"This week could mark the end of the Obama administration's second
term." The last 30 years have witnessed the U S. tax system become more and
more regressive, in terms of declining top marginal rates and increased payroll
taxes. Mr Liljenquist can scarcely conceal his glee at the continued
destruction of the American working class should his prediction come true. I
grew up a working class kid on the Salt Lake westside. From that locale the
future has never looked more bleak thanks to guys like Liljenquist.
The British pulled out of Benghazi, months earlier. Is their intel that much
better than ours? Good job Jason.
Chaffetz never was searching for the actual truth. He was ony playing politics,
and trying to get the selective "truth" he wanted to find. He missed
out on a lot of REAL truth. Sad.
Only in the fevered imaginations of hyper-partisan Republicans is
"Benghazi" a blow to the Obama administration.Shall we look
at Republican votes on legislation to fund security improvements for our
embassies? Or their (non)responses to the deaths of US diplomats abroad during
the Bush years? There are things to criticize the Obama
administration about, but Benghazi isn't one of them.
@ Furry. Playing politics is what the Obama administration has been doing;
stonewalling, cover-ups and telling us it isn't important. When Republican
crooks and liars are investigated it "getting to the truth". When
Democrat crooks and liars are investigated it playing politics and nothing more
than a "witch hunt", right? Chaffetz is doing his job, unlike ANY
Can't you find something useful to do Chaffetz?
@ Marxist. "The last 30 years have witnessed the U S. tax system become more
and more regressive." Since about 47% of Americans pay no federal income
taxes and nearly 80% of all federal income taxes is paid by the most wealthy
Americans, please explain how our tax system is become more and more regressive?
Or did you mean repressive in stead of regressive?
Is this the same Chaffetz that outed Lybian CIA agents? The same guy who votes
to decrease security spending on our embassies ? I see a disconnect here
This issue is about four American lives that were lost due to the indiscretion
and carelessness of Hillary Clinton and the current administration. It cannot and should not be swept under the rug. Keep searching for the
truth, Jason. You are one of the few that are in the right position to
represent us on this fiasco.
Mountanman-If you go fishing, you go where the fish are. 80% of the income
taxes are paid by the wealthy (of which I am one) because we're the ones
with the cash. We live in the greatest country in the world and are taxed less
than other Western, democratic nations. Conservatives that have run our federal
goverment have time and again proven they are incapable of balancing a budget or
managing the economy. Look no further than the Eurozone right now where they
have responded to the 2008 recession with conservative austerity measures
instead of doing what we have done here. America has been blessed this past 4
years that politicans like Chaffetz are in the minority and have been unable to
worsen the situation left by the GOP prior to 2008.
Republican efforts so far have been appropriate. But they can overplay their
hand. Rand Paul may have let the cat out of the bag when he said Benghazi
should preclude Hillary Clinton from ever holding higher office. Are the Repubs
after the truth or working on the next presidential election ?
"An administration that is willing to lie to protect itself from criticism
is unworthy of our trust and support."Good Work Jason! Keep the
pressure on these guys.
Chaffetz is not searching for truth, nor is Dan L. Both are looking for ways to
gain the political upper hand. The truth is that nasty demonstrations over the
"video" erupted all over the Middle East that day. Since no one has
actually talked to the Benghazi attackers, no one--not even Jason
Chaffetz--knows exactly what motivated them to attack, or if the video played a
part. How can you cover up something you don't know?
HS fan, Oh yes, the Euro is doing great isn't it? That is why Germany is
having to bail out the Euro! Also, if you add ALL taxes we pay, we are not one
of the least taxed nations on earth. Add them up! Mine are about 50% of my
gross, before Obamacare taxes coming soon to your house. Lastly, if person A
earns 100K and pays a federal income tax of 15%= $15,000. If person B earns 50K
and pays 20%= $10,000. Who paid the most taxes and how is that
"regressive"? Please don't tell me taxes are lower for persons or
higher income or that taxes expressed as a percent of income is fair, it
isn't. Do higher income people use more government services or are lower
income people subsidized?
