Apparently Senator Lee is applying a lesson learned from his personal life,
after all everything turned out OK when he did not pay the bills that he owed on
"'This is it. Time is gone,' Reid said."The date
has been on the calendar for months. It was Reid's decision to
procrastinate. If I had an employee like this, I'd fire him.
As a lifelong Republican I can tell all you liberals out there to not worry, the
Republican leadership will cave just as they always do to your demands, you will
be able to continue your destruction of the United States.
The Tea Party will not cave, negotiate, or listen to any reason. The Tea Party
is stuck on stupid. Watch. The Tea Party may carry the vote on the CR / Delay
ACA today, Saturday. If so the Senate will again strip this bill down to a
clean CR, pass it again, and send it back to the House, but that'll be
Monday or Tuesday and the gov't will partially shut down. The Tea
Party is getting their wish, to shut down our gov't. Watch it happen.
Only after the Tea Party finishes attaching all their anti amendments to a CR,
and after they all fail to pass the Senate, only then they may cave to
reason. The Tea Party followers are a true embarrassment to a
democratic society. Any reasonable person recognizes that the debate to repeal
ACA will fail, to defund ACA will fail, but to change ACA can happen - but only
in a debate with reasonable participants. Tea Party is proving they're not
capable of reasonable debate.
JNA, I am not a liberal but I still have demands of the my representatives be
they Rep or Dem: Pay the bills.
@Crusader "Pay the bills."If you don't like unpaid debt
now, wait'll you see it under Obamacare.
Today (9/28/13) Senator Lee flew to St. Louis for the Conservative Political
Action Conference (CPAC) to give a speech and sign books, taking advantage of
his waxing popularity among the conservative grassroots. What makes
Lee’s decision to leave DC even more eye-raising is the fact that many of
his Republican colleagues in both the House and Senate cancelled their prior
engagements because of ongoing budget negotiations.Every member of
Congress scheduled to appear at the American Conservative Union’s (ACU)
event, including Sens. Tom Coburn (R-OK) and Roy Blunt (R-MO), cancelled —
save Lee. Laura Regis, the ACU’s National Communications Director,
confirmed they cancelled to work on the government shutdown crisis.
Crusader? Tell me did Obama pay his bills on his tony Rezko (convict)
house.....or did Rezko go to jail for both of them .
The tea party is irresponsible.
This is another Democrat "Our way or the Highway" thing. If they want
to pay the bills, then start talking about how best to do it. Obamacare is
broken and isn't ready EVEN if it is keep alive. There ARE other
people in this country who deserve to be represented besides the far left. This is about "Don't kill off the middle Class this
year"The party of "No?" that would be the "Party of
Never" ie Democrat. The Republican Party is the Party of Roll
over and do whatever the Left tells them, but make a fuss along the way, just
like Matheson and Hatch who will vote Moderate or conservative like most in Utah
feel, as long as the vote is going to go the other way already.
2016 lookin real good! Another 8 yrs. for the Dems. thanks to the three ring
masters of the republican circus!
@T. PartyReid procrastinated? He passed a budget several months ago that
the house refused to bring to conference. He couldn't work on the
continuing resolution until Republicans passed it a few days ago and Reid
brought it out only to run into Cruz's obstruction.
@atl134 "Reid procrastinated?"Yes. He's known for
months that the bill his Senate passed is a non-starter. Where is his compromise
bill? He could have produced one months ago.I'll say it again:
if the government shuts down, it's because Obama and Reid would rather shut
it down than compromise on Obamacare.Obama's position is "I
will not negotiate."
Obama will negotiate with Islamic radicals, but will not negotiate with
congressional Republicans.Harry Reid's senate has a bill to
fund every bit of the federal government, except Obamacare, and they refuse to
pass that. THEY are shutting down the government just as much as the
Republicans. The law requires Congress to pass the budget for 2014
and about 16 separate appropriations bills for FY 2014 by September 30, but for
nearly a decade they have diddled around and failed to do so, and defaulted to
omnibus "continuing resolutions" instead of making any tough choices on
spending. Thus we end up with nearly 17 Trillion in debt, hundreds of
worthless, wasteful and inefficient programs which are never killed, and exist
only to buy votes.Shut 'er down.If we cannot cut
spending and bad laws now, will anyone have the guts to do it when the debt
ceiling comes up? When whatever continuing resolution is passed now expires?
If not now, when? If not here, where?
@DN subscriber 2. Providing a bill to fund every bit of government except
obamacare is not compromise it is extortion.Maybe if the republicans
could come up with something better they could get the American public behind
Worf's cure for the economy:* do not create new bills*
give a two year notice for preparation,--eighty percent of benefits to be
cut.* ease up on regulations to create, and grow businesses.* three
year term for a president, and two for all else. Government service should not
be a career.* only citizens with a HS degree or higher may vote for
government leaders.* those on welfare may not vote, due to a conflict of
interest.* background check on all new leaders, and make sure they have a
birth certificate. This will not happen, would make for a stronger
DN Subscriber 2 said: "Obama will negotiate with Islamic radicals, but will
not negotiate with congressional Republicans."One is more
reasonable, and don't you mean "republican radicals."
