There should be no amnesty/legalization at all. This will only signify that
eventually, there will be another amnesty or legalization some time in the
future. There is no way around it. They need to go back to their home
Amen anti-liar. How many amnesties since the "Amnesty to end all
Amnesties" in l986? I believe about 6. Now another for 33 million? Then
in 2030 another for 66 million? Will we ever learn? Extremely doubtful. Tweak
the number of visas but please no more amnesties. They don't work but
rather just encourage more trespassers.
Oh, please. We can't control the border and we can't send people back
while still remaining a free society. Amnesty was the right answer in '86,
and it's the right answer now. You guys seem to think immigration is a bad
We need to stop giving amnesty to illegal immigrants. Amnesty only brings more
and more of the same as we can see with the 1986 Reagan amnesty bill. And another thing, the borders can never be secured. This is a physical
impossibility. There will always be ways around it.And still
another thing... the 'overstaying visas' problem is significant and
probably bigger than border issue. Any immigration reform must include
enforcement of visa laws.
Eric - There are Immigrants and there are Illegal migrants/aliens. Try to learn
On February 4th, 2013, Vladimir Putin, the Russian president, addressed the
Russian Parliament, and gave a speech about the tensions with immigrants in
Russia: "In Russia live Russians. Any immigrant, from anywhere, if it wants
to live in Russia, to work and eat in Russia, should speak Russian, and should
respect the Russian laws. If they prefer Sharia Law or anything else, then go to
those places where that's the state law. Russia does not need immigrants
and we will not grant them special privileges, or try to change our laws to fit
their desires, no matter how loud they carry on.We better learn from
the suicides of America, England, Holland and France, if we are to survive as a
nation. The Russian customs and traditions are not compatible with the lack of
culture of most illegal immigrants. When the honorable legislative body thinks
of creating new laws, it should have in mind the national interest first,
observing that the immigrants are not Russians." The
politicians in the Duma gave Putin a standing ovation for five minutes.
Yes, there are differences between legal and illegal immigrants. Legal
immigrants won the green card lottery. Illegal immigrants didn't, and to
feed their families committed a minor misdemeanor. Oh, and while here, are the
most law-abiding and entrepreneurial people we have. HUGE differences,
To win the "green card lottery" you must 1)Apply, 2)be patient 3)pass
health test and have a background check as to your criminal record, 4)be
patient, 5)pay fees, 6)be patient, 7)be interviewed, 8)be patient, 9)supply
numerous documents regarding your education, etc. 10)be patient and then when
the waiting time for your country comes you are selected to be an immigrant.
Most potential immigrants while waiting their turn attend school to further
their education and improve their English. On the other hand the illegal gets a
letter from his cousin in the USA (also an illegal) who says these crazy
politicians are going to give another amnesty so get up here ASAP and your in.
So no waiting, pay a cayote, sneak in and steal an ID. Most illegals are from
the country to the south which has the 14th or 15th best economy in the world,
by world standands not a poor country. Check out Sudan or Bangledesh and some
180 other countries if you want to help out some really poor people.
And all that patience is necessary because it's quite possible to do all
those things and never get in. I would very much like to open the borders to
folks from Sudan and Bangladesh. They would enrich our country tremendously.
We need immigrants, lots of them. They're good for our economy.
Meanwhile, to put your head in your hands and shriek "they're here
illegally! ILLEGALLY, I SAY" does not constitute a policy. There is an
answer, a simple and straightforward one. Amnesty. Followed by, for those who
want it, a pathway to citizenship. There has never been a time in our
nation's history when nativism hasn't opposed immigration from
'undesirable' groups, and always, in retrospect, nativism can clearly
be shown to have been wrong.
"...while here, are the most law-abiding and entrepreneurial people we
have."How is it "law-abiding" to work in the untaxed
cash economy or under stolen identification?
@Eric Samuelsen:"Illegal immigrants didn't, and to feed their
families committed a minor misdemeanor."What?? There's no
food in Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, etc?@Eric
Samuelsen:"And all that patience is necessary because it's quite
possible to do all those things and never get in."There's
possibly 6 billion people in the world who'd like to get in. Face it, we
can't take them all. Someone has to not 'get in.'"We need immigrants, lots of them."And we got immigrants,
lots of them. And they come via the legal route."They're
good for our economy."They're not good for unemployed
Americans who can't find jobs. Hows about giving up your job for them? I
know people who've been laid off and the cheaper illegal got the job. Is
that what you want? "Meanwhile, to put your head in your hands
and shriek "they're here illegally! ILLEGALLY, I SAY" does not
constitute a policy."The US has a policy... come legally or
don't come."There is an answer, a simple and
straightforward one. Amnesty."Check around. They have amnesty.
How many are sent home? Very few.
