Within a car, aircraft, hotel, and home, there are so many items made of plastics or petroleum products that the off gases can combust in about a minute and a half. So when the woman who opened the back door said, "I knew it wasn't a good scene. I figured with all that fire that they were gone, man. There were just so many flames. Within maybe 90 seconds, the car was fully engulfed" that is a normal timeframe.

The fumes are toxic and combined with the flames are deadly.
