Why is BYU in all white? They always play poorly in white it seems. Now with
Hoffman out, that could be even more pronounced......Let's hope not. If I had been Bronco, I would have placed Cody out there just as a decoy
and not told Virginia he was even hurt. Oh Well. Let's Go
Maybe I don't understand fast and hard?
I suspect our friend here don't even know where Virginia is, and she is
cheering for them.
Fast and hard, as your team lead tell you how to flip the burger when there is a
long drive through line!
3 and out fast, 3 and out hard? Hill is athletic, but doesn't look like the
QB we've been told he is, and DEFINITELY not "tied" with Charles E.
Keeton, as one prognosticated.
Byu makes Virginia look like a very good opponent
This byu O looks dangerous, almost as dangerous as their D looks. Makes all of
the blow-out predictions made by the byu fanbase look weak, by comparison. I
see absolutely no reason byu doesn't win this game by at least 100 points,
assuming King KVN doesn't continue missing tackles. LOLUVA
continues to stop themselves. Next week is going to be an absolute bloodbath in
At least the lightning will give these poor fans something interesting to watch
Wow, a lot of Utes out there with nothing to do today. For some people who have
no interest in BYU and have left them for the mighty PAC whatever, they sure
follow us closely! It seems that after one win, they have there hopes up that
they are going to play in the Rose bowl for the NC, when we all know that will
Can someone with spirit and honor tell me what go fast and hard means?
"How is getting struck by lightning any different then getting struck by
Kyle Van Noy."Lightning won't whiff when it comes at you.
Where are all of the byu "fans" that we're shooting off during the
Utah game?...Still hiding? lol.
@Chris BI don't have a lot of spirit or honor but "go fast go
hard" means go without a huddle, hurry up the play, catch the defense off
guard, score quick, and then have the touchdown called back because you make a
lot of penalties when you "go fast go hard."
Ekute, unlike ewe, they have a life.
@Chris B:You will see what go fast and go hard means when your Utes
fall tired in the 4th quarter and BYU goes up by 3 touchdowns. Patience young
one...your eyes will be opened.
If the first quarter offense is any example, we are all in for a long hard
season.Go hard is a joke so far.
I will not try to explain "go fast and go hard". The concept is way
above the pay grade of anyone who would ask the question. It becomes very
confusing and tends to scramble one's brain. Better to just leave it
alone.I would rather talk about the lopsided win by utah over their
mid-major opponent. You know, the one they almost lost to. Somehow, they got
lucky on the trick play that happened to work out in their favor. Every now and
again even a blind hog finds an acorn - as the saying goes.
jeez... I don't know what is more boring, BYU's offense or staring at
an empty stadium.
I've got hogs but have never fed them acorns? I've fed them Twinkies
to fatten them up prior to our fair! Squirrels eat acorns!Wish the
game would come back.....I'm at the NHRA Championship and its also a rain
delay...Game sounds sloppy...go Cav's
I believe it'called "go hard, punt fast'
Good to see the BYU anti-fan contingent has packed the message board. So what does the average BYU fan do during a rain delay?I spent
quality time with my wife and baby. Changed and fed the baby after playing with
her allowing my wife a much deserved nap. I made dinner then cleaned the kitchen
and tidied up the living room. The radio sounded like the game was about to
come back on so I checked in to see who was on the message boards. So
you have a idea about a what a typical BYU fan does during a rain delay.BYU is missing Hoffman today.
5 possessions Zero points.Lol!I told you you
need athletes that go fast and hard to have an offense that goes fast and hard.
An you don't!
I told my wife to make me some popcorn, get me another pepsi, check that the
dogs have food and water and take the kids over to her sister's till the
game is over. lol.
Ugly, ugly game. I called BYU to win on the ESPN Pick 'Em game, and
I'm still going with them, but this cannot be encouraging to the fans. O
Line still seems a major concern, but even when he has time, Hill's passes
are all over the field (and not in a good way!), mostly in the dirt, the
defensive front 7 has been gashed several times more than I would've
expected, and I haven't seen UVa attempt a downfield pass, but I know
Cougar fans are already dreading that moment.
7 points in half. Is this the go fast go hard?Utah is so
BYU's Defense is looking stout.
