Sorry liberals, not what you were hoping for.
It never was the chemicals used for fracking, it was that fracking
dislodges of other impurities into the water that is the problem.
re:LDS Tree-HuggerAs a geologist I am neither for nor against fracking,
that would depend on the circumstance. I am, however, very interested in exactly
what “other impurities” are dislodged into the water. Are you
concerned about impurities dislodged within the aquifer or impurities dislodged
from the fracking horizon?
LDS Tree-Hugger, do you understand the slightest bit about what fracking is and
does? Any displacement of rock is taking place 8000-10000 feet below the
surface....nothing within miles of the water table is being dislodged. The only
disturbance to any materials in the water table is from the hole that is drilled
where a pipe is laid to transport water down to the depth where fracking will
occur. This is no different than what happens when a conventional well is
drilled, which is why there is no impact from fracking on aquifiers.I advise you turn off MSNBC and truly learn about the technology.
Enviromentalist now have something else to worry about. It's Crazy!
Exactly what this liberal was hoping for. Fracking good news.
Glad to see the study, no matter what the outcome. Better to act on evidence
than unsubstantiated claims. Even then, it admitted that contamination can
occur via surface spills and poorly-designed wells, and I'll wait for more
studies to substantiate or disagree with the results before I decide whether or
not fracking is safe.Clearly, contamination has taken place in some
areas where fracking occurred. If the contamination did not come as a result of
activities related to fracking, we need to determine the sources and causes of
@Beaver Native--So many times we've been lied to by the media, and
political leaders. We'll be fooled again, and fracking will be
regulated to the point where we'll stay dependent on foreign oil.All through history, societies have been deceived, and never been able to
sustain honest leaders with character.
There is a problem with honesty in academia. The study by Dr. Charles
"Chip" Groat was found to have been a false pro-drilling study which
falsely claimed there was no water contamination. Dr Groat is no longer at the
university..but he was rewarded with quite a large financial gain for what he
did and the study was quoted widely until disproved. The promises of the nuclear
industry(some of the same companies are involved in this also)resulted in
cancers and death.Energy and power can be very attractive to some.At what cost
is this being done? Here we have proven water contamination with acrylonitrile,
benzene and other carcinogens in the water far from the well following the
drilling. the water travels under ground. Surface disposals into creeks, rivers
and illegal dumping down old mines etc. has further endangered the innocent.
Road and bridge destruction results from the heavy rigs and trucks. Accidents
from the drivers falling asleep, the brakes not being maintained, drugs,
prostitution and crimes of assault, burglary and fraud are very serious problems
that accompany the workers.Water is life itself.the gas has been promised to
