Is there anything repubs will do for the people? They are constantly just
looking out for big business, big banks, and big Wall Street campaign donors.
Why not look out for students? Keep that loan money as low as possible! Help
students out! How are we supposed to compete globally when so many other
countries subsidize and assist their youth?
Yes, lets give everyone a free ride! Opps, where will we get the money? No
matter we will do it anyway at least until we go bankrupt and when that happens
we will blame the Republicans!
I think Obama is a little confused about the process of making laws and that the
members of congress sugarless of party must all vote on a law before he can veto
it. So how can he declare this a one party law when no one has voted on it? He
should keep his mouth shut and locked out of the houses of congress while they
write and work on the laws. And abolish the gang of eight negotiators from the
white house. This proclamation and all the rest of his little quips
are baseless and an affront to the congressional process of writing laws. He has
no right to comment on laws under discussion or deliberation, its like walking
in the jury room and telling them how to vote and criteria to discuss. The primary duty of congress and democrats as well as others it the solvency
and security of this country and he has no say but to comply with congressional
laws. If that means cut and debt reduction for college and home owners education
expenses then that is their duty, Obama does not represent the congress or law
makers and forbidden to interfere with their duties.
We have a country of wimps, and beggars. Crying for handouts. Why
does the government have pay for college? Many have worked their way through,
and were better for it. They don't need to pay for the wimps.
Further proof BO refuses to work with repubs, especially if he can make
political hay if he does not.Maverick, in case you missed it, the
government subsidies GO to all those evil people you decry. So it's the
repubs who are trying to shift more of the risk for newer loans to the private
sector and stop the government from continuing to pay all those evil people.
But we know you think 43% is majority, so you have problems with the facts.
@ mountainman, my2cents, worf, and lostindc: Here is a really novel idea -
since we are all so concerned about the solvency of the Federal Government,
let's put student loan rates at the same rate as banks pay when they borrow
money from the Federal government.Oh, wait - that would actually
result in a reduction to student loan borrowers. So let's raise
the rate banks pay and put them under the same conditions as student loan
Bubble,OK, when interminable student loans with no identified repayment
source present the same risks as overnight bank borrowerings, then sure, charge
the same rates.
