Let's fix the website. The product it supports is good, at least better
than we had. We really should have gotten single payer health care.
How is Utah 's site working?
@ Hutterite. Obamacare IS a single payer system. Those who currently have
insurance or employers who provide insurance are now paying higher premiums and
taxes so those who don't have insurance will get it free or heavily
subsidized. That's what you wanted isn't it? Other people forced to
pay for your healthcare!
When I was about 16 my dad told me to always look into funny noises coming from
the car. He said, "Problems never get better on their own."So, we
have a government program that they knew was broken when they turned it on. What
were they thinking? And Obama is sidestepping his responsibility as he
always does. He takes the role of an outside observer. "This is
unacceptable," as though he had nothing to do with it. That little trick of
his is getting old.Obama apologists will say that he is too high up. He
doesn't do the programming. He's an important man and others handle
the details, be it barricading monuments or enforcing immigration law.But
the buck stops with him. And since ACA is his legacy one would think he would be
on top of it and monitor the roll-out. No doubt he would take the credit had it
gone well.Sorry, Mr. President. You own this fiasco regardless of what you
say at a press conference.
"He [Obama] also promised a "tech surge" by leading technology
talent to repair the painfully slow and often unresponsive website."=======================Beyond the obvious failures of the
website itself, if anyone wanted to known how unqualified Obama is to talk
about, much less implement something like this, his promise that a "tech
surge" would be the answer is the best sign.Anytime you get
someone with no experience in software design but who uses the magical thinking
so prevalent among those with inflated egos (President Obama is a perfect
example) to assume they know what it takes to "tech surge" a fix, the
inevitable result is the kind of flat-on-its-face flub that we see with this
mess. After wasting about as much money on it (so far) as he did on
Solyndra, I'll bet Obama even considers this just another minor booboo.
After all, what's a mere $500M+ in the grand scheme of things? :o/
What a mess. I've created many software systems and try to reduce
dependency on external sites as much as possible. Every time external interface
adds risk because your system can fail if the other site is down or slow. It
also creates a maintenance headache because as the other system changes its
specification, you have to change your system to match. I'm
sure that these decisions were not made by the programmers. There are thousands
of requirements mandated by government bureaucrats. No wonder it doesn't
perform well. Just the subsidy rules are complicated and hard to test.
I'm curious if these systems already had well defined interface points, or
if some of them were added to support calls from the health site? Why is there
a need to interface with the Peace Corp?Has anyone been able to
determine the net accuracy of all of these interlinked systems? For years
we've been hearing that E-verify is bad because it's error rate is 0.3
percent. I've seen many news articles where health benefits are denied
because "minor children are in jail", or citizenship isn't
verified. Is this identity theft related?
Mountanman'You said "Those who currently have insurance or
employers who provide insurance are now paying higher premiums and taxes so
those who don't have insurance will get it free or heavily subsidized.
That's what you wanted isn't it? Other people forced to pay for your
healthcare!" The only difference is before I was paying the
total bill for people to have health care, now I am only paying a part of it.
Who do you think was paying for all those people without insurance who show up
at the emergency room? In terms of higher premiums, they have been going up for
the last 20 years at almost double digits each year. If anything they should be
going down, because we don't need to charge me five times the real cost to
cover the cost of the persons without insurance.I am all ears if the
republicans have a better idea, that allows for people to have healthcare
without costing me anymore than I am currently paying.
Obama cost tax payers, with his Sylyndra, campaign/fund raising trips,
vacations, and windmill projects. Now he's more upset than us,
with his web site glitches? Is Obama a by-stander with all this
wasting of tax payer money?Who is the leader, and the one in charge?
See when a republican has a flat tire they just do away with cars and go back to
the horses since cars don't work. This is ridiculous, the
website has glitches. So what? Republicans won't let medicare
negotiate lower prescription drugs prices. Fix that.
@ worfValerie Jarrett?
anytime BO tries anything other than campaigning, he fails.redshirt007repubs change the tire before they take the car out of the
garage, they don't display it in the parade with a flat tire
barry speaks as though he is having an out of body experience. someone clue him
in that HE is the problem. It might get fixed if he leaves office, i hope i hope
Give the administration a break. They were given only had threes and under $400
million to prepare a website and test it. Five days before the opening Mr. Obama
promised that it would be like online shopping, No Problem. He should be furious
with his handlers.
I think we all need to admit this is the biggest scam since watergate. 300
million plus for a website that doesn't work, really? This president has
had so many impeachable moments I can't believe he is still in office. And
the best he can do is apologize for the website not working. There
are tons of smart people in the working world that can solve this problem
through correct economic and true principles of capitalism. Stop bailouts, stop
government control, let government regulate commerce between the states, not
take it over.
Obama's jobs plan has worked about the same way --It has been 5 years and
it still isn't fixedWhat makes anyone think they can fix this
Go to a classroom.Subsidize the students with low grades by taking
points from those on the honor roll.Soon, they will all be low level
performers. Is America becoming a low performing country?
You'd have to be a clueless buffoon to believe that Obamacare is actually a
good idea. You'd have to be an even bigger fool to believe it
@ worf - Mcallen, TX - "Go to a classroom. Subsidize the students with low
grades by taking points from those on the honor roll. Soon, they will all be low
level performers. Is America becoming a low performing country?"Worf - Sadly, yes, we are....When I think of
what America COULD be and what we are, I hang my head in disgust and cry...