"I am grateful that Congressman Chaffetz and his colleagues are asserting
their constitutional prerogative to investigate and police the abuses of the
executive branch."Alleged abuses. This is not the end of the
Obama administration. This is a manufactured political stunt to entrench
partisan divides. The fact of the matter is that Republicans in the House
aren't trying to police anything since the independent commission already
determined flaws in policy within the State Department. If the House
has any actual evidence, they should impeach the President. Since the evidence
is scant at best, you won't see articles of impeachment passing the House
anytime soon. What is more disturbing, and should be disturbing to all Americans
and Utahns in particular, is that in conservative circles, the President has
already been impeached, tried and convicted without the benefit of due process.
Liljenquist is a hypocrite with respect to the U.S. Constitution. He condemns an
alleged abuse of power, while fueling the partisan nature of the inquiry all
while ignoring that the President must be tried before convicted.Articles of Impeachment will not be forthcoming from the House. They will drag
this past the elections next year. Count on it.
Did the congressional hearing prove that the Benghazi attack was directed by any
one terrorist group? The answer is no. Did the hearing result in a resolve to
increase funding for Security Forces? The answer is no. So what really was the
hearing really for? Can I saw politics.
Some comments are laughable. The Obama apologists are out in force. You folks
should apply to the 24th of July parade commitee to secure the jobs of following
the horses. You know the folks with the brooms and shovels. Since when is lying
by the POTUS acceptable. Oh and demonstrators alway attend demonstrations with
mortars and rocket propeled grenades in their back pockets.
Partisan cheap shots are alive and well here in Utah. Meanwhile... Where are the
REAL solutions to REAL problems effecting Americans? Dan? Jason? Crickets...
The "truth" about Benghazi is that Chaffetz voted to decrease security
funding long before this happened.Chaffetz also failed to express any
outrage when this same sort of attack occurred several times when Bush was
president. Why don't you guys just stick to real issues? If either
Dan or Jason cared about our future they would be objective when it comes to
climate change and perhaps listen to the real experts instead of faux news
Mtnmn:As I've suggested before, if you are paying 50 percent of
your gross in taxes, you are either extremely poor or are the worst money
manager in the country. I earn above average income for a Utahn, but am squarely
in the middle class. My total taxes (even including excise taxes on my cell
phone service) amount to about 21 percent of my gross income. And I do
absolutely nothing to try to avoid paying taxes. I have no mortgage interest to
deduct and no children under 17, so I get no child tax credit. My taxes are
about as high as they can be for someone in my tax bracket. Our tax rates are
well below what my friends in Germany pay.And as for the wealthy
paying 80 percent of all income taxes, that's certainly too low,
considering how quickly they are accumulating wealth. Will you still be
complaining when the top 5 percent own 95 percent of the wealth and pay 90
percent of the income taxes? Do you not understand the trajectory of these
Where was the GOP's outrage when American embassies were attacked over 10
times and over 50 Americans were killed between 2000-08?
@Ernest T. Bass - a realty check.1. The Obama administration has never
claimed that budget cuts were responsible for the lapse in Benghazi security. In
fact, the assets were in place for protection and rescue.2. No one has
accused the Bush administration of incompetence or cover up in those previous
attacks.3. If there was nothing to hide, why the 12 iterations,
"stylistic" changes in the talking points and stone walling?4.
Chaffetz is an easy target for the left, but he is the messenger, not the
message. Focusing on one congressman rather than the issues is quite
disingenuous.5. Jay Carney was shredded by the mainstream press for his
mendacity. 6. Whenever Hillary Clinton says there is nothing, forget about
it, chances are there is something and we should not forget about it.
Great, no tell him to go find those WMD's in Iraq! BTW most
people in this country wont care who the Replubicans think is un-fit to run for
President in 2016.