We are in trouble if the offensive line can't open any holes. Not
impressed with the offense at all. Hopefully they will come around . . .
What a kick. Yergensen-esque!
I have dish direct. What channel is the game on? My ESPNU just switched to the
Washington State game.
Game is live on ESPN3
Some advice for Coach Anae:Keep running it up the gut. It works
every time. After the game the O Line should be required to run the
stadium stairs 25 times before being allowed to shower.
Isn't Steven S Jarvis just the perfect example for all of us?!Gag!It looks like it might be a long season.
Blocked punt!Go UVA !
UVA winning!Byu loses!Aggies lose!Utah wins!
And your "quest" is over!Lol!
byu's fears are coming to fruition...O-line, secondary and special teams.
Chris B...What is the over/under on a) bad refs post or b) fire
Bronco during game #1 post? Against #86 Virginia?I say we get both
The momentum of the game seems to be in Virginas favor.
the game is blacked out after a long delay. ESPNU promised to broadcast in
Ut.and Va. but not so in St. George. Looks like BYU is under powered anyway with
Was watching the game on Directv in Florida. It has been bumped by the Auburn
game and Nascar. It's no longer on any channel. So much for national
What's with this 2 yard run play offense? Only one shot downfield so far.
Plus the announcers are being Virginia/ ACC homers...But the playcalling
is driving me crazy...
If only Virginia had a quarterback. This game would be out of reach by now
Safety!UVA!UVA!Byu loses!Byu loses!
Elcapitan, but BYU is ESPN's darling!
"Looks like BYU is under powered anyway with poor defense."What game are you watching? The defense has been decent. Other than a drive
right before the half, when they were probably playing the dreaded
"prevent" defense, UVA hasn't done much. For the TD, UVA had to go
just 16 yards because the punt team failed to execute. So how exactly has
BYU's defense been "poor"?
Ok, am I watching the BYU offensive passing machine or amI watching Oklahoma
sooner triple option? C,mon we went thru this over 30 yrs ago, got real success
with a passing scheme that created a factory for QB legends, (after all BYU
invented the west coast offense), and now we are trying to reinvent the wheel.
We are not and never will be a ground and pound type offense tp play with the
big boys. Lets learn from a rich history that Lavell left, or go backwards.
Our defense is phenomenal but I can see an offensive design flaw not made with
the cloth of it's previous success.
There's still a lot of time left haters.
UVa's best offense is BYU's offense.
Is this last year all over again...Good defense.Unknown
offense.I miss the old days when the ball flew every play and things
on offense happened. Oh and thanks to all the Utes who are spending
their afternoon watch our game. I on the other hand spent my Thursday night
washing socks as opposed to even looking for the USU game.
And it's another cougar.....PUNT
Weekend recap:Byu loses!Usu loses!Utah wins!
By now I'll bet you're washing your socks again. lol.
"Plus the announcers are being Virginia/ ACC homers..."Because you think they should be singing the praises of a team with 180 yards
of total offense through three and a half quarters, completing one third of
their passes?? Don't like what someone's saying about your team? Maybe
they should play better...
I will be glad when a real sport begins as in Professional Football. My
perfectionist personality doesn't allow me to follow College sports eventhough I saw this article.I'd rather watch Pop Warner and High
Win or lose...The Longhorns are licking they're chops.
It's about time the Cougars show a pulse, even if it was referee and
I remember now why Anae was sent packing before. Way too much hype by the BYU
coaches - again. Whose idea was it to call the pass play on 3rd down, when the
only plays that were working were running plays and the high risk play was the
pass on a wet field with tons of pressure by a QB who really had an awful day
passing? Oh yeah. That would be Anae. And btw, BYU was ahead by 4 at that
point. We could have used a Kyle Wittingham today - for sure.
Didn't get to see the game, it was bumped in Southern California in favor
of Washington State.
Well the wait is over. It was ugly and it's obvious some work needs to be
done but it's just one game.I will say this. Utes won the
week. And now let the Ute arrogance continue... to the victor go the
Looks like 2014 will be the N.C. year for BYU. Virginia must be tons better than
USU. Tough breaks. Fastest 3-and-out in the country.
