Obama and his puppets may be sincere in their claims that their remedy might
reduce violence. However, empirical data has shown that they are just
flat wrong. Worse, they are themselves, or as unwitting dupes,
interested mainly in getting a system in place to register and then confiscate
every gun in private hands. This is not some paranoid delusion, but that of
Sen. Diane Feinstein who stated as early as 1995 that she "..would take them
all. Pick every one up."Freedom loving citizens need to be
alert to defend the Constitution against Feinstein and her pals, who will surely
be back to try their gun grab again. And, if people wanted to do
something to reduce gun violence, the Cruz-Grassley substitute which was
defeated (mostly by Democrats) yesterday would have been a good option.
I find it interesting that Senator Manchin said if the NRA was not "scoring
the bill" it would have had 70 votes. People, he knows that because his
collegues told him so. Whether it's gun control, financial reform, tax
legislation, or whatever, this is just another example that our elected leaders
in Washington care more about appeasing the lobbyist than serving their
constituents. America has been bought and sold. Just one more sad day added to
a list of others.
Another swing and a miss for socialist America!!! A big win for the second
ammendent of our constitution and the American peoples right and ability to
protect themselves and their children. Expect Barack to jump back out on the
campaign trail thowing out outrageous false claims, insults and attacks against
all those who "cling to their guns and religion". The constitution has
always been a thorn in Barack's back side. Hopefully - and God willing -
that will continue to be the case.
Obama and his temper tantrum. He never got this angry when innocent people were
killed in Benghazi, just took it in stride and issued an executive order to
cover it up. Amazing leadership.
“Manchin also told reporters at a breakfast sponsored by the Wall Street
Journal that the outcome would have been different if the Senate had acted more
quickly after the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown. "If
we'd have gone to a bill like this immediately, boom," he said,
predicting it would have received 65-70 votes.”So he would
rather the senate vote on emotion rather than after careful deliberation. Never
let a crisis go to waste!
How long have we been debating gun control? Immigration? Years so now something
needs to get done but all the repubs can offer up is "lets talk more."
Enough talking, where are the solutions? DN 2 Name one freedom you can no
longer enjoy since President Obama came to office?
II don't understand why a loss on this was such a surprise. Even if the
Senate had caved, the house was sure not to pass this.
Why don't these folks simply move to repeal the Second Amendment? Because
who ever promoted the idea would be committing political suicide. They know
that the great majority of law-abiding citizens favor the Second Amendment.
They try to backdoor the Constitution with "legislation" instead of
having the courage of their supposed convictions
Someday, somewhere, there will be an incident bad enough that even the hard-core
righties will want to do something more about gun control!
@mountainmanAs opposed to innocent kids at Sandy Hook?
If we can't place restrictions on buying guns, then lets let kids buy
alcohol at the grocery store and drive at at 5years old. It's pretty much
the same priciple. Obama isn't going to take away your guns even if Foxnews
tell you he is. Why is it ok,since Sandy Hook, that 1000's of people have
been killed by guns? You need a control system in place, 90% of Americans
The President was pushing this with the suffering parents from Newtown. He is a
man that takes advantage of every crisis to push his agenda. The Senate had
their Democrats that will face an election in those states that were watching
their Senators actions on this bill. The Second Amendment process is much
different that just running a grocery store. It involves states and in states
that still want that protection. The founding fathers knew that they wanted the
Constitutional protections for all states and not just people. The Federal
government could become so influential and forcing acts such as Health Care down
even the U.S. Senators and Representatives throats by mandate or threats.
