The Federal Government is allowed by the Constitution to own a piece of land not
exceeding ten miles square. Other than military bases, that "District"
is all the land that the people have authorized the Federal Government to own
and manage (Article 1, Section 8, Clause 17).We are each citizens of
the State in which we live. The United States is a federation of states, where
citizens of one states are allowed to travel and do business with citizens of
other states without interference from the federal government. No citizen of
any other state automatically "owns" part of Utah just because they are
a citizen of that other state. No other state can own "part" of Utah.
The Constitution forbids that. (Article IV, Section 3)
Well Mike, then blame the early leaders of the Utah for making the deal that
made. Tell me Mike, how much did Brigham Young pay Mexico for Utah anyway? It
was a sovereign state before it joined the union - right? By what
you say... then the purchases of great portions of American from the French,
Mexico and Russia... are... in fact.... invalid.... unconstitutional. Perhaps
it is then a Mexican flag that need to be flying over Utahs capitol. Be really
careful for what you are asking. if these purchases truly were not
constitutional.... be prepared for the unintended consequences. How
good is your spanish anyway?
What's more important... SAYING the right things? Or DOING the right
things?I know what she's SAYING... What is she DOING?
she said BO would not designate any new monuments without talking to local
leaders first. slick willy told our congressional delegation the DAY BEFORE,
that he was not going to do it, then he turned around and did. We KNOW we
cannot believe anything they say.even if she IS speaking the truth
(which I doubt), BO's idea of "consulting" would be to call them 15
minutes before his news conferences to dictate to the local leaders what he was
going to do.
Mike ascribes to the Glenn Beck "make up constitutional law to conform with
your religious/political belief" school. History should be molded as well.