Though I voted for president Obama, I no longer feel closely aligned with him
because of his broken pledge to respect the 2nd amendment.Someone
gave a stand down order to navy seals to abandon the now dead ambassador. These
seals need to be interviewed under oath to find who gave the order. Then that
person needs to be interviewed to see who have it to him and so on to the first
person who gave the order. Why would a government abandon its
Re: "If you go fishing, you go where the fish are. 80% of the income taxes

below those affected by the Obama tax hikes have nearly three times the income
of the "evil rich" soaked by Obama's new taxes. But,
that cohort also contains nearly 23 times the number of voters.Obama, himself, admitted bloated government wouldn't gain much from his
soak-the-rich scheme, so, what were Obama and his liberal buddies in Congress
really after? The answer is, of course, VOTES. Political power.Sure, they'll take the money and buy more votes with it, but the
votes are more important than the money. If it really were just money, the
regime would've imposed a smaller tax on more people.Benghazi
illustrates the same issue -- it's all about political power. Nothing else
really matters to this regime. Nothing. Not truth. Not integrity. Not
freedom. Not honesty or decency.Just power.
Way to go Mr. Chaffetz. I think the current administration was caught trying to
appease the enemy, and it did not work. It got some Americans killed. Instead of
standing down, we should have gone after the terrorists with military force when
the attack began.
A political witch hunt by the GOP. Business as usual for them and the right.
Devoid of any meaningful substance the party of NO resorts to creating boogey
men to keep their base scared and draw their attention away from the fact that
the GOP does the bidding for the wealthy. The GOP wants to continue to raid the
middle class and destroy their future. Absolutely unbelievable that people fall
for this time and time again. Fortunately the GOP base is dwindling as their
core constituents grow old and die. They soon will be extinct. It can't
come soon enough IMVHO.
"This issue is about four American lives that were lost due to the
indiscretion and carelessness of Hillary Clinton and the current
administration."That does not appear to be true. The ongoing
focus I see only deals with the aftermath."OBAMA, Clinton and
Rice didn't call it a Terrorist attack.". That is what Chaffetz is all
about.Very little outrage and investigation is spent on reducing the
likelihood of this occurring in the future.
I am not aware of Jason voting for cuts in security. If you are talking about
the Sequestration then you certainly display your ignorance of the way the
Federal Government is funded. Because of the ruse of Base Line Budgeting every
department receives more each year automatically. All the Sequestration did was
slow the increase--their were no cuts!!! If the current Administration
determined to cut where it hurt the most how is that Congress' fault? The
Sequestration was Obama's program anyway.
To me, Dan Liljenquist and Jason Chaffetz have at heart the republican agenda to
deflate and destroy anything President Obama says or does. That they have this
agenda renders anything they actually say or do moot. But let's
stay real - the Democrats do the same thing when there is a Republican President
in the White House. Shame. There are a lot of folks who would just
like the candidates they have elected to stick to the business of actually
solving domestic problems. Any politician can criticize, few can actually get
something done. I think I miss Mitt.
Re: procuradorfiscal"The 40% of Americans just below those
affected by the Obama tax hikes have nearly three times the income of the
"evil rich" soaked by Obama's new taxes."Forget
sophistry, that statement is a complete and total lie.
Much ado about very little - talking points. There were 13 terrorists attacks
(resulting in 84 deaths) on American embassies under George W. Congress held 3
hearings. Republicans use the filibuster to obstruct the majority will of the
people and now are using alleged scandals to oppose everything with the name
Obama on it. As in the Clinton years they can derail his agenda with
accusations, hearings, investigations, and possible litigation, while important
issues like economic stimulus, defecit reduction, immigration reform and
universal background checks are ignored. The only real scandal here is the
Republicans in Congress refusing a $300 million increase funding to beef up
security in embassies around the world.