Healthcare is important but the loss of other freedoms by the Federal government
is a threat, if not controlled. If the Supreme Court and both Houses of
Congress and President fall under the wrong President, it is not good for the
country. The Senate was supposed to have passed the Gun Control bill so the
Republican House would turn it down and then use that against the Republicans in
2014 elections to get a Democrat controlled House and there would be no
Republicantthinkstraigh,I can no longer go through the airport
without being subjected to either a groping or a virtual strip-searchI will be FORCED to buy someinthg, whether I want it or not. The only way NOT
to buy it is to DIE!There, I named 2 freedoms I have lost since BO
took over.xscribe,if gun control were the solution, hard-wing
righties would be right on board. But gun control is not the solution.SAS,I guess you missed the part in mountanman's comment that BO was
throwing a tantrum over Sandy Hook.Dubai Holladay,thousands
killed by guns. You mean the guns went out and killed people? Wow, I did not
know that weapons had evolved to the point where they acted on their own!
It is not the sudden total and complete loss of our rights, it is the constant
chipping away of them. Personally I have no problem with background
checks. National Gun registries are a two edged sword. On the one hand
they could help in finding a gun used in another state in a crime, or they could
assist the government in confiscating our guns. I personally do not trust
our government. They all will lie cheat and steal to control us. Here is the question I ask myself, no matter which political party is in the
white house. If the president and congress were lead by the other party how
would I feel about this particular law or bill? Also, when the parties
change at the next election do I want the next president to have that power?
Germany didn't become a Hitler territory overnight. It took 10-15 years
for that man to get the power from the country through groups of people. It is
a step by step process, including baby-steps. That is how power in countries
around the world change, internally. There are takeovers by foreign countries,
such as Germany marching into Poland, Denmark, France, etc. We have a
Constitution that is the power and authority of our government. People that
know Constitutional law can work their way around some of those rules, piece by
piece, as people and the Supreme Court accept. Congress can sit by and let the
process erode but that is why we have over 400 representing us in Congress.
They rule together or by majority decision. In 2001, they were almost all
united toward our country. Since then, we have had a falling economy and that
is because some groups have entrenched themselves for their own money. We have
bailed out banks, Wall-Street, Automakers, and given money out to almost every
group and State, City and County that requests it for improving the economy and
"system", even to pay a contractor that doesn't get the contract
Lost in DC: So your fine with another 9-11 happening? You know there are crazy
people in the world that like to try to blow up our planes. That is why you,
me, everyone is subject to a search while entering a plane. It's kind of
hard to tell who is crazy and who is not. BTW that started happening before
Obama. Nice try though. Next.
RepublicantthinkstraighI gave you TWO freedoms I have lost since BO
took over. you only asked for one. and you did not refute the second.the fact you are fine losing the first is irrelevent. The fact your are
probably fine losing both is irrelevent. The excuses given for the loss of
those freedoms are irrelevant. The first may have started before BO, but only
in isolated places; it becamse the norm under BO. you asked, I
provided - BO has taken freedoms from us. nice try though.next.BTW, the contraction for "you are" is
"you're" not "your"
Republicantthinkstraigh: "there are crazy people in the world that like to
try to blow up our planes".. Maybe we should pass a law
requiring background checks for bombs. That should resolve that problem...
Obama benefits:* Has guards with guns to protect him, and family* Exemption from Obama care health plan* In four years, two billion
dollars in benefits for vacations, golfing, parties, etc.* Full
retirement* 18% tax bracket, which is less then most tax paying Americans.
Less then Mitt Romney.* Holds the worlds record for spending other
peoples money.* Holds the admiration of many people who feel he's
improving our country. Now he wants control of our guns? Look at the
community he built in Chicago.
There are many houses for the Boston terrorist to hide. Most of these homes
don't have a gun for protection, and people are sitting ducks.Cannot agree with Obama. Will he stand down?
No one on the Democrat side should ever use as a reason for passing legislation
what the public opinion polls say. Were that the case, then Obamacare should
never have passed. However it did pass, without majority public opinion support
or even any Republican support. So to the posters who are using that as a
reason, it falls on deaf ears as far as I'm concerned.
"(xscribeSomeday, somewhere, there will be an incident bad
enough that even the hard-core righties will want to do something more about gun
control!)"Over a million people in the Boston area terrorized by
one man. Ten thousand policemen called in.Only a traitor would keep
innocent people defenseless, and dependent.
Obama is angry? Shouldn't be American citizens upset?
