Stupid show, stupid comments. Sounds as if he can share a place with
MSNBC's Martin Basheer.
Regarding entertainers, sports stars, commentators, politicians:In 2013
they cannot, on TV, offer an unflattering personal opinion about gays, and
mention the Bible in the same paragraph. In the near-future it won't
be tolerated to offer unflattering opinions about adulterers-gay or straight. Then comes being banned for offering a negative personal opinion about abusers
of alcohol & drugs or those who engage in unmarried recreational sex.At some point a public figure will be banned for saying that a 2-parent home
is the ideal or that someone who bares it all publicly is an exhibitionist or to
offer true demographics about crime. Then comes being banned for calling a
fat person fat, or opining that abortion can have a downside, that a gay
lifestyle is a major contributor to AIDS, that porn has negative consequences or
that some homeless people could do better. Meanwhile, what is
sanctioned/guaranteed to stay on TV: flaunting Miley "twerking"
Cyrus, soap opera adultery, plenty of recreational sex by the unmarried, hook-ups
that lead straight to bed as if that was synonymous with true love, gambling
shows, foul language, lots of skin, gratuitous violence and ongoing smirking
about religion. How exciting!
I'm waiting for the backlash from the "tolerance" crowd against
Charlie Sheen and his hate-filled comments regarding Duck Dynasty. What he said
was far far worse than what Phil Robertson said but I'm guessing we
won't hear much about it.You're allowed to personally
insult and curse out anyone who disagrees with you as long as you're only
doing it to someone religious. Meanwhile, religious folk can't even speak
publicly about their beliefs without being suspended, fired, or sued.
Why anyone would care what he or charlie sheen says, is beyond me.You are
free to say what ever you want, this does not relieve you of the consequences of
those action. This has already out lived it's entertainment
value, and the Gov. of La. is shortsighted.
I support what he said and am impressed with his courage.Keep up the
good work duck dynasty
I guess the DesNews is way behind the times. It was already reported today
(through a leak from the producers on A&E that Papa Duck will be back next
season and they are finalizing a contract for the fifth season including Papa
Duck. I've always contended that this was nothing more than a ruse to
capitalize on profits and further promote the show. As we learned from the
Miley Cyrus twerking episode, bad behavior gets you ratings and popularity and
money. While Miley may twerked her rear end, Papa Duck twerked his mouth. The
result is the same for both of them. A&E can laugh all the way to the bank,
and the mindless Duck Dynasty follower can count themselves as used. They fell
for this hook, line, and sinker.
@thriller Of course Sheens rant was vile and inappropriate but it
does not excuse Robertson's vile and inappropriate comment (which the DN
will not reproduce in full because of its offensive content) . frankly I could
care less what either one thinks and that A&E overreacted but then again I
think there is some truth to king courts comment and that they are all laughing
all the way to the bank.
@spring street and HVHI'm with you, I too don't really
care what either has to say. What bothers me is the double standard.
Sheen's rant was worse in my mind because it targeted a specific individual
whereas Robertson's was directed at the behavior of a group.Frankly, I'm not surprised by either of their comments, what did people
expect Phil Robertson's stance to be on homosexuality? And I would expect
nothing less from Sheen. But to see the public crucifixion Robertson went
through compared to barely a blurb at the bottom of the page for Sheen is a
disgraceful double standard.
I can be fired in 29 states for being gay. Where is my help?
If you replace the word gay in his statement with anything else you can see how
much of a bigoted statement it was. I'm sure he feels the same
way about the Mormon religion and Utah. Would you support his comments then or
is bigotry only bad when it effects you? There was no uplifting point
to his statements, they were purposeless except to attack others he feels are
imperfect. That's not Christlike is it? So why support his statements?
