Not a chance with a Do Nothing Congress. Reality is the GOP is happy with the
14 ml living and working here on the cheap and under the radar.
Obama has used every political point to punish his enemies. But weakened by his
lies, perhaps now he will finally do something for the right
reason--strengthening America.Perhaps now Obama will finally reach
out to compromise.
daviddon't hold your breath. barry only does things for political
gain. right reason? not a chance.
"The statistics are actually a little deceptive," Obama said last month
(Sept 2011) during a discussion with Hispanic journalists. There has been "a
much greater emphasis on criminals than non-criminals." And "with
stronger border enforcement, we've been apprehending folks at the borders
and sending them back. That is counted as a deportation even though they may
have only been held for a day or 48 hours." (other Presidents never included
them in deportation numbers)In 2010 he let 160,000 felons out of
jail, if they promised to self deport. They were counted as deportations. His deportation numbers are a lie also.
Let's not forget that Obama undid 300,000 deportation orders after they had
already been adjudicated. All with the stroke of a pen. This amnesty thing
is a fairness issue. ONE THIRD of all foreign-born are here illegally. Most are
taking jobs from our low-skilled citizens and our teens. And their very presence
drives down wages and benefits.Let's abide by the laws on the books
and enforce the law. Amnesty only dissolves the notion of a border and
immigration laws.No amnesty. No pathway to citizenship. Go to the back of
the line...in your own country.
Just what good is it to make new immigration laws when the many of the current
ones are not enforced anyway? Chances are, no matter what laws are passed, if
you have an administration, like both Bush and Obama, there will not be any
enforcement of the parts of the laws that are not PC. Same as we have now.
Immigrants influence elections in a big way. And as a result, America becomes
more like the countries the immigrants fled from.
Obama does not enforce immigration laws we have now. What good will NEW laws be?
Waste of time!
@ FT:Where did you get the 14 million number from? The article said
there are 11 million illegals. And why do you think the GOP is happy to do
nothing about those illegals already here? The truth is, most GOP
citizens want existing laws enforced. That means better border security and no
rewards for existing law-breakers. The only ones happy with legalizing those who
have blatently broken our immigration laws are democrats who see those illegal
aliens as potential new voters for their party.Another truth...
People all around the world who are going through the laborious process of
becoming legal citizens the right way, are feeling cheated by these current
illegals trying to jump to the head of the line and using up their allocated
annual legal immigration numbers. One more truth... The majority of
the 11+ million illegals already here are untrained and uneducated, with most
not even having high school diplomas. As such, they do compete with that
segment of our legal work force and have shown themselves willing to work for
below-market wages. Therefore, they are suppressing wages and stealing jobs from
citizens... thereby increasing unemployment numbers.
USALoverYou do bring up a good point about what immigrants bring to
America. If for instance they come from a socialistic country where they expect
all good things come from government then that is likely how they will vote here
in America. The problem with most 3rd world type countries is there is no
middle class, and no real capitalistic economy from which to grow the population
into a middle class. If immigrants come to America and do not understand what
it means to access the American dream, then they will naturally gravitate toward
the political party that "gives" them the most. In this case that is
the Democrat Party, and they will continue to give and give and give stuff and
money to get the votes of immigrants. If that continues on, as it is now going,
then I don't see any possible outcome but economic ruin coming from too
much obligation to entitlements, health care, pensions, ect. At some point, if
we don't start growing this economy and paying down the 17 trillion debt,
it will become 18 trillion, then 19 trillion.......... and eventually
@Say NO to BO"Most are taking jobs from our low-skilled citizens and
our teens. And their very presence drives down wages and benefits." Sounds like the scenario that has happened numerous times when new
ethnic groups have come to the U.S. (i.e. Polish, Italian, German, etc., etc.).
Their first generations here did not learn the language, but they were citizens
and the group eventually integrated. With things as they are with
the Latinos, they can't become citizens while here and there is a huge
divide between them and us. Also, it seems easy enough for them to get
government help while still disliking "gringos." Also, they are
criminals by definition if they are here illegally. It all adds up to a
distinct adversarial role between the races. You can tell just by listening
their all-Spanish news. Neither do they pay income and Social Security
taxes.I gotta believe there's a way to accommodate those who
have come here. We were unwise enough to have no immigration policy in force
for long enough that deporting them all now would be real problem. This nation was built on the backs of legal immigrants.
