my formula is very accurate. In fact my top five were the
same as the DNews. I was only trying to generate some conversation to help you
While 2A looks competitive, this could be the year that both the South Sevier
boys and girls teams hoist the gold trophy simultaneously!
Hey JD Books; You should get a good look at how accurate you are in picking
South Sevier boys to win it all Tuesday when Wasatch Academy comes to Monroe. And I have all the respect in the world for South Sevier's
Got to agree with 1A-all the way, the rankings are a joke. Duchesne beat
Pnguitch, who beat Paiute, but both are ranked above Duchesne? What
does it take to get ranked over someone, if beating them doesn't do it?
I love 1A basketball as well. So, to Duchesne fan.I agree with the
DNews on the 1A rankings.Duchesne's loss to Gunnison was a bad lose.
Panguitch's win over Enterprise and Parowan were good wins. Again, I
know all about Duchesne and their tradition also. They have a very good team
Carver...Don't put too much stock in that Gunnison game.
Duchesne had only 5 days of practice going into it, since they had just come off
state football, and 3 of their starters were not there, as they were all
involved in a musical production at home and couldn't make the trip.
Basically Gunnison stomped the Duchesne JV. Taking nothing from Gunnison, they
did exactly what they were supposed to do, not their fault that Duchesne
didn't bring a full team. So the fact remains...if you
don't get ranked over a team you beat in an actual game...what do the
rankings actually mean?
I would like to see a state wide statistic for all teams by player that shows
attempts/made baskets. For years the tradition has been to list by name the high
scorers in every summary and story. No one knows how many shots that player put
up to get those points. I think that seeing this stat would help change the mind
set of recruiters and players, as well as coaches. The way it is now it just
promotes selfishness and gives a false perception of who played well.
