When folks play by the rules, get their guy elected, and then the military steps
in and changes it all up, the lesson is clear. Don't play by the rules.
Seek power another way.
If you are going to have a coup best to just shoot the old guard immediately.
The Iranians did and for a while corruption stopped dead in its tracks. In the
Philippines they didn't and the old crowd has resinstated the previous
policy of making a run to the Swiss banks with suitcases full of cash. Even the
Swiss banks were embarassed (if that's possible).
It's an ethical dilemma. The choice is between bad or worse. There are no
My understanding is that the man that was elected immediately gave himself
additional powersand used them to further his own agenda. The Egyptian
people, after about a year of this, demanded his removal from office and
succeeded in obtaining it. I think it is best that we do not meddle in the
affairs of other nations.
