This whole story is fine in a make-believe world but this is not where we live.
The biggest thing still missing is where is the money to do this coming from?
The government should pay for more residency to ensure more doctors but who has
the money? This is all about spending someone else's money and we
don't have enough to go around.
Romneycare, the blueprint for Obamacare, is very popular in MA. "Republican juniors in the Senate and House are not working on repealing
RomneyCare like similar freshman Republicans in Washington seem so hellbent on
killing Obama’s plan. The conservative Boston Herald says it is worth
supporting. There is no rancor, or backlash. When he signed the law
in 2006, Romney wrote in a statement, “Today, we spend approximately $1
billion on the medical cost for the uninsured. It is fair to ask all residents
to purchase health insurance or have the means to pay for their own care. This
personal responsibility principle means that individuals should not expect
society to pay for their medical costs if they forego affordable health
insurance options.”(Forbes 1/20/12)That said, MA needs
to continue work on controlling medical costs. Obamacare has some cost control
measures unlike Romneycare which didn't address costs.
