just say no to everything. people in this country should go back to no labor
laws. no child labor laws. no over time. and the poor bring cash to the doctor
or die like it was 120 years ago. thats what the republican party wants then the
jobs will come back because we will make less than the rest of the world.
the photo pretty much says it all Thanks for a good laugh DN.
What Obama needs to learn is that if the world really is looking to the USA for
a stable world economy, our constant record setting annual federal deficits will
soon destabilize not only the US economy, but in turn the world economy.
Kicking that problem down the road will only make it worse. It's currently
$17,000,000,000,000... a number hard to wrap your mind around. @
Iket:Most (almost three-quarters) of the jobs Obama has been adding
are only part time jobs, while middle America's average family income has
dropped over $4,000 annually since Obama took over. Not good at all.Latest
polls have shown that the majority of Americans are now opposed to Obamacare and
that group is growing weekly. As such, Republicans are just trying to give
Americans what polls show they want. Your comment is so biased that it
makes no sense at all. @ spring street:This is a
national AP article... not a Deseret News article.
"...middle America's average family income has dropped over $4,000
annually since Obama took over...".And where did that money
go?Back into the hands of businesses who support the republican
party...Businesses make bottom line decisions...or they cease to
exist...If you can have a better P/L statement by cutting payroll
costs and then blame the cuts to employees, on the POTUS...and get away with
well thanks then to the AP, still a good laugh.
What Now--that money has been due to decreased sales, production, and government
taxes. The economy has slowed. Americans should stop listening to
the liberal media. It would be wise to delay Obamacare for another year to let
the exchanges get set up properly. It would also be wise to carry
out another debate throughout our country now that we are beginning to see what
is actually in the ACA (Nancy Pelosi said it had to be passed first before we
could know what was in it). We should discuss what parts of Obamacare we should
drop, and what parts to keep.
With a strong majority of Americans hating Obamacare......the GOP will win the
war come 2013 as the Libs fail to compromise or reach out to the
center.......Obama had said he will not compromise? The only time we have ever
seen Obama compromise was his ethics, like rexco, fast and furious,
"...if it can't get 100 percent of what it wants,""pass a budget without drama."These are quotes by our
president.Well Mr. President, the House passed 99% of the funding
for the government. Sounds like you and the democrats are the ones
who won't sign on unless you get 100% of what you want, and you are the
ones creating the drama by threatening a government shutdown.
Obamacare was passed using the Constitutionally prescribed legislative
procedures. Now the House of Representatives is trying to dictate
their majority's will to the Senate and Executive Branch. This is NOT the
Constitutionally prescribed procedure, regardless of which party is the
majority. Our national politics are currently highly charged,
confrontational and lacking the statesperson compromising attitude necessary to
effectively run our Constitutional government. But, we can't
accept the attitude that everyone in the other party is trying to ruin the
country. We have to work together, compromise and quit denigrating others.
@ patriot vet:You stated it well... "We have to work together,
COMPROMISE, and quit denigrating others. So how is Obama doing in
that regard? He's attacking conservatives from a mid-American tour.
He's mostly been out of Washington lately and not talking to the other
side face to face. He flatly stated that he unequivocally "would not
compromise."Meanwhile, conservatives have offered a well-intended
compromise to just delay obamacare 1 year, instead of completely defunding it.
Obama has offered no compromise whatsoever in return. For anyone
carefully following what's been going on, it's not difficult to see
where the main problem lies. Both sides feel they are correct in their thinking.
One side has offered a compromise. However, the other side has offered nothing
in return. BTW: The House of Representatives has not done anything
against constitutional procedure that I know of. If you feel they have, please
Candidate Romeny if elected was going to get rid of the ACA. The referendum on
the tea party policies he adopted was defeated by a majority. Time to respect
our laws and stop trying to act subversively. The economy is improving
eventhough the tea party wants it to fail.
@ one vote:Recent polls show that as more and more becomes known
about Obamacare, the more Americans dislike it. In fact, a solid majority no
longer want it to be implemented. Shouldn't the voice of the people count
and be heard in Washington? This past election was about much more than
just Obamacare. It's silly to conjugate the entire election around one
issue. Doesn't sell. The biggest farce of all is believing the
economy is improving. - Average household income has gone down over
$4,000 since Obama took office. - Good paying manufacturing jobs have been
lost by the millions and are being replaced by low-paying part-time service
sector jobs. - The federal deficit has grown 70% in just 5 years to
unsustainable record levels... and continues growing each year at an average
higher than any previous president's highest deficit year. - 46
million Americans are now on food stamps... up 65% since 2008. 1 in 7 Americans
now receive them. Given all these facts about the current economy,
how can you possibly believe the economy is improving? It's quite the
contrary, and getting worse... and especially will once Obamacare becomes fully
KSL had an excellent special broadcast about ACA and Utah on the air last night.
It pointed out that even though ACA is just getting off the ground, we are
already seeing decreased costs and increased benefits. The GOP House
is terrified that if they allow ACA to proceed, it will actually work -- and
work well.Boy, wouldn't that be embarrassing after all their
"A partial government shutdown would keep hundreds of thousands of federal
workers off the job, close national parks..."I don't get
it... Obama can thumb his nose at immigration laws by giving amnesty to millions
of illegals but, for some strange reason, can't keep the government running
without a budget? It looks like the entire government is a complete house of
charades. And, if the government does shut down, it is not the fault
of the Republican controlled House. The US House is responsible, per the US
Constitution, to determine the financial needs of the US Government and pass
laws to fund it. The House has passed a law to fund the entire government
except Obamacare. The House likely decided the nation's debt and deficit
must be addressed. Government expenditures have to be cut somewhere. Obamacare
is a good place to start. If the Senate and the White House refuses to go along
with the House passed budget, it is the Senate and Obama who are shutting the
government down, not Repubs.
@patriot vet:"Obamacare was passed using the Constitutionally
prescribed legislative procedures."Likewise, immigration laws
were passed using the Constitutionally prescribed legislative procedures...
which Obama has completely ignored for his and his party's sinister
benefit. How else can a political party secure and additional 50 million or so
Democrat voters for future elections? So, what's your point?"Now the House of Representatives is trying to dictate their
majority's will to the Senate and Executive Branch. This is NOT the
Constitutionally prescribed procedure, regardless of which party is the
majority."Per the US Constitution, the House is responsible for
determining the Government's financial needs, and create and pass budgets
for same. If the Senate and the White House disagree, it would be them that are
responsible for any resulting adverse even such as shutting down the
government.Let's see which political party has the majority of
elected politicians... in Congress (House & Senate) there are 280
Republicans and 250 Democrats. Add that guy in the White House and the Dems
have 251. Do the math... it shows the Republicans outnumber the Democrats by
Ah, Obamahate is alive and well today.
Obama being Obama. This is a perfect example. He tells us how important the
US economy is to the stability of the world...then does nothing to preserve the
full faith and credit of the United States. He's aloof. Despite
the fiscal cliff and his hand-wringing over sequester cuts, he's NOT acting
like a wise steward over the budget. Keep in mind that the fiscal cliff goes
back THREE YEARS now. What the world is looking to us for is a reduction in
the federal budget. The world wants to see less spending and less borrowing. We
need a much smaller government. But Obama keeps spending and complains
about any effort to slice away a mere $50 billion. So, if the world sees us
as shaky Mr. President, look in the mirror for the cause. He's right
that a meltdown would be bad...but he needs to do some serious sacrificing and
cutting to make changes.
