I would think it would be difficult for fans OR players to be excited about playing games this late in the season with nobodies, with no bcs bowl or power conference title implications. Bronco historically does a great job about getting his guys ready for meaningless games.

I think byu gets this win(although I thought byu would beat Virginia, who doesn't have another division I win)

    Typical goals for teams:

    Win conference
    Enjoy bcs glory
    Bowl game
    Bet rival

Only one of these is alive for byu, and the weak bowl is already determined

It must be tough watching your rival have all four of these still possible. Am I right?

Bronco is a mastermind at winning worthless games however, so byu probably gets this win

More ute fans with NOTHING to do with their lives than follow BYU. I love following teams who are worthless too with nothing to play for. Arizona is licking their chops playing a team who left everything on the field, once again.

Could you miss a more obvious pushoff?

Houston has scores from all areas of the game so far...wow.

Would byu win a single game in the pac 12?

    Doubtful

    @Big 12 on Call yet? :

Being independent, Do any of BYU's games have real significance?

It seems that if they aren't going undefeated or aren't playing to stay bowl eligible (last game 5-x record) then most games are just games...

Did our defense and special teams decide not to show up today?

To the troll...Taysom still has 4 more INTs to match the great Travis Wilson's ineptitude for a game. "LOL"

Defense needs to buckle down, offense needs to stop all the penalties...halftime 456 yards of offense to Houston's 250. Offense gave a TD in the first half but they've put a beat down on Houston in the first half...defense you need to step up.

Insecure True Blue BYU fans are snarky. They even turn against other BYU fans. I am a BYU alum, and had season tickets every year... until they got selfish and went Indy. Since then, although I am a FINO (Fan in name only), I hate Independence, and I hate what it has done to this program.

Wow, that game was THE best game I've seen this year. Wow, what a game! BYU set some amazing records. Incredible, incredible game. Happy they got a win.

Every year there's a game or 2 that your better side of the ball struggles. That's when you need the other side of the ball to make plays. BYUs defense wasn't very good today (how bad do we miss Johnson & Trammel), but the offense, despite numerous mistakes and boneheaded episodes, made big plays when it was needed. Last year BYU loses this kind of game, but this year because the offense is making so much progress, they come away with a win.

Hats off to Houston, they're a gutsy team with a lot of playmakers. They deserve some credit for being a pretty good team (better than most people thought).

Very entertaining game, glad the Cougs pulled it off.

Tooooooo close for comfort. Fun game though like the old days. What happened today? Nothing going BYU's way till the end. Houston QB someone to watch in the next few years.

I would think it would be difficult for fans OR players to be excited about playing games anytime during the season knowing that you're nothing but cannon fodder for the big boys of the conference to determine bcs bowl and conference title aspirations.

BYU got a "W" against a pretty good football team today. Looking forward to seeing utah get embarrased by a mediocre Arizona team tonight.

Unlike some other fellow Ute fans on this board, I compliment BYU on their gutsy win today. Come on, you guys, let it go. It only serves to rile up BYU fans like Tom in CA. Let's focus more on our own game and let the others go.

For a Sophomore quarterback to go on the road and come from behind in a game like this is a real accomplishment. Hill accounts for over five hundred yards of total offense and rushes for over a hundred. We have ourselves a quarterback. Also good to see Apo get two scores and for Hoffman to break the all time receiving record and the all time catches record. There were way too many penalties, and some badly blown coverages, but we are now 5-2 and our QB gains confidence and experience every game. Go Cougars.

    @Utenanymous,

Top 10 Stanford(who just beat UCLA) would disagree with your assessment.

We should put all the rivalry hate aside and join forces in supporting the ONE and ONLY premier program in our state, who is still very much alive(just 1 game back) in the Pac 12 title hunt with the Rose Bowl as a reward.

What do you say byu fans?

"Top 10 Stanford(who just beat UCLA) would disagree with your assessment.".

You mean Stanford who beat a Bruin team that U couldn't. This just goes to show that any team can win on any given Saturday. I watched Stanford v UCLA today. I know ute fans don't like it, but the truth is Stanford played like Stanford today...not so much against Utah. I've watched Stanford 5 times this year including Utah last week. They weren't even close to be the same team against Utah. Now the argument may be that Utah had something to do with that, but if that were the case how come Utah couldn't beat UCLA by 2 TDs like Stanford did. See Chrissy...the best team doesn't always win & Stanford is better than Utah. The rest of the season will provide evidence of my assessment. "Mark it down" LOL

Gutsy win. BYU fans must have had a few heart attacks along the way. BYU's schedule works. They get that "exposure' thing going in different markets with games they should usually win. No doubt their schedule isn't as tough as Utah's schedule, but that wouldn't really bother me all that much if not for all the BYU fans who think they are the better team all the time when they have the better overall record.

BYU could have lost this game with a crazy score like the one Utah lost with to OSU(51-48). To Taysom Hill's credit he bounced back from some turnovers and adversity to put up numbers and make plays down the stretch to win the game.

Today's game actually reminded me of that Utah vs Oregon State game when Travis Wilson made errors and kept rebounding to rack up stats (passing and rushing as well) to lead a comeback. Utah faltered in overtime, but I see two solid young QBs in SLC and Provo for the years to come. Too bad we don't have the rivalry game in that time. Maybe a bowl game but that's overkill to me.

I say that it just proves that on any given day the utes are capable of beating a team. The U left everything they had on the field beating Stanford. The tank is now empty again.

U may be in a AQ program, but I'd say it is not so premier as you like to claim. Oregon is the only team that keeps the PAC12 from falling to the depths of MWC calibur. Every one of the remaining teams would NOT be intimidating to play. BYU could give any of them a good game. Even beat them.

And remember. BYU had already knocked off a top ten team before you were born. Probably.