Danish American"I am not aware of Jason voting for cuts in
security. If you are talking about the Sequestration then you certainly display
your ignorance of the way the Federal Government is funded."Just
because you are ignorant, doesn't mean others are. From the
Huffington Post (as well as a host of other news outlets, conservative and
liberal alike):---------CNN anchor Soledad O'Brien asked the
Utah Republican if he had "voted to cut the funding for embassy
security.""Absolutely," Chaffetz said. "Look we have
to make priorities and choices in this country. We have…15,000 contractors
in Iraq. We have more than 6,000 contractors, a private army there, for
President Obama, in Baghdad. And we’re talking about can we get two dozen
or so people into Libya to help protect our forces. When you’re in tough
economic times, you have to make difficult choices. You have to prioritize
things.”----------The interview was taped live. You can view
the Congressman's words for yourself.
Mr. Chaffetz did an excellent job on Governor Romney's presidental campaign
as well. Seems everything he gets involved with turns out quite well. At least
we can all be thankful he's not in a Romney cabinet post.
@Danish American"I am not aware of Jason voting for cuts in
security."Surprised you had not seen that. He has been proud of
it.Let me help you out.O’BRIEN: Is it true that
you voted to cut the funding for embassy security?CHAFFETZ:
Absolutely. Look, we have to make priorities and choices in this country
Sorry libs, budget cuts were not responsible for the Benghazi fiasco. This was
not embassy security, it was consulate and most of Chaffetz' cuts would
affect Iraq and Afghanistan. If an office or consulate is too dangerous, close
it. That is a State Department responsibility as was having the ambassador leave
Benghazi as other western diplomate did. Remember, too much MSNBC can cloud your
thinking. Try another approach.
Every few months the GOP comes up with some new wacky conspiracy which will
"ruin" Obama. Here we are almost 6 years into his administration and
he's still doing fine. How about the GOP's approval rating?
Couldn't be deeper into the garbage can.I suggest the GOP stop
worrying about Obama and concentrate on their own platform instead. Women, young
people, minorities, and those who aren't rich, are still as turned off as
ever by the GOP.
The report by ABC News on e-mails has been discredited. This column
is primarily a partisan rant that offers little insight into Benghazi.
I am not going to say anything proObama here as this all could have been put to
rest a long time ago had there been full disclosure... but...."It is obvious now that the State Department and the White House conspired
to cover up the careless mistakes that resulted in the murders of Ambassador
Stevens and his colleagues. "Are you kidding me! This never
had anything to do with being able to save those guys. It is rather disgusting
that "politics" has been lowered to this level, pretending that somehow
these men were sacrificed to further political interest. The only ones trying
to make political advantage of t his are people like Dan Liljenquist. What careless mistake was made that resulted in anyones death..... I am still
waiting for one good supporting piece of evidence that supports this claim.
Nothing reveled to date supports that assumption. This is a Salem witch hunt
with Jason and Dan playing the role of the accusing little girls.
Nothing has come out of this Benghazi witchhunt that has mattered. Issa's
claim that Secretary Clinton signed off on stuff was a lie. The claim that there
were a dozen sets of edits to the talking points turned out to be false. The
Republican panel never asked the appropriate people why a support group
wasn't sent (nor did they point out that even if they were sent at the
earlier time they wouldn't have made it in time anyway). At this point
there's nothing but monday morning quarterbacking and bashing on Secretary
Clinton trying to pin blame on her all the while their expert
witnesses/whistleblowers are saying she wasn't responsible. This is just
one big joke. Could Benghazi have been handled better? Yes. But this idea that
there's something major in here for which the President or Secretary
Clinton (if she still had the job) could've been impeached... that's
@4601"2. No one has accused the Bush administration of incompetence or
cover up in those previous attacks."They did cover up the
reports that Iraq had no WMDs, however."3. If there was nothing
to hide, why the 12 iterations, "stylistic" changes in the talking
points and stone walling?"That actually turned out to be false.
One of the news networks (ABC or CNN) got that wrong and the other debunked it.
