I have doubts about 'affirmative action' as corrective medicine for
curing discrimination so pervasive in history that it became institutionalize.
Affirmative action is the type of flawed solution to expect from imperfect human
beings. But is it without merit? Has it done anything to create "a more
perfect union?" I think it has.Sometimes, George Will's
silence is deafening. He scratches the surface just enough to intrigue the

If it is not legitimate to take past abuses into account and the lingering

"clarity is incompatible with the Supreme Court's prior decisions
carving out a higher education exemption from the Constitution's
marvelously clear guarantee of equal protection of the laws."-------------Clarity is **always** incompatible with deception. The web of deceptive language and logic that was and has since been

supposed attempt to eradicate them is, to any honest observer, tragically
IF Racial preferences in admissions to a public university do not violate the
principle of equal protection of the law... what does?Maybe I
don't understand what "equal protection under the law" means.Maybe it means that laws can be written to treat different people
differently (based on race, religion, gender, income, sexual orientation,
etc)... IF the law was intended to increase equality??? Is that what "equal
protection under the law" means?
To "2 bits" regarding the meaning of "equal protection under the
law", I think it boils down to a viewpoint by some that is reflected in the
infamous quote from George Orwell's "Animal Farm"It
comes about when "Napolean", the dictatorial head pig justifies his
deceptive, very discriminatory and authoritarian policies by altering an
original and simple, unifying motto for all the different animals on the farm
which held that, "All animals are equal" with the addendum stating that,
"...but some animals are more equal than others".
When ethnic minority students bring truly diverse ideas to a program, as Julea
Ward did to the psychology program at Eastern Michigan University, they are
forced out because they are going against the dogma that the white liberals have
degreed all should follow.
Re Craig ClarkYou trust correctly.
