I think its pathetic we live in a country where its other people's
responsibility to give people without jobs money. If you dont have a
job - go make yourself desirable so that you can get job offers. No, I"m not suggesting its always easy. I'm suggesting its my
responsibilty to pay my bills and your responsibilty to pay your bills. If we pay people to not work, where is the incentive to work?
Its pretty easy to get discouraged when our President has promised 20 million
illegal workers from a foreign land that they can have jobs. With
odds like that, who wants to fill out an application?
"I think its pathetic we live in a country where its other people's
responsibility to give people without jobs money."You mean the
58 year-old machinist who lost his job due to a lay-off, during the biggest
economic meltdown since the Great Depression? Jobs that pay enough
to pay the mortgage are easy to get for middle-aged machinists, are they?
Unemployed people just aren't trying hard enough? Is that your
position?Oh brother. Conservatives, is this _really_ where you want
to go, philosophically?"And the King shall answer and say unto
them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least
of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me." - Mathew 25:40
Why is it that when the jobless numbers drop by 42,000 it "plummets,"
and when it goes up by 42,000 it "inches up"?
It rose last month. So it looks even so far this month. Minus the people living
in tent cities and church parking lots that have fallen out of society. Last year we gave out 4.3 million green cards and worker visas with over
20 million looking for full time work. Government and business has no
compassion, where are the Churches?
The first few comments are just funny. This isn't about wellfare.... where
in the world did thoser comments come from? This is about the number of people
who were let go from their jobs... people who had jobs... people who want jobs,
and are looking for assitance to find jobs. Not the chronically unemployeed.
What the heck are you rambling on about Chris? And seriously, someone
actually thinks "Americans" want farm labour or service jobs? Really?
Americans are not lining up for jobs to pull spinich, or clean hotel
bathrooms.Comments like these seem to endless come from the
"Rhetoric for Conserviatives" play book... with little depth to them.I am sorry there is good news in the jobs market... I know it
doesn't fit your narrative. Trust me, there will be plenty else for you
all to complain and feel persecuted about.
The primary reasons why it's not so great that fewer people are seeking
unemployment compensation are that...1) It doesn't take into
consideration those whose benefits recently ran out, but still haven't been
able to find employment.2) It also doesn't count those who have been
looking for employment for an extended period of time without success, become
discouraged and who have basically just given up looking. Consequently, we don't get the entire, or true picture from this
particular number. On the contrary, numbers released last week show that there
is now the lowest percentage of working aged citizens actually working in our
country in almost half a century. Those kinds of facts are the ones that should
concern us and our government more. This issue shouldn't just be about
politics. This should be about doing what it takes to get our economy back on
track, regardless of your politics. This recession is far from over. The only
thing that's changed recently is how we count numbers and which numbers we
actually choose to count.
Jobless rates going down, stock market hits record highs, record profits for
corperations, housing markets rebounding. All Despite ANY help from the
republican party that caused the recession. Heck, you'd think Mitt Romney
was president as good as things are going. Thank heaven he is not! If
republicans would pass the presidents jobs bill, and infastructure bill,
millions more would be going to work. Dont lecture us ,CONservatives about how
to clean up your mess!
UtahBlueDevilStop calling Americans lazy. Construction, maids,
landscaping etc were all done by Americans until illegal aliens drove down wages
and put them out of work. Business not only depresses their wages, they hire
those here illegally so they pay no benefits. If they hire an American they have
to pay benefits, so they find a reason to turn them away. It's
time we stop it. Enforcement is the only answer, reform just puts it off until
the next wave. "In 1979 testimony to Congress, Chavez
complained, "... when the farm workers strike and their strike is
successful, the employers go to Mexico and have unlimited, unrestricted use of
illegal alien strikebreakers to break the strike. And, for over 30 years, the
Immigration and Naturalization Service has looked the other way and assisted in
the strikebreaking. I do not remember one single instance in 30 years where the
Immigration service has removed strikebreakers. ... "They are to
lazy to do the work, Chavez knew different.
Blue,I repeat:It is my responsibility to my bills. It is your responsibility to pay your bills.
Every food stamp receiver,--feeds three people. That's half our
population.Add 346,000 unemployment receivers with their dependents,
and those on disability. The numbers add up to a large percentage of
Americans on the dole. With the greatest country in history, only
corruption could cause these numbers.
