There are more serious matters facing this country then same sex marriage.
worfMcallen, TXThere are more serious matters facing this country
then same sex marriage.Really? Really? Do you mean that States who
rudely deny the Federal benefits to lawful military spouses should do so,
because you don't like same sex marriage? The issue is done --
All military spouses must be treated equally, when legally married.Would
you single out some of our brave military for 2nd class status? What
you are saying is simply an excuse to deny rights, since the States'
complying would take no substantial effort. You are simply agreeing with some
States giving a rude gesture toward Washington and this President.I
suggest, since we are on and lds website, that you talk to Jesus about this --
maybe He will enlighten you.
@worf;There's no reason we can't deal with multiple issues
at one time in this country.Civil rights are as important as any
other issue we face. The individual states need to realize that we
are ONE country, not a conglomeration of many small countries. Except for
same-sex marriages, no other group has their marriages automatically annulled
when the couples cross state lines. That is NOT equal treatment of all citizens
and it is not Constitutional.
""Not only does this violate the states' obligation under federal
law, their actions have created hardship and inequality by forcing couples to
travel long distances to federal military bases to obtain the ID cards
they're entitled to," he said."Good for Hagel.@worf --"There are more serious matters facing this country
then same sex marriage."Really? You wouldn't think so,
given all the predictions of the apocalypse that have been flying around. Try
telling all the religious conservatives that there are bigger things for them to
be worrying about -- like the heterosexual divorce rate, or rising poverty
rates, or the defunding of education, and so on.