@Big Bubba"Instead of standing down, we should have gone
after the terrorists with military force when the attack began."The reports indicated that even if they sent them their when initially
considered, they still wouldn't have made it in time and it would have
endangered security at the embassy in Tripoli.@Hemlock"This was not embassy security, it was consulate" Consulates and embassies are in the exact same category so this is an
incorrect statement of yours. Goodness, you all had days to listen
to testimony, why do you not know any of these things? Oh right... Republicans
went in with a pre-conceived narrative and only called witnesses to try and help
build something into it.
Fox news reported it.
3 cheers for Chaffetz. We need more politicians willing to go after truth and
Pure and utter hogwash. The Benghazi attack involved State Dept and CIA
assets. Therefore, as should be expected they and other intelligence agencies
(FBI etc) would be involved in determining the facts and drafting any talking
points, to represent what was known with consideration of protecting the
investigative process. How do U.S. law enforcements officers release info.
about new crimes committed in the U.S.? We often don't get a clear and
full picture within a matter of days or weeks, sometimes it is months or never.
For example:Lilinjenquist:“characterized the event
as a spontaneous demonstration that spun out of control.”Fact:
It’s important to note that all the evidence, then and now, shows that the
talking points always said that the attack grew out of a spontaneous
demonstration in response to the Cairo protests. Claim: The
administration blamed a YouTube video for prompting the attack Fact:
False. The administration did not specifically state the Benghazi attack was a
result of the video. It did reference Cairo protests (which alledgedly were in
response to the videos) and violence against (multiple-Greece, Yemen, Sudan
Tunisia and others) embassies sparked by the video.
Liljenquist: “the State Department scrubbed all references to
al-Qaida.”“The internal debate did not include political
interference from the White House, according to the e-mails, which were seen by
Congress months ago and released pulically yesterday.White House
officials did not challenge that analysis, the e-mails show, nor did they object
to its inclusion in the public talking points. But CIA deputy director
Michael Morell later removed the reference to Ansar al-Sharia because the
assessment was still classified and because FBI officials believed that making
the information public could compromise their investigation, said senior
administration officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe
the internal debate.Additionally, the release of the talking points
emails shows that the CIA's general counsel was concerned about naming
specific groups because it could "conflict with express instructions from
NSS/DOJ/FBI that, in light of the criminal investigation, we are not to generate
statements with assessments as to who did this." The emails also show State
Department spokesperson Victoria Nuland expressing concern that naming the
terrorist groups possibly involved might "prejudice the investigation”
(as to who was responsible for the attacks).”
I am SO glad to see the Deseret News covering this story. The American people
need to know the truth and the press is not doing it's job on this and on
the many other scandals going on. ONLY the Deseret News seems to be willing to
run stories on these major scandals, most main stream media are ignoring them
for the most part. I applaud Deseret News for that, but I wish they would make
them front page news instead of having to dig for the stories.
I know Jason and the repubs want to bring Hillary down with this hearing but it
really will not happen.
"An administration that is willing to lie to protect itself from criticism
is unworthy of our trust and support."Does that refer to
re:MomofSeven"I am SO glad to see the Deseret News covering this
story."Wrong.DN is not "covering" this story.
They are "covering" Chaffetz and Liljenquist. DN has not
taken the time to read the e-mails or talking points, nor have they read the
report of the Accountability Review Board headed by Amdmiral Mike Mullen and
Ambassador Pickering. They do no fact-checking whatsoever. DN is
merely serving as a conduit for those who tell lies and sow misinformation. Shame.
Once again, when people accuse politicians of playing politics, it's like
accusing a doctor of practicing medicine. Of course this is all politics, and
everything Obama has done and will do is politics too. Hopefully this Benghazi
stuff will stifle any attempt of Hillary to run. If the Republicans can beat
her now, instead of in an election, so much the better. There is nothing wrong
in playing politics and getting the best advantage for the side you are on.
That is what elections are all about. So everyone get off the high horse with
accusations of Republicans doing this for politics. I hope they are, and hope
they continue, and I hope they are successful.
