Thanks to Barack Obama and Eric Holder we will never know all the incredibly
valuable intel that the younger brother terrorist could have provided us. Holder
had his lawyers rush in and read this kid his rights and now the kid - who was
starting to talk - has gone silent. There could have been and should have been
at least a 3 week or so period to investigate whether or not this kid and his
brother qualify as enemy combatants and during that 3 week period interrogation
could have taken place with all sorts of intel divulged. You can't possibly
know what international terrorist ties this kid may have or who financed his
older brothers trip to Russia or who paid for all the cars they had - remember
the older brother was on WELFARE so he had no money so where did all this money
come from?? If the government wanted to eventually classify these two as common
criminals then so be it but you must first have an investigation to determine
that and Holder and Obama shut that entire process down. Barack wouldn't
even condemn the the phrase 'jihad' in an interview yesterday. Go
let's ban guns - that will make us safer
1% of the US is Muslim. And yet why are a significant percentage of
terrorist attacks carried out by Muslims?Certainly more than 1%
Patriot has expressed the same sentiments I have. This is just pathetic that the
older brother wasn't deported a long time ago. It is even more pathetic
that we have leaders who want to sweep the Boston bombings under a Miranda rug.
@patriotI have to disagree. These laws are to protect EVERYBODY, not just
this jerk. You know as well as I, what happens when you give our law
officials an inch.If we gave in on this one, next month our
"well intended" law officers could justas easily have a completely
innocent man held in custody, interrogated without counsel, and no Miranda
rights all because they SUSPECT him of "public endangerment". We can't let that begin in this country. Terrorists would love
destroying our principles more than our persons. Besides, I think
this 19 year-old is going to blab and blab even with counsel, in an attempt to
justify what he did.
Supreme court ruling reads"The person in custody must, prior to
interrogation, be clearly informed that he/she has the right to remain silent,
and that anything the person says will be used against that person in
court;"Why are so many support the constitution daily so quick
to deny it when it is convenient.I have no doubt that justice will
prevail. And will do so if we follow the law and the constitution.
Having the suspect shut up after being read his "rights" after giving
much useful information, should tell us something. It is time to throw away
Miranda and bring sanity back to law enforcement. The so-called Miranda
"rights" were largely created out of whole cloth by liberal judges. It
is time for congress to get rid of Miranda (by constitutional amendment if
necessary). Then to prevent abuse, just video tape everything police say and do
with a suspect from the time of arrest onward. Let questions be asked, and
answers be given, and watch the effectiveness of law enforcement skyrocket.
"We don't know if we would have been able to stop the terrorists had
they arrived here from Boston," Mayor Michael Bloomberg said.
"We're just thankful that we didn't have to find out that
answer."Why would he say something like this? Doesn't that
make it sound like his city is not safe? Or tempts other terrorists to try it.
Re: Superfluous and Joe Blow. That's why if he had been labled
an "enemy combatant" which he could have been under the Patriot Act,
then those rights would not have been in play. Any information that the Feds
got from him during interrorgation would not have been allowed in the court for
his trial. There was enough evidence already to convict him. What we need from
this guy is who else they worked with, and what else does he know about American
terrorist cells, ect. Do you guys realize that for the lack of gasoline in the
stolen Mercedes, these two might have made it to NYC for their next attack? You
can't treat terrorists as if they just robbed a 711 store. This is a whole
different level of danger to the public. And it looks like Obama and Holder are
trying to sweep something pretty big under the rug by this hasty action of
lawyering up this guy.
@Chris Bonce again the 22 terrorist that have attacked the US and claimed
they did it in the name of islam also represent .0004 percent of the Muslim
population in the US far less then 1 percent of muslims in the US so whats your
@nan "It is even more pathetic that we have leaders who want to sweep
the Boston bombings under a Miranda rug."your right why let a
little thing like our constitution get in the way? @mg scott I live in NY dont use us as an excuse to ignore the law.
Ah, yes - the ever popular "The right to bear arms in the Second Amendment
is absolute and God-given - all other rights, both enumerated and unenumerated,
are given by the grace of those who whine the loudest and are subject to
revocation on our say so!" argument. The only part of the
Constitution that is sacred is the Second Amendment! The rest only
applies to people Fox News likes and approves of!Fifth Amendment:
"No person ... shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness
against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due
process of law;...."Dang those Founding Fathers! Limiting the
power of the Government in that way!
True or false:By 2016, the United States of America will have
sustained more damage from a bad government, then all wars combined.
