Nice to see she has a life beyond Harry Potter, but I'll be passing on
this. The preview I read of the book was rather profane and vulgar. Still, I
wish her well.
I realize that Robert Galbraith and Richard Burwash are certainly not the same
sort of thing, but I do empathize with Rowling when she says: "It has been
wonderful to publish without hype or expectation, and pure pleasure to get
feedback from publishers and readers under a different name."
JK is a great author, and honestly I wish she'd write more Harry Potter...
but all that expectation is exactly why she'll never be able to reproduce
what wonders she once did. The fact that she can manage to obtain critical
acclaim writing a different genre shows us all that she's a fantastic
writer (which she is)... Good for her for trying to share her craft and downplay
the hype that comes from fame and public pressure. If she can shrug off all the
expectations, she may even succeed in creating something fresh and new in our
The Casual Vacancy was so boring, the characters so unlikable, and the language
used so coarse and profane that I have sworn never to pay money for anything
Rowling ever writes again. I will be skipping this new series.
