Cmon democrats you love your revenue stream. After all it's only a few
thousand more dollars. That's not going to hurt those graduates who work
their way to the top 1% of society.Maybe instead of these students,
why don't you lower the interest rates for home loans.Or
instead of giving money to banks and big business to "stimulate" the
economy; you could have paid off all mortgages for those of us that actually pay
taxes. In turn we could promise to spend 80% of what we would have used towards
the loan to buy US made products and hire US citizens. That would
have stimulated the economy more so than stuffing the pockets of your rich
Well, when the fubar Government is to do any thing, the thing that they do,
turns to fubar.
These students don't need lower rates, they need richer parents!
The government has no business (or Constitutional authority) being in the
student loan business. However, if it is somehow deemed essential to
the future of our country, then at least the program should be on a sound
economic basis, not just shoveling out borrowed money at a loss.Make
the interest rate linked to what it costs to provide the money. But, better yet, just kill the program and let students and their parents save
and earn money or borrow it on the open market based on their criteria.
The first mistake is depending upon Congress to "fix" anything. (When
you "fix" an animal it no longer reproduces anything. Isn't that
"broken" as opposed to "fixed?") So for Congress to fix the
student loan program is like expecting them to fix healthcare, or the economy,
or illegal immigration, or education, or homeland security, or effects of
sequestration, or energy price gouging, or income taxes, or.......you get it by
now, I'm sure. They did fix TSA and Air Traffic Control Towers
when they, themselves, had delays in flying home for vacations. That's the
way healthcare would instantly be fixed----make them use the same programs and
systems as everyone else. But they're "immune" (to use a medical
term) because they have their own health insurance program. What do they have
in terms of student loan strings that come with their job description, written
by themselves of course?
I think what we need is a less educated populace.
