I guess only 3 in 10 people understand and love our precious constitution.
The article states that 70% disapprove of Republicans. If my math is right...
that means 30% approve of them? So, if 50% disapprove of the
President, that means 50% 'likes him?Havig 50% approve you is
mathematically better than have 30% approve of you?I have been in
the minority when it comes to politics in Utah since I moved here in 1989.
I've always been frustrated by the lack of respect shown me as a minority
constituent in the political process. Now I'm in the majority
and my elected officials are going against the popular notion/opinion. Go
First of all, I don't trust polls. I don't trust much of any outlet
these days that is supposed to deliver "the truth." That being said, I
would be one of the "7 out of 10" at least directed toward the GOP. They
are spineless, cowards, seeking praise of the world, incompetent, and derelict
of duty. If they had integrity and an eye towards SERVING their constituents,
the constitution, and this country, a lot of this garbage would not be
happening. IMO, the Dems are the party of sins of commission, and the
Republicans are the party of the sins of omission, though they have made great
strides in committing various sins of late. I dislike the Repubs/RINO/traitor
party more than I dislike the Democrat party. And I used to be a Republican. And then we have our Child-In-Chief, showing how immature and petty he
is. It is one thing to have someone fill that office with whom you disagree
with, but to have a jerk in the office? Pathetic.
The poll taken Oct. 3-7 finds few people approve of the way Obama is handling
most major issues, and most people say he's not decisive, strong, honest,
reasonable or inspiring. The truth is finally getting through the
media filters. It's too bad we didn't get a chance to see a
Romney presidency. He promised to donate his presidential salary to the US
Treasury. He would have been different. His entire career was spent analyzing
problems and finding solutions. We could have benefitted well from Romney. Here's hoping we get fresh faces in DC in 2014 on both sides of the
aisle. Here's hoping we can get real leaders who will change the
trajectory of our federal debt, change entitlement programs, change the ACA,
change our stagnant economy.
That's probably seven in ten are dimocrats.
People on both sides of the aisle said this was foolish and the damage would
spread wide, especially to republican tea party members. Get to work and fix it.
Bored to the point of THIS!Google AP-GfK poll. It's the first one of
their site, it has the math there under "Download Topline". Well Mr Senator Mike Last Term has definitely ended his career in Washington,
that's for sure.
The best thing about these polls is that they reinforce the untethered,
irrational perspective of the tea party/hardline conservatives that
"everyone is out to get them." It's only a matter of time before
they're completely excised from American society and, ironically,
it'll be due to mostly self-inflicted wounds.
This means nothing. Coming from an uneducated, entitled society, we may never
reach the greatness this country once had.
I am so glad the American people are smart enough to see that the Republicans
are to blame for this whole mess. I can't wait to see how many seats the
GOP will loose in the next election. Hillary in 2016???? I hope so.
Bill---I guess you include the Supreme Court as not understanding the
I've got money to bet on the wish that this is Senator Lee's last
term. He is a stud!!! Doing things to protect the country instead of his
party. The problem in washington, and the rest of the country, is that the
majority care more about the party and not the country. Out of control
spending, Obumacare, Amnesty etc... are not good for the country. We need
people who will do what they say even if they suffer some poll number
decline. To all of those who say that it's the Repubs fault.
Explain how obama and reid have been willing to find middle ground. They want
their way or the nothing. reid hasn't brought any GOP bills up for vote.
They don't get to offer ammendments, he doesn't pass a budget for
years, (baseline budgeting), and somehow the other guys are completely to
blame.Personally, I would get rid of all of them that have been
there more than 6 years. Both parties are to blame, but most of the blame goes
to the biggest ideologues, which happen to be obama and reid.
Wait until Tuesday, the tea party will never recover.
Senator Mike Lee didn't do himself any favors by ducking the interview with
KSL news. The GOP in the House hasn't sold the American people that what
they are trying to do makes sense. The Democrats are happy to see the shutdown
continue because the polls blame the GOP. It sounds like its time to clean House
and start over.
Wow!How many times has Hillary Clinton spoken untruths? And some people want want her for president?Go figure.
The voters who swing elections are the ones who never follow politics at all
until the fall of an election year and make up their minds on voting about 2
weeks out from the election. Nothing happpening now will have any effect on
either side. The sad irony is that elections are largely determined by the low
information voter, most of whom do not read or watch much news.
