Obama will say that this is amnesty because he will pick and choose the wording
that he likes. Obama does not enforce, and illegals do not follow, the current
law why should we believe they will suddenly do differently with a new law. Give
me a break. This is amnesty pure and simple. You can keep it and let all the
illegals be deported or self-deport right away, without delay.
Why is it these politicians parse words, hoping we'll be fooled into
accepting amnesty because they claim they are not rewarding bad behavior?Marco Rubio has lost credibility with conservatives over his recent
activities.Bush did the same thing, as did Obama. These triggers are
nonsense. They haven't secured the border. They aren't enforcing the
laws in the interior. They just want to hand out work papers.A move like
that does not benefit the citizens of the United States.
Lately high-tech companies have begun dedicating mass amounts of money to
lobbying for H1B visas so they don't have to pay computer
scientists/engineers etc. the prevailing wages.They've
obviously learned from the lobbyists who have been working for various small
businesses for years.Namely, its cheaper to pay a lobbyist to try to
influence BOTH political parties and avoid paying prevailing wages, than to
actually pay a decent wage.Politicians are purchased VERY cheaply
these days! The current immigration bill is nothing more than a
smokescreen in order for unethical employers to continue undercutting wages of
actual legal citizens.
Funny to watch the GOP and conservatives wrangle with this issue. Business
owners are tired of all the jockularity from the GOP and want the issue to be
resolved and their access to cheap labor secured. Right wing, Tea Party folk
are stuck in a fantasy land thinking they can either get illegals to self deport
(Oh, Mitt) or ship them back altogether. In any case, the GOP continues to
provide humor to some and heart burn to others.
"Namely, its cheaper to pay a lobbyist to try to influence BOTH political
parties and avoid paying prevailing wages, than to actually pay a decent
wage."Yup. And campaign contributions work well also.I never understood how the money in politics became a partisan issue. How can anyone think that corporate or union contributions and lobbying
don't affect our legislators? Why isn't EVERYONE working to
get the money out?
"All of this, however, is contingent on the border security and enforcement,
Rubio said."In which case, it will never happen. Because the
borders will never be secured. It's a physical impossibility. We have too
much border. And what about the visa issue? An estimated 43
percent of illegals come here on legitimate visas but don't go home when
the documents expire. What about them?@hubbardesquire:"Obama does not enforce..." You got that right. In his
January inaugurated he took an oath to see that our country's laws are
faithfully executed. He's failed miserably which should be grounds for
impeachment."This is amnesty pure and simple."You also got that right. Illegals eing able to stay in this country
regardless of the form of documentation, is amnesty."... or
self-deport..."Self-deportation is the cheapest and most
effective way to deal with the illegal immigration problem. And how is it done?
Enforce E-Verify. Cheap and effective. No jobs and they will go home. And
most of the US Border Patrol can go home, as well.
Border enforcement has always been the big problem with any of these immigration
bills. Reagan passes a huge bill with the provision of amnesty and enforcement.
It always becomes amnesty only and little or no enforcement. We who believe
the borders should be secure from not only people, but guns, drugs, bombs,
disease, and anything else illegal that can harm American citizens are demanding
that a priority be put on border enforcement this time. What's wrong with
It will be interesting to see how many Latino votes Marco Rubio would get vs.
any other Republican. I suspect that the illegals largely want government money
and stuff first, more than they want one of their own in the White House. I
doubt Obama would have gotten anywhere near the amount of black votes had he
been a Republican. The time seems to be coming when so many people in America
will be dependent upon getting stuff for nothing, that our economy, and
therefore our freedom, will come to an end. I feel like half of the people,
like HS Fan for instance, are like the frog in the slowly boiling water. When
that number gets significantly above 50% we will have reached a point of no
return. That's just my optimistic point of view.
