If you don't like it change the channel...or turn it off altogether.
Who is forcing you to watch the tv?
Whatever happened to the Land of Liberty? Now we have people begging the
government to restrict the freedom of speech.
"Change the channel." "Just say no to drugs." "Don't
look at the nude girl on the billboard."Such advice rings hollow
when society is being "flooded" with obscenity masquerading around as
"free speech".Until is is super easy to automatically filter
out such stuff so those that don't want to be exposed to it can avoid it
altogether, then we need to speak out and get it out of the public square.Make those who want it go looking for it instead of making those who
don't want it take radical steps to avoid it. ...you know, kind of like we
have done with religion...make those who want it go to church to get it instead
of exposing everyone to it in public places (e.g. school prayers)...or do people like "The Real Maverick" favor having school prayers
and have all the atheists "cover their ears?"
Children are not prepared to make such choices. Keep it clean.Addicts lose their ability to choose. That's not freedom, either.Help keep America free and write the FCC.
I suggest that some of you get informed on what this is all about.from Snopes"The FCC is not considering "dropping its
ban" and allowing television and radio to freely broadcast profanity and
nudity on the public airwaves, but rather whether the commission should modify
its indecency standards to grant leeway for fleeting, non-repetitive cases of
such material."The issue stems from a Fox channel case where Fox
was fined for a couple of people at a live Billboard Music Awards show said a
curse word.I am always amused at the over reaction such as this will
"release a veritable torrent of morally toxic broadcast content upon
us"At least understand what you are getting outraged about.
It would be very irresponsible for the DN to report the forthcoming collapse of
the Teton dam if it weren't true. Such is the case with this FCC situation.
The dam is not about to collapse. Turn off the TV, go hide if necessary, and
don't worry. The nations' children will be OK, and the nations'
on air TV stations will be safe from being fined out of existence because of
circumstances beyond their control.
If freedom of speech means that you're only free to say things that
everybody agrees with and that don't offend anybody, it isn't much of
a freedom.Apparently some would like us to be a society of infants.
But the public airwaves are not the exclusive domain of children, and not
everything on broadcast television has to be suitable for children. TV's
not there to raise your kids. You are. It's sad when so-called
freedom-loving people insist that censorship is "true" freedom.
