The radical no social security, no medicare, no Federal government crowd in Utah
and Texas live for this shutdown.
When the federal government starts acting like it is our government instead of
o'bama's government, then we don't want it shut down
Funding Obama's government without any limits is a good thing for your
Why won't Democrats simply agree to delay Obamacare for one year, increase
the debt limit, and not force a government shut down. You'd think Obama
would embrace a 12 month delay in the ACA as it isn't ready anyway. I
think Republicans are absolutely right on this.
Why should the democrats always win? There are legitimate reasons ObamaCare
should be gutted. The 30-hour requirement is going to cause a lot of part timers
to lose 10 hours a week (thats a lot of money). The medical devices tax will
drive up the cost of many procedures and possibly make them out of reach to the
lower and middle classes. The $2000 fine clause coupled with the insurance cost
increases will drive a lot of companies to dump health care and just pay the
fine. $2000 a year is a LOT cheaper than helping pay for healthcare. There are a
litany of reasons this bill was pathetic, and for Obama to basically stomp his
food and not budge at all is just as childish. Yet it is ok for the democrats
not to budge, but if the GOP doesn't budge, it's all their fault and
"why don't they just stop"??? So many double standards.
Democrats "have won", at the time of the legislation and with the last
election which was a national referendum created by Romney. Then throw in the
Supreme Court. If this is just poor losers seeking redemption and anarchy, it is
very sad for our country. As to the future, every minority try to shut down
government on any level using this precedence. There will be no need to vote,
just wait and obstruct by back door means.
Nobody wants obamacare, the shut down would send a great message that defunding
or repealing obamacare would be the proper approach to get back on track.
Don't buy something you can't affort and lets be honest...Obamacare
isn't about health service...it is the great ruse of the 21 century.

LDS Liberal"Getting the most votes is the proper way of running

"most votes" for two elections in the "peoples house". The
House of Representatives is known to most closely reflect the grass roots of
America. Plus, public opinion polls consistantly show Obamacare is not well
liked. So this conflict between the three elected parts of government is just
what our system is supposed to be about. Everything is working as it should.
Compromise has to come from both sides. Especially on an issue like Obamacare
that fundamentally changes a large part of the country for ever. Remember,
Obamacare was a partisan piece of legislation when it passed without any

such as coverage of dependents under their parents plans up to age 26. To delay
the individual mandate provision for a year as part of a budget deal would be
using the budget process to undermine laws without legislative revisions being
made. That's a precedent that opens the door for future use that might

I just wish someone would recommend that the Obamacare law be broken up into
several seperate parts, each of which would be voted on. I know that the part
about pre-existing conditions would be very popular. Other parts obviously need
to be revised in a bi-partisan way. Many who are now criticizing this current
block being run should at least acknowledge that the bill was too large and
complex to be voted on in one all or nothing vote. This legislation is a
monumental change to America on the order of Medicare and Social Security. And
as public opinion polls currently show, the people blocking the bill are
following the majority of public opinion against the bill.

US bracing for government shutdown no one wants======= Somebody isn't being truthful, because apparently Utah Senator Mike
Lee wants it!--Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) declared on Monday [July
22, 2013] that he and other congressional Republicans would be willing to shut
down the federal government in order to block further implementation of
President Barack Obama's health care reform law.Lee similarly
suggested in a Friday interview on WBAL 1090 AM that he and other Republicans
would be willing to shut down the government.
Mike Lee and Ted Cruz want the shut down. I say we start with their salaries!
I believe congress should be the first cuts made anytime deals like this come
up. Politicians say they are serving their Country. If it's
true 'service' it should come without pay! As the system is, we elect
professional politicians, rather than citizens who 'serve'.RE: leonard: You're funny!
The Radical Republicans are back. They are responsible for any 'shut
down'. Don't blame the Democrats for this one. The Democrats,
including President Obama, were legally elected to office. They are the
majority. The majority rules in a democracy. Yes, they should repsect the
rights of the minority, but respecting the minority does not mean "giving
in" to the minority. If the Radical Republicans had a better
idea, we'd have already seen it... fact of the matter is they have no
idea's. They run on an anti-democratic platform. "Anti" will get
you elected, but that's about it. I wish Senator Lee understood this.
I'm still waiting for his ideas. And waiting... and waiting.....
"The House of Representatives is known to most closely reflect the grass
roots of America. "make the "WAS" known. Now, the
districts have been so gerrymandered that it only represents the party.
"I just wish someone would recommend that the Obamacare law be broken up

part about pre-existing conditions would be very popular."Some
of what you want is not possible. Cant cover without pre-existing conditions
without a mandate to buy insurance. Otherwise, only the sick will buy insurance
and the whole thing will collapse. If we could get a congress that
would work in earnest to Improve what is wrong in the bill, we would all be
better off. Unfortunately, half of congress only sees black and white.
@JoeBlow - I'm not sure there are that many healthy people for the mandate
to make a difference. If you believe the hype, all Americans are fat with high
blood pressure and type-2 diabetes. Even when our family was young,
we had our share of pregnancies, appendectomies, kidney stones and hernias, as
well as trips to the emergency room for childhood injuries. We got healthcare
as soon as it became available.
