I hope the government of Bangladesh is able to avoid passage of an
anti-blasphemy law. There is nothing that proves a country's hostility to
the principles of freedom more clearly than anti-blasphemy laws.
If those who would defend Islam behave this poorly, then probably the bloggers
have a point and they shouldn't be silenced.Rather than try to
FORCE people to say good things about your religion, instead behave in such a
way that people will say good things voluntarily.You can start by
not killing your own children who don't want to live by the same religious
restrictions you choose to live by.
Oh those poor, oppressed victims of religious discrimination. They
seek only to govern their nation as their religion requires of them, to put men
of faith in control of their nation, but that nasty secular government is
persecuting them and denying them their religious freedom to arrest and punish
critics and non-believers.Yes, clearly, the world needs more
protection of religion.Because governments run according to
religious principles work out so well for everyone.Not.
To me the Religious Right looks the same in any country… ours are just a
bit more media savvy.