No White-Horse prophecy in Nov 2012, and now this. The National Championship
will have to wait a year. That fastest 3-and-out offense in the country was
No Sammy. There is no need for arrogance. I am sure the Cougars will go faster
and harder next week. Keep your chin up friend.
Tough way to open the season but a lot of games left to be played
Honor, Spirit, Tradition
Sammy,Props for manning up.According to Jody G., The
Utes won twice this week. lol.
@ekuteLonghorns have problems of their own on offense right now (see
NM State game). BYU will be much better playing at home in the altitude. I also
fully EXPECT Oregon State will fall to the Utes with their poor showing tonight.
BYU lost a tough one tonight. Wished we had Hoffman as he would
have caught some of those wet footballs. Weak play on the O-Line kept the
Cougars from having success with the run game. I was happy Sorenson
hit a FG tonight. The Defense was stellar. BYU has a long way to go to be
competitive on offense.
Wow! What a debacle! Very unimpressive offensive displays from both teams.
Maybe BYU should have declared "victory" and left during the rain delay,
because it must be Sunday by now in some parts of the world. At least all is
not lost, BYU still has Middle Tennessee State and Idaho on their schedule, they
might be able to beat both of them if they can get some breaks. I wonder how
Jake Heaps fared today? Would someone please help Brandon Doman? I'll bet
he's been ROFLOLing for hours now; I hope he can survive the game without
Ute Fans...Did we rush the field at Virginia? lol.I'm guessing
the cougars are glad we weren't there to make them fail 3 times in a row
That game was the worst thing I have ever seen. Ever. Sometimes I
HATE being a BYU fan.
BYU will be 1-4 when GA. Tech rolls into provo.
high risk play at the end of the game to throw a pass. poor playing calling. it
was painful to watch.
I'm a bit disappointed in the result today. I really expected the Cougars
to win handily today. I do have a good feeling about next week though. Could
just be gas....?
Utah wins on good coaching (surprise onside kick) and BYU loses on bad coaching
(throwing on 3rd down with the lead and a few minutes remaining). There goes the
BCS bowl everyone was talking about yesterday.
Too bad Anae didn't have a trick play up his sleeve huh Sammy?
The Y is a once again a mediocre team. With the exception of a couple of
defensive players, the Y is full of average to sub-average athletes and I
don't fault Bronco. Bronco is playing the hand he has been dealt and the
"new" BYU is a far cry from the high flying days of Lavell Edwards where
there were lots of non-lds kids playing who actually had All-American talent.
BYU is just fine as an independent because they would be on the bottom of the
heap with Colorado in the Pac12 and Kansas in the Big 12. Nice kids - just sub
@Steven S Jarvis"...Longhorns have problems of their own on
offense right now (see NM State game)...".Texas 42 NMST 7 (9:11

I have one word to say regarding this game.ICK!Now, the
Cougars have their two toughest home games of the season coming up.Sure, I could explains things like, "Two hour delay" "The rain was
bad" "It's the first game" "No Cody Hoffman" but in
reality, 2013 so far looks just like 2012. Defense was good, offense
made one too many mistakes.I thought the Cougars would win eight
games this season. As things stand now, seven wins would be a stretch.
ESPN did us wrong in Utah, did not do as they announced, We turned off tv for
K BYU better replay games from the glory years, maybe have Jim McMann do the
play analysis...did Bronco rehire Anae, or was it Holmoe...results no diff than
with Doman...I'll say it again, it's the O-Line that's killing
us. Have D line play both ways.
DRay,I watched the entire game on cable. Tried satellite, went back
Ekute:I wish I was doing anything including washing your socks.
BYU Joe, Sammy etc.,You guys were good sports today. It was just 1
game. 11 or 12 to go. Cheers.
Fire Bronco! Horrible coaching! Who would throw a pass in a situation like
that, especially when UVA had not been moving the ball the entire game? To add
to examples of poor coaching, during BYU's previous possession with less
than six minutes remaining and a one point lead, BYU made no effort to run down
the clock. The ball was snapped on each down with more than 20 seconds
remaining on the play clock. Was ANYONE coaching?Go Utes!
