Here's what the GOP platform from 2012 says. Remember, it was voted on and
carried by the delegates:In this country, the rule of law guarantees equal
treatment to every individual, including more than one million immigrants to
whom we grant permanent residence every year. That is why we oppose any form of
amnesty for those who, by intentionally violating the law, disadvantage those
who have obeyed it. Granting amnesty only rewards and encourages more law
breaking. So, who is out-of-sync here?
If Republicans cave in on the amnesty issue to hopefully entice more Hispanics
to come there way when voting time comes around, what will be their next step
when they find that Hispanics want more. A recent poll of Hispanics
by Pew showed that a large majority, like over 75%, favor a larger government
playing a larger part in people's lives.A Republicans ready to
become 'Democrat Lite' in order to further cater to the Hispanics in
hopes of their votes?
Forget about the Republican party. The immigration bill is a bad deal
for the country, and every law abiding, tax paying, and legally admitted person
here. The unenforceable "triggers" and proven inability of
Democrats to keep their word to secure the borders before granting amnesty (and
make no mistake, this is nothing but a form of amnesty) make this bill a dagger
at the heart of legal immigration and the rule of law.It is only
partly in jest that some people are now referring to "undocumented Democrat
voters" as that party, willing to sell the safety and security of our
country to achieve permanent power for themselves, may win the amnesty battle
and willingly sacrifice our national identity and the rule of law.
Remember the 20 million Americans looking for full time jobs. They have been
forgotten in this discussion.
It doesn't matter whether you're Demo. or Repub. this is a BAD deal
for LEGAL hardworking American citizens. When we decide to forget the
fact that 30 million lawbreakers will all of a sudden become eligible for food
stamps, welfare, unemployment benefits, and free Obamacare we will find
ourselves with ever more massive debt. We'll never be able to dig
ourselves out.BTW - the "11 million" number that the amnesty
advocates toss around is way low. How good can the legislation be if the
amnesty advocates don't even know how many lawbreakers will qualify?
