All of us knew that the furloughs would have this effect. It was announced
months ago. Yet the Republicans let it happen and then whine. Another example of
the GOP incompetence in Congress.
Face reality here. When a private business must cut they look for what they can
cut that will least affect their customers. When a government entity is forced
to cut they look for what will cause the most trouble for their
"customers", hoping that the public outcry will get their funding
restored. I really doubt that this was the only place the Dapartment
of Transporportation could cut. This was were they chose to cut, reasoning this
would cause the most disruption, and get their funding restored.
Esquire, how soon you forget that sequestration was BO's idea. BO LET
IT HAPPEN! BO wanted to cause as much disruption and chaos as possible.
He's not a leader, but a chicago politician. A leader would have found a
way to minimize the impact on his constituency; BO did the opposite and found a
way to cause the most disruption. It's his best north-korean-leader-like
tantrum since he couldn't get his way yet! wake up and smell the coffee.
@ lost in DC, the idea was not Obama's idea. That's revisionist
history and yet one more example of how the right wing loves blaming him for
everything under the sun, even sunspots. Constant vicious personal attacks like
yours do nothing to move things forward. Stick to real issues. The people
chose him, so please accept the will of the people made under the Constitution.
In 2016, you can vote again. Good grief!
One other thing, "lost in DC", even IF it was Obama's idea, the GOP
(mostly in the House), let the sequester happen and they STILL don't want
to fix it. The ball is in their court, no matter where the concept originated.
The radical conservatives have actually said they like it - but then no
government at all is their dream (an idea that didn't help the folks in
West, Texas). So instead of blaming, get your folks to actually do something
Esquire,It wasn't, but if it was? Really? No, it was
BO's idea, stop trying to revise history.the PEOPLE voted for a
repub house, so please accept the will of the people and stop blaming the repubs
for everything. And as it was BO's idea, BO STILL let it happen.
He doesn't WANT it fixed. Why? because he WANTED it to happen to impact
the 2014 congressional elections. He and his lap-dog media can confuse enough
people to get them to blame the repubs when blame clearly lies in his court.BO is doing his utmost to make sure it is as disruptive as possible. I
see nowhere are you trying to deny that.
"The reality is that sequestration would not be possible had both Democrats
and Republicans not supported the legislation that included them. In
the summer of 2011, when Democrats and Republicans couldn’t agree on a way
to cut spending in exchange for increasing the federal government’s
borrowing limit, legislators settled on the Budget Control Act instead. The law
capped federal discretionary spending to save almost $1.2 trillion over a
10-year period, but also mandated that a bipartisan, 12-person congressional
committee find at least $1.5 trillion in additional cuts. If the committee
failed to come up with a plan, another $1.2 trillion in cuts would occur
automatically — half from defense spending and half from discretionary
spending on domestic programs — through sequestration. The committee
failed to reach an agreement, so the automatic cuts began in March.
Bob Woodward wrote that it was, the director of the OMB, Jacob Lew, Legislative
Affairs Director Rob Nabors who brought the idea of sequestration Harry Reid
before it was proposed to Republicans in Congress."”(Factcheck)However, It is Republicans who have since embraced and