Too all of you who think you have some big point with the attacks that occured
during Bush, you are forgetting one important point. Bush did not lie about the
cause and source of the attacks, he admitted it was terriorists. He didn't
try to cover it up like Obama. Now since Obama has been found out, further
investigations have brought out stuff like why was security not there ect.
Obama brought this on himself, he has no one to blame but himself, though he
will die trying. I mean lying.
My feeling about this entire "investigation" is 'so what?'
Conservatives hated Obama 5 yrs ago. They hated him last year. They hate him
this year. This gives them something at which to focus their hate. Obama supporters see this for what it is... political gamesmanship.Obama haters will continue to hate. Obama supporters will continue to
This is one of the most biased pieces the Des News has printed. All Chaffetz
has done is burn time in Congress they should have been spending on major issues
facing our country. These political sideshows are emotionally appealing, but
they won't resolve the partisan issues and will only exacerbate them.
merich39Bush haters will continue to hate. Bush supporters will
continue to support. You can quote me!

I could post links... but try this... google it. Every major network, magazine,
and newspaper has something on this. Either you are living in a web free zone,
or you are listening to FoxNews pat itself on the back. Heck, even "the
Daily Show" has covered this.I know the right things they are a
persecuted bunch, but lets get a reality check here folks.... this is being
covered by just about every media outlet.... and more than a few blogs.
One day after The White House released 100 pages of Benghazi emails, a report
has surfaced alleging that Republicans released a set with altered text.CBS News reported Thursday that leaked versions sent out by the GOP last
Friday had visible differences than Wednesday's official batch. Two
correspondences that were singled out in the report came from National Security
Adviser Ben Rhodes and State Department Spokeswoman Victoria Nuland. Most Americans have moved on from the Benghazi attack. Republicans are merely
whipping up their ever shrinking base and underscoring their hyper-partisanship.
Chaffetz and other House Republicans are wasting taxpayers money and
time--voting for the 37th time to repeal Obamacare. What a joke!
@ Kent De Forrest. You challenged me on my comment that my taxes are approaching
50%. Here they are for your perusal and I am probably about average for those
who pay income taxes. I have rounded the nearest .5%.Federal income
taxes= 13.5%FICA 7.5%Medicare/Medicaid
1.5%State income taxes 9.5%State Sales taxes 5.5%Property taxes 9.5%Fuel, excise, car License, etc.
2.5%TOTAL ______ 49.5%Since Obamacare is now another tax, the sky is the limit!
Thank you Jason for pursuing this investigation. This is far worse than
Watergate and the liberal press has done their best to cover for this
administration. We all know that if Bush had done this he would have already
been impeached. We appreciate your efforts to find out the truth Mr. Chaffetz.
It just slays me how people react to politics based solely on their affiliation
and not using common sense. "Bebyebe" in his/her comments above asked
why Mr. Chafetez couldn't find something better to do. I am assuming that
this person is a Liberal...pretty safe assumption I would think. Conducting
congressional inquiries on dereliction of duty or abuse of power IS his job. As
well as the #1 activity of Democrats over the years. I guess Democrats had
nothing better to do while crying for inquiries on Pres. Bush's wire
tapping activities??? Well, the efforts of the Bush administration were in
accordance with the Patriot Act that was adopted and voted for by both
Republicans and Democrats. Speaking out of both sides of the mouth has become a
perfected activity by the Liberals in government as well as those in the general
Mountanman-Assuming all of your math is correct there(which it
isn't), you can only blame 22% of your taxes on Obama and the Federal
goverment. The other 27% appears to be the result of living in that socialist
state called Idaho. Which by the way, is run by the GOP.
Truthseeker I hope you keep posting what you just wrote above because it is the
closest to what actually happened. Let me just highlight one point in your
post. The emails we all can now see clearly show the White House played no part
in directing the initial talking points, were seen by Congress months ago. Now
that is evident guess what the GOP response is? They now want to know what the
President and Hillary were actually doing the night of the attack. Seriously,
they want to know if they were watching TV, eating dinner, playing with the
kids etc. All the while serious matters like a skyrocketing deficit is going
unanswered...oh wait new information in the budget deficit for 2013 will be 642
billion. Obama has cut the annual deficit in half since taking office. Good
job Obama...right Mtnman?
