Ummm, you test the heck out of something that will be carrying hundreds of lives
per trip. This sounds good to me.
This causes one to wonder what is so different with this new TRAX line compared
to the other three that have more recently been opened. All the others went
through the testing cycle but none for a long period of time like the
Sandy-Draper line.Of course, one must also recognize that UTA does
some crazy things and there seems to be a genuine lack of oversight.
Many people have the mindset that they'll accept anything that those
"large and in-charge" come up with, no matter how obviously absurd it
happens to be. I just wish those people were the only ones paying for all this
wonderful stuff cooked up by the brilliant minds who always know what's
best for the rest of us and our resources.
The gates came down as I was heading to work yesterday morning where Trax
intersects 12300 South. I was running a little late so I was mildly annoyed. But
I became more annoyed as the minutes passed and NO TRAIN appeared! Finally,
after waiting more than 5 minutes (more like 7 or 8), the gates lifted with NO
TRAIN IN SIGHT! What gives???
Everything that our government does is at the request, proposal and imposed
action of private enterprise business operations in their quest for profits.
Any benefits to people in general are just used to cover and excuse the action.
It would be a great service to the public if our media would
identify and publicize the prime movers of government actions and the manner in
which they obtained the government action.
Ultra Bob, You're right: Crony capitalism is not only alive and well in
America, but thriving like never before. And it's ALWAYS excused with the
claim that everything that's done is for the "greater good." There
are no hidden agendas like the ones used by politicians and their friends when
they feel compelled to pick our pockets and compromise our rights as they
feather their own nests and line their own pockets.

attention to the other lines. The Daybreak, West Valley, and Airport sections
were tested for 6 months prior to their openings, with trains going nearly daily
for about half of that time. It IS a federal requirement, tied to the grant
money and federal funding that UTA received to build the lines, so blame the
feds, not UTA, for running trains excessively during the testing timeframe.
It's it just so nice when the Federal government is generous enough to give
us back some of the money they stole from us . . . when we're duly nice and
obedient, that is? We should always be ever so grateful for their kind
JayTeeSorry JayTee but this is not something you can blame on the
democrats and Obama. Government, since the beginning, has as its
main purpose the accruing of other people’s wealth while protecting the
wealth of its own people.
My house is literally along the railroad tracks. When I say that, I mean my
back fence is next to the Trax soundwall in Sandy. The "round the
clock" testing just isn't that bad. I bought my house next the
railroad tracks knowing that there may be trains on those tracks. Those tracks
were there LONG before my house was built and LONG before I became a resident of
Sandy. I have had the trains behind my house traveling at over 50mph all
summer. They move by quickly and they aren't all that noisy. They
don't shake my house and they don't sound a horn as they approach the
major road near my home. I just haven't been that annoyed. I
will say that the coordination of the gate crossing arms has been less than
successful so far, but I believe they will have that all figured out soon. The
intersection at 10600 South and the train line seems to be exceptionally long
for the arms to be down. If you don't want trains by your
house, don't buy a house near the tracks.
