Here's another way to look at gambling. And most of the time I follow my
own advice.Take $20-100 tops.Consider it lost money.
Play cards or dice. Slots are mind numbing. I like poker because
you meet some real interesting people. You never meet interesting people
playing slots. If you can play for a couple of hours consider it
like entertainment or going to a movie. If you come out ahead, consider it a
good night. How many times do you go out for dinner or go to a movie and maybe
win or get your money back? Like never.Set a time limit or when you
lose your money, you're done. That means when time is up, if you're
ahead just leave. Again simple rules. Don't think you're
going to win a million bucks. Do it for 2-3 hours or until your set money is
done and get out. Don't expect to win. Play the games where you can meet
some people. Slots are stupid.
It's hypocritical to suggest you consider statecraft to be
'soulcraft' and come out against single payer health care. The very
word soulcraft is kind of creepy and does not sound like the business of state.
Howard has some good advice. I like the blackjack machines at the bar; the
service is always attentive and if I lose my money I still usually come out
ahead in free beer.