Wolf Blitzer got the shock of his life when he interviewed Chaffetz live on CNN
on May 15th! Chaffetz contradicted Wolf's comment that the State Dept said
that 4 employees were fired over Benghazi. Chaffetz said that none of the 4
employees were fired: "they're still receiving an income". A few
minutes later Wolf came back on the air and said that Chaffetz was right! 3 were
only put on Administrative Leave and one resigned. Even Wolf Blitzer was shocked
at the official blatant lies put out by Hillary's crew. It's been said
that Obama was going around the country saying that Bin Laden was dead and
AlQaida (terrorism) was decimated. If it got out that terrorism was in fact
still alive and killing Americans, it would look bad for his re-election. Also,
Obama didn't want to let it out that we helped the Lybian rebels and they
turned on us and killed 4 Americans. Also, we were running guns through Turkey
to Syria and that's why Stevens was there at that day. Tons more to tell.
Kudos to Jason's research!
This administration does what it has seen others do and so it is judged as the
last Bush regime was judged. An administration that is willing to lie to
protect itself from criticism is unworthy of our trust and support.I
suppose that the loss of lives here (6) equals the loss of lives at 911 (3000),
or the more than 15000 lives (4400 military 13000 civilian support) that were
lost in the Iraq war. Where was Mr. Chaffetz then? The US gets
involved overseas as they do not want to fix what is broken at home, namely
healthcare, education, domestic job incentives. If they keep the rhetoric
rflying then they can avoid doing what would help this country the most.Sad to say when those elected from Utah go to Washington and instead of
helpful or insightful changes we get more of what we always get from there.Hatch has been there for decades and things have deteriorated
dramatically and now more of the same.
The Prophet has told us to pray for all people; that is what I will do. If
someone breaks the law, throw the book at the them; if not, let it go.
Three thousand people died on 9-11, are we going to keep blaming or move on?
All 2nd terms are a struggle, so I don't feel sorry for the President, he
didn't have to run again. I voted for Obama and Romney because they are
both great men.
Are people here paid to apologize for Obama? It's hard to believe that so
many people would really be so misinformed."Claim: The
administration blamed a YouTube video for prompting the attack Fact:
False. The administration did not specifically state the Benghazi attack was a
result of the video."Here's from Jay Carney, White House
Press Secretary: "Again, it's actively under investigation, both the
Benghazi attack and incidents elsewhere. And my point was that we don't
have and did not have concrete evidence to suggest that this was not in reaction
to the film.""The reports indicated that even if they sent
them their when initially considered, they still wouldn't have made it in
time and it would have endangered security at the embassy in Tripoli."The excuse that they wouldn't have made it in time is so pathetic!
The attack lasted 8 hours, and granted that they didn't know there would be
time to get there in time, you can't not go and say there's no hope,
there's no time.Imagine being wounded and your friends
won't call an ambulance and say "he won't make it in time".
What's the problem with the Republicans altering the text of a e-mails to
confirm their fevered pre-conceived bias?To prove my point,
let's play the alter game with the headline for this Dan/Jason love
fest.Search for truth in Benghazi, Chaffetz paid off Liljenquist.See...the meaning in the altered headline is the same as the meaning in
the DN headline...OOPS!
Oh, not so fast Repubs.Appears you and yours have been taught how to
creatively and cleverly change other's emails.Republicans have
learned how to secretly alter emails to make the desired talking points THEY
want the Benghazi emails to display. And THEY thought nobody would

Democrats also; going to put aside petty bickering and partisan politics and
start working toward REAL solutions to our country's problems not only
economic but all of the problems we face.I believe we have the
capacity and capability to solve our country's problems, but the first
thing that needs to be done is to take back control of our political process.
