That was simply a matter of time. Pat Haden inherited Kiffen, didn't
really like him or want him, and the 62 points that got laid on them last night
by Arizona St. was the perfect excuse for Haden to act.
wow, if he was on the hot seat for going 0-2 in conference where does that put
whitt? It now is very clear that Utah only has to beat BYU to stay
off the hot seat, forget the pac ten record, just beat BYU, huh Dr. Hill?
Yeah Max that works for me.
He didn't have a fighting chance with the restrictions from the prior
coaching staff laid on him.
Stay classy, Max.
@Max-was-rightWell if Whitt is on the hotseat, Bronco
Mendenhall's seat must be engulfing him in flames.
If ever there were a year when the Utes might have a chance of knocking off USC,
this is it. Unfortunately, the Utes play UCLA instead of USC this week. The
Trojans have another month to get their act together before the Utes visit the
I'm a USC alumnus. Kiffin was doomed to fail at USC, where the opinions of
high-powered alumni pull a lot of weight. They overwhelmingly didn't want
him because he had no good track record. USC coach is one of the highest
pressure positions in all of athletics, and I don't envy anyone in that
Poor utes the Trojans just got better and hopefully will have the act together
by game time.
Too bad Kiffin couldn't have stayed on until October 26.Max,
actually beating BYU 4 years in a row by a combined 57 points probably
shouldn't guarantee any Utah coach their job given the direction the
Y's program is headed. I'm not sure the pollsters even consider
beating BYU a quality win anymore. But hey, keep lobbing those insults.... it
just makes you and your team look even more ridiculous.
HA! U90, we won't cloud the issue with the fact that 44 of those 57 point
were in a single game, meaning this rivalry has otherwise been extremely
competitive over the past 5 years. Oh, but apologies -- don't want to
knock the shine off of your delusions of dominance....
As a neutral observer, Hawk, I would think 4 and 0 is dominating regardless of
the score. If we could make excuses about margin of score, as a USU fan I could
say we should have beaten Wisconsin, the Utes earlier this year (onside kick the
difference) but it doesn't work that way. BYU is down 4 games in the last
4 and whether the total difference was 4 or 400, doesn't alter the fact
that the U has owned the Y recently.
Hawk,You're right, 9 of 12 is not very dominant. The 51-21,
48-24 and 54-10 games were pretty close really. Sorry about all the delusion on
Kiffin had a meteoric rise without really proving himself as a good coach. I
only find it ironic that his 70+ year old dad could see the writing on the wall
and left for the Cowboys. This situation is another example that
coaching is even more important than star quality athletes. USC has plenty of
"stars" but without a good coach, they struggled.
U 90Max-was-right, beating BYU is the only thing they care about on
the hill. As long as Kyle continues to do that, it doesn't matter whether
Utah remains a conference bottom dweller or even qualifies for a bowl. Which of
course begs the question, why did Hill take a two year hiatus, knowing that
he'd be putting his coach at risk of not being able to salvage his
mediocre, bowl-less seasons with a win over BYU?
@ the hawk,How funny is it when cougar fans talk about Ute fans
being delusional over the fact Utah has won 75% of its games against the team
down south in the past decade, concluding with a stretch of 4 straight, and then
end their posts with something like..."don't want to knock the shine
off of your delusions of dominance".Just keep thinking the
difference in the score is all that matters, not the result of the game, and
hold strong to the belief anything less than a 54-10 blowout is a moral victory.
LOL! Wishful thinking on the part of some near-sighted Blue Blogsters that
Coach Whitt's situation is at risk.....As always, no team is
guaranteed Top 25 status every year. Prior to Mora's arrival UCLA was in a
down cycle; now it's USC's turn. BYU had the Golden Years under
Lavell, and now has a variety of issues they are beginning to resolve. No one realistically believes Coach Whitt's tenure is in jeopardy.
Coaching stability is a significant strength at Utah, especially considering
their ability to work thru the type of injury-related adversity seen last
season, as well as the advent of Coach Erickson.Clearly Utah's
facilities, recruiting, and coaching are moving in a positive direction.
Wannabee Red Haters characterizing those recent successes as posing a threat to
Utah's coaching staff is simply a source of amusement to all of us on The
Just wait, BYU "fans" will start saying they want Bronco fired and
Kiffin hired. Mark it down.
He was not a good coach, he only beat USU by 3 points at home. Just look at how
different their recuiting rank.USC in 2010 was ranked 1st, 2011 4th, 2012
8th, 2013 13th.USU in 2010 was rnaked 108th, 2011 77th, 2012 116th, 2013
104thWith the players that USC receives they should be a lot better.
And whatching that game it looked more like USU lost to a team they could of won
I do not understand what BYU-Utah scores has to do with USC.I see
Utah fans being baited. The fact is Coach Whit has done a great job
building the program.I would be more worried that Whit would be
invited to come and take over a program like USC.If his days are
numbered at Utah, it would be to go to a better situation to see what he could
do with a solid recruiting class. Whit's potential is being limited staying
at the U. We are lucky that he is happy and not as ambitious as an Urban Meyer

Kiffin did not do a great job, but it is true that he was handed a team with a
lot of sanctions because of the Reggie Bush mess. I think their season is
pretty much over. If when they play the Utes, the Utes are only one loss,
I'm actually going to be rooting for them to win. Right now there are 5
teams in the Pac 12 listed in the top 25. I'd like to see Utah move up
there by going undefeated the rest of the way. Difficult I know, but should
they do it, that would be huge. P.S. I know Texas is not in the
hunt this year, but I still think it was amazing to watch what BYU they did to
that team, with it's reputation as a yearly contender. I'm still mad
about Texas beating USC in the National Championship game a few years ago, and
loved watching Texas get wiped out. Thank you BYU for that one.
Max-was-right is totally right. If there's one thing us high class people
do, it's point out how unclassy other people are. Because that is how class
is defined. Also byu would totally donimate the PAC and are games prove
