There's the pot calling the kettle black.
This President saying this is about as true blue as President Clinton wearing
the brown leather military flight jacket when both have distaste for the
military and all it entails except for maybe picking up votes or followers to
the next election, which won't be this President except for claiming
martial law.John McCain did a great patriot job in the military for
Washington, D.C. and his work in the Senate has finally got to him in a way that
isn't positive for his next few years or a legacy after that.Military members, retirees and veterans need more respect than these two
former Presidents can give. Military doesn't need a
Commander-in-Chief that doesn't have Integrity and Honor that centuries of
military men and women have given to this great country and it's citizens.
However, citizens that take what they have for granted will soon realize that
they have given up the freedoms that men and women have given their blood for
others to have.Citizens don't go to polling booths due to their
excuses of their vote doesn't count. Citizens have become by-standers
instead of participators of government.
Interesting statement coming from the man who is responsible for giving orders
to stand down when fellow troops were dying, then later admitting to not
President Obama had to take a crash course to learn the function of a modern
military. That being said, Mr. Obama been far from perfect, give him credit when
the status of forces agreement had reached it's expiration date for Iraq,
he had the courage to say enough, Iraq will stand on it's own without the
United States Military having a forever commitment in an Arab nation. Soon the
time will expire for the Afghanistan, hopefully all the troops return back to
the United States. What occurred in Bengazi was a failure, assets could
have been used to protect lives and send a clear message to the Radical Muslim
world that acts of terrorism will swiftly be dealt with. It will do no good to
intervene in Syria when the Arab World should deal with their Arab neighbor. The
challenge for Mr. Obama and Sec. Hagel is how and when to use the the US
Military. Maybe a thorough reading of the Weinburger Doctrine will save
thousands of lives of US Servicemen.
Hollow words from a hollow man.
I echo the fine comment from @Riverton Cougar as well as that of@Tom in CA.
The military might that we have is muffled by a President, Vice-President and
Secretary of Defense and it appears that top appointed Generals by this
President have failed in their leadership training they received. They may try
to manage but they have failed leading our troops to higher standards and
values. The unfortunate aspect is people have fallen a notch or two on what is
character, leadership, responsibility, accountability, integrity, honor and the
teachings that were valued by our ancestors. The military were a higher notch
when this President took office in 2009 but without a Commander-in-Chief that is
supposed to govern at the head and several Secretaries of Defense that have
lacked the Core Values that the military have as a guide and compass for
morality, we are lacking. If the top Generals and Colonels don't
lead by example, they have failed their dedicated men and women on the front
lines. After awhile, even the Internet becomes a tool for the wrong purposes
with quick access to sites that don't build character nor bring truth and
wisdom from their leaders. In the military you have to have trust. If it
doesn't exist, sad days.
Omahahusker,in case you missed it, BO was negotiating with the Iraqis to
stay longer than the the exit bush had worked out with them. BO gets no credit
@ lost in DC - I didn't miss it. I am a Vet that was there in
2010-2011 while the negotiations were ongoing. It wasn't going to work,
Pres. Malaki wanted full judicial control of the military. US servicemen could
be held and tried by the Iraq government. One of the few times I will give Pres.
Obama credit during his time in office. We were wrong to go there, we stayed too
I have no respect for Obama. Who is leading this nation? the
president doesn't know anything! He learns about what is going on when
he watches the news! What comes out of this Presidents mouth is nothing
but words with no substance behind them. He says one thing and does
omahahusker, thank you for your service.BO was correct
not to give in to Malaki's requestsHe was INCORRECT to want to
This coming from a "commander-in-chief" who was AWOL on the night 4
Americans were slaughtered in Benghazi. Further - he won't say where he
was. Don't take our troops for granted???
I suppose NOT taking troupes for granted would also apply to NOT abandoning
troupes trying to defend the Benghazi US compound?? I would assume that any
President who truly cared about US troupes would have stayed in touch through
out the night of the Benghazi attack instead of getting one brief update - going
to bed - then jumping back out on the campaign trail the next morning as if
nothing had happened. I would also assume a president who truly cared would have
ordered in reinforcements instead of giving the order to 'stand down'.
Yes it is always good to have an example as president rather than a complete
fraud and hypocrite. Say one thing - do another - the Obama motto. What a
Only more proof it doesn't matter what he says. The fruits of hate are very
apparent. When I agreed with Bush, I was happy to admit it. Although it was
The way I have always seen it is that the GOP supports War. The dems are more
likely to support the troops.
Actually, JoeBlow, the democrats have a tendancy to cut money for veterans and
military benefits far more often.Do you want to know why so many of our
military families are on food stamps?Maybe you should look into why
veterans disability is cut while welfare and federal disability monies are
increased. If you loose your mind to drug abuse and become fatter then a
cow, you will get more government assistance, then if you have PTSD and loose
you legs to war.Families on welfare get more money then families in the
service of our country.Liberal politics.
Tom in CA:You forgot! It was a video which led to the attack. Not
terrorists.I have more respect for Lt. Dan, then our commander.
President Obama's recent rethinking of the rules for American military
engagement internationally will be of historical significance. He is the first
modern president in that sense. Battling international terrorism differs from
previous strategic decision-making and requires a thorough understanding of
U.S.' and international' interests. Obama is the man to do that. Unlike his adversaries, McCain and Romney, Obama is too young to have
served in Vietnam. (Romney avoided service. McCain is a hero and was a POW.)
Obama has arrived at his understanding of the military through research and
analysis. His willingness to place faith in experienced military men to carry
out the strategies he develops as chief executive is admirable. Anyone able to appreciate the role of the U.S. president in today's world
should realize President Obama's foreign policy has been a success.
Interloper:So why jet fighters, tanks, and billions of dollars to
the Muslim Brotherhood? Why are we still in Afghanistan?
One thing that is seldom mentioned is that Arlington National Cemetery is
located on property that formerly belonged to General Robert E. Lee. Following
the Civil War, he was branded a traitor, even though he fought to defend his
home state of Virginia from troops which traveled all across the American south,
looting, killing, and burning like Attila the Hun. Those who think of the Civil
War in terms of reruns of "Gone With the Wind" don't get this.Abam's presence at Arlington only serves to illustrate that there
is a high price to be paid in any conflict over civil rights, and the stakes are
very high if you lose. In the upcoming conflict, of whatever form it takes, most
of us are not even planning to fight, so that is simply "polanning to