Get rid of PACs, and special interests' strangle hold on the process of
politics and government at all levels.
People died.Needlessly.They should've received help
before the attacks, and during.I don't care about political
affiliation. I care about LIVES and RESPONSIBILITY.The current
administration should be held accountable. Those families deserve
the truth, and apologies.
It sickens me, SICKENS ME, that idiots on here play Republican vs Democrat.
That kind of childishness is why this country is in the (many) mess(es) it is
in. GROW UP. Demand the truth. Absolve no one because, "They
did it first," or "They do it, too!"
After 30-plus years as an investigative journalist, I am saddened at the state
of affairs regarding the U.S. media seeking the truth. You all
supporting the current administration seem to have been blinded by the
media's almost trecherous disregard for what has been happening the past 4
plus years. You anti-Chaffetts posters have few legs to stand on. You
can't seem to see lies, deceit and self-service that every member of the
Obama entourage provides. The question I seem to have missed in the
Benghazi debacle is: Why was help to rescue the ambassador and others withheld?
Another question: Who gave the order to stand down? When the why and
who who are answered truthfully, then we will be farther into the real reasons
behind what happened. We hear that illicit gun running was part of the scenario.
Was the death of those men a convenient way of avoiding the ambassador having to
answer embarrassing questions about arms to Syria?Don't talk to
me about politics. The current administrartion from top to sycophants who post
on these pages have political rabies. All I ask for is the turth, where ever it
baddogYou seem to spend all your free time roaming the grassy knoll.
one old man,--are you Pagen in disguise?
Benghazi is a phony scandal. The only real controversy about it is that
Republicans cut embassy defense funding the prior year. Any mention of talking
points is political theater.
@mountanmanSorry, but your numbers don't work. Federal income
taxes, FICA, Medicare taxes, state income taxes, and property taxes are not
subject to Idaho sales tax. Over 40% of your income purportedly is going to pay
the above taxes (which are not subject sales tax). So even if you spent the
entire amount of your remaining income on items that are subject to sales tax,
the maximum amount of sales tax you could possibly pay is approx. 3.6% (60%
times 6%). I don't believe people who deceptively fudge numbers to make a
The partisan bickering (Republican versus Democrat) will stop when the naive,
foolish, and ignorant return to a belief in God, the Constitution, and personal
accountability. Both parties believe in taxation to support programs that
demean, demoralize, and do absolutely nothing to make our society more civil,
kind, or God-like. Is anyone listening?
Bandersen..I hope not. Belief in God has caused as much death and destruction
over the centuries as all other causes put together. Return to a belief in the
constitution? I think you should write that to the SCOTUS, they'll get a
kick out of it.
Perfect kick, right through the uprights Jason.
Contrary to what Mr. Liljenquist claims, Chaffetz's fishing expedition
reveals more about his own partisan hackmanship than about any sinister actions
of the Obama administration.
Obama is innocent of any wrong doing! He didn't hear about any of this
until he saw it on the news, just the same as the rest of us did.
Thank you Congressman Chaffetz. I just wish this had been "Senator
Chaffetz" instead. Hoping for the future.
Pragmatistferlife: Actually, you need to do a little more research before
throwing out the typical athiest monologue about religion being responsible for
all these horrible crimes. Although there are a few religion extremists here
and there that have done some horrible things, it doesn't even register
when you compare it to the hundreds of millions that have been killed by
athiestic regimes, most recently in Germany, Russia, and elsewhere. Perhaps
sending millions to the siberian death camps was done by the neighborhood
pastors? Do your research before throwing out the escapist athiest line about
God being responsible for the over 100 million (conservative estimates) that
have been killed by dictators, communists, etc
@bandersenActually, you need to do a little more research before
making the ridiculous claim that "there are a few religion extremists here
and there that have done some horrible things". I suggest you start by
reading about the Inquisition, which lasted for hundreds of years. Then perhaps
you could proceed to read about the Crusades, which also lasted hundreds of