It's interesting how much effort the press (national and local) is putting
into steering public opinion. We knew the attention would be diverted from the
Senate and the President and focused (and blame passed) onto the Republicans in
the House. We knew that before it happened. But a little reminder
here. The job approval level for the President himself, the supreme great and
mighty Obama, is sitting right at the lowest level George Bush experienced
during his entire eight years in office.Any wonder that the media,
which shows solidarity to the Supreme and Mighty One, refuses to acknowledge
this? And our local media, especially Doug Wright @KSL, has been
ranting and raving about the need for Republicans to compromise. No need on the
part of the President (who stated Tuesday that he refuses to) or Senate
Democrats (Harry Reid refuses to meet with Republicans on these critical issues)
Hang on. Isn't this the poll in which 27% of the respondents were
government workers (as opposed to 8% in the general population), and in which a
majority of respondents were supporters of the Democrat party?I
think we need to know more about these polls. How were the respondents chosen?
Did everyone chosen by the poll takers, once selected, participate or did some
decline? How many were government workers? Were more respondents partisans of
one major party than the other? What was the exact wording of the poll
questions? These poll results invite these kind of questions. All
polls do. Earlier polls did not show that such a large majority saw Repbulicans
as most blameworthy. Rasmussen polls, when published, state the kind of
parameters and methodology suggested above. Polls often differ markedly in
their results. Many now do not automatically conclude that every poll is
People are disgusted with Washington and Congress, but they ought to look in the
mirror. They all voted for these people! They also voted for Obama who vowed
to "fundamentally change America." Remember that? Is this the
Fundamental Change he was talking about? Mobster tactics? Rewarding Friends
and Punishing Enemies? Like a Banana Republic? Putting more and more people on
the dole. He's done more to bankrupt and Divide america than anything
else. And yet, the current mess and shutdown is all the Republicans
fault? Seriously? Are you kidding me?? Harry Reid, Obama For America,
Move-On, George Sorros, Media Matters, all planned this narrative out months
ago. Why else would Harry Reid refuse to take up any of the appropriations
bills that passed the House with significant Democrat support? To do so would
have ruined his little charade!
By the end of the month, Vett's will be broke [No money] SSI will be broke
[No money] Food stamp card wont work [No money]. I think it' time to get
into the spirit of things and give the gifts that ya have to keep. Ya-know your
smile, your heart, and your word. Why isn't That in the news.
Anon0101Exactly what has Lee done to earn your wrath? Shut down the
government? Perhaps you should read up and think this through. Lee
is in no way responsible for the government shutdown. He is a senator who
doesn't get to vote on funding because Harry Reid won't bring any of
the funding bills to the floor. This impasse is House vs Senate
leadership(Harry Reid)/President Obama. The Senate, in which Lee is trapped
impotently, is on the democrat side. His whole role has been moral support.
Harry Reid holds the senate votes hostage.BTW, Utah's token
democrat in congress (Matheson) voted to defund Obamacare. Are you mad at him?
This is the que for Tea Partiers to insult the rest of the population as being
lazy, unpatriotic fools, unworthy of true liberty, with America's imminent
demise right around the corner.Come on, true freedom lovers,
don't give up now!And somebody please make sure Mike Lee's
microphone has plenty of batteries.
Let's pretend that for whatever reason -- The leemings in Utah
re-elect Mike Lee.He is a political pariah in Washington D.C.He will NEVER head a committee, He will NEVER even be asked to BE
on a committee, He will NEVER be asked for input on anything, He
will NEVER be the little red-step-child that nobody wants and will always
be the last one picked.A Zero, a cypher. Minimized to merely a
FoxNews talking face woo the Tea-Party.Is THAT the sort of
Representation Utah [all 0.9% of America] wants?
Take the poll again after the all or nothing tea party fails.
The Tea Party is hazardous to Americas economic/political health and destructive
to the GOP. Their idea of an elitist America for a wealthy few is contrary to
the democratic strength of America and the nation's freedom.
Republicans should learn something from this Tea-Party drinking binge...The 1st step to recovery is admitting YOU have a problem.12
Steps◾Step 1: We admitted we were powerless – that we have
become unmanageable.◾Step 2: Come to believe that a Power greater
than ourselves could restore us to sanity.◾Step 3: Make a decision
to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood God.◾Step 4: Make a deep soul searching and fearless moral inventory of
OURSELVES [not others].◾Step 5: Admitted to God, to ourselves and to
others the exact nature of our wrongs. They can have the 8 years
under President Hillary to get over the hangover and sober up.
