First she says "Sweeping immigration legislation would improve U.S. security
by helping authorities to know who is in the country" to convince us that we
need amnesty. Then to make us feel like they are doing their job "We know
who they are. We know where they are". I think both are wrong.
Everything done in the last four years has been to help business and people here
illegally. "ICE Union President Chris Crane has been critical of
the Gang of Eight's intentional decision to ignore law enforcement while
drafting its "comprehensive immigration reform" bill that would grant
amnesty to most of the nation's 11-18 million illegal aliens....Yesterday,
he told the Senate Judiciary Committee about the Gang's refusal to talk
with immigration enforcement agents.""This legislation was
crafted behind closed doors with big business, big unions, and groups
representing illegal aliens," Crane testified. "Groups with their own
interests. Groups that stand to make millions from this legislation. Anyone with
a significantly different opinion on immigration reform was prohibited by the
Gang of Eight from having input."The dishonesty of government
over immigration is astounding.
What Napolitano fails to consider is that the worst of the current illegal
aliens who already are or are considering further illegal activities in the USA
will not choose the path to citizenship option. As such, they will purposely
remain in the shadows and just as difficult to follow as ever. As such, this new
legislation will do nothing to help national security in that specific regard.
There is way too much smoke and mirrors in this legislation. As
mentioned in the first comment, it never received proper input from the effected
law enforcement agencies before being written. As such, this bill should be
considered suspect and needs to analyzed carefully before even being seriously
considered. It definitely needs to be tweaked, and perhaps
considerably before ever coming to a vote. For one thing, the relatively small
penalties are much too light relative to the actual costs on society these
illegal immigrants have caused since coming here and taking advantage of
numerous free entitlements intended for tax paying citizens. And that's
just a small start to the needed changes. There are way too many give-aways, and
is discouraging to current legal pathway followers.
How does making new government offices and policies make things more secure?
Are they going to set up offices along the border so that the new illegal
immigrants can register as they cross? The border is still as
effective as a screen door on a submarine for keeping out illegals. Since
people can get into the US without documentation, what is to prevent terrorists
from crossing? There already have been islamic terrorists caught on the border,
what is she proposing to do to prevent more from crossing or overstaying their
visas?I heard on the radio that 20% of the middle eastern student
visa holders never show up to the schools they are say they are going to attend.
Shouldn't we find those people and boot them out, along with all visa
Maybe Janet can sell some of the 2 billion rounds of ammo DHS bought and use the
proceeds to improve border sercurity
